I played the beta solo, and didn't enjoy it that much, but I'm actually eager to play with friends again tonight. I had a good time yesterday.

I can see this being my go-to coop game I play whenever my buddies are on, but solo? I've got better games for that.

I'm a level 16 warlock who hasn't even left the moon yet, and I saw that I unlocked the vanguard playlist, tried it out and ended up on the Venus Strike HOLY HELL that final boss is one tough sonofabitch Took us 45 minutes to finally give up lol.

I'm loving the difficulty though, I hope they don't nerf the boss battles, they SHOULD be tough.

Tough =/= bullet sponge.

This game's approach to storytelling is so fucking incomprehensible and bizarre. I honestly can't even tell what they were going for.

My biggest and main complaint. I also love how Ghost doesn't believe Vex time travel / has doubts at first. Completely jars versus the grimoire cards.

My friend and I did the first story mission on the moon. Then we immediately went into Patrol. We spent TWO HOURS running around the moon, checking stuff out, fighting enemies, doing patrol missions, finding dead ghosts and golden chests, doing public events and ultimately found out the moon goes a LOT deeper than we thought. A LOOOOOOOOT deeper. After more than two hours we still have not seen every area of the moon.

This game is utterly utterly awesome.

Yeah, it's huge, but the problem is it requires people attempt to look. Also, the Moon is much harder to navigate (imo) than Russia. I died once when I went SLIGHTLY off the path into a crater because I was out of bounds.

I was so pissed.

This song is probably why Marty left Bungie

I know it's McCartney, but man that song sounds like a tie-in to a 90's Disney movie.

I think to unlock the second game type, you have to play the first, to unlock the 3rd, you have to play the second etc.

That's how it worked for me, but it could have been some other factor at play.

I already have all 4 game modes, but nothing of them are Salvage,
it is just Clash, Control. Free for all and Skirmish, really odd.

Is it worth hanging on to decent gear to give to your alts? It seems like it might be as there's no specific stats that seem to directly improve one class over the other, right? I'm only level 10 atm so maybe later the gear becomes more diverse.

I think I'm going to give PvP a try later. I went into this game hoping for some great PvE content, but I'm finding it to be quite lackluster (at least when solo). I need to find some time to try group stuff, too.

Is it even worth doing PvP before you hit the cap?

I'm playing almost exclusively in PvP and I'm leveling nearly as fast if not faster than my brother who plays mostly PvE. So yeah, pick the bounties well and you can make a huge progress.

Also I've been awarded with tons of rare stuff. I'm wearing full blue Titan special armor from neck to toe.

Warming up to the PvP the more abilities you get the more fun it is. They really should have some way to limit level bonus advantages as they are almost impossible to overcome. Weapons are good but against someone with their abilities maxed you are going to struggle.

Blink Strike/Arc Blade + Showstopper for the win..... that is one sexy ass combo. Triple kills all day.

Don't give them false hope, Yes you get very good exp but to get the good gear you have to do very well. Most of the people that get stomped don't get jack shit when its reward time.

Really?? I thought this game was much much longer since its like a MMO? Or am I misunderstanding? Or the longevity is just doing same things again and again for more loot and XP?

I got to 15 in 8 hours just from doing the earth missions(hard mode) and pvp. Every bounty you get done gives you half a level, you get a huge chunk of a level for every pvp match, it's easy as hell to get max out, and I was actually trying to avoid leveling up since my friends were behind. Game may as well not even have a level up system.

Dear God Destiny's single player is awful. Truly terrible, this is completely unacceptable for such an expensive production.

The latter, which is improved by hanging out with friends. When you distill it like that, it does sound kinda bad lol

uugggghhhh...I wanted a solid SP mode :(

I did my first strike on Earth, goddamn that was amazing. Great gameplay, tight fights, adrenaline and japanese arcade-like bosses. Loved everything of it. I knew strikes were the best part of it!

I've asked this three times already, and no one has answered:

Should I be converting unwanted gear into glitter, or is there some reason to hold onto it?

Whoops I'm silly. I have rumble unlocked.

You'll unlock the last mode as soon as you do a match in rumble.

edit:

You can pass it down to your other characters, but converting it to glimmer can also give you rare materials that you'll need to upgrade rarer items.

Rumble is so good. It's so methodical, no chaos involved, just pure strategy, I love it.

There is a lot of chaos involved in rumble I find the most methodical match up is the last one the 3 v 3 team deathmatch. Rumble is usually you kill him someone kills you I kill them someone kills me then they get shot rinse wash repeat. As I am learning the boards I am figuring out where not to be ...... which is making it a bit more strategic and less of a clusterfuck. Its fun as hell though.

I was just checking the mailman and he had 3 blue items under 'lost items'.
Did i forget to pick them up and he collects them or what is that about?

Yeah the 3v3 Skirmish with teamates being able to revive you is the most strategic IMO.

Eh, this is a little harsh I think. Sure, it could have been much more fulfilling than what we received, but I still think the enemy encounters and core gameplay are fun. It's mainly the storytelling and mission designs that are lacking.

(up to Level 6)

Anyone else feel like the gameplay is tolerable, but it juuuuust missed the mark for genuine fun?

Like some enemies explode when you shoot them in certain spots, which makes for satisfying kills, yet other times they turn into total bullet sponges and you just end up spamming half your ammo into them.

I don't think the enemy design helps, they all sort of look a bit too similar.

Also the vehicles so far have been awful, granted I've only flown two, but they both feel like the battery is just dieing ... so while you're moving you get the feeling of constant de-acceleration.

I'll probably complete the game, but right now it's just a bit too clunky.

Tough =/= bullet sponge.

They aren't hard though, they are just damage sponges.

If they weren't hard we wouldn't have been dying over and over again, sure they are bullet sponges but why is that inherently a bad thing? It makes for a long and thrilling battle, it shouldn't be a cakewalk for christs sake.

The Venus boss would be tough even if he had lower health, that motherfuckers splash damage makes it impossible to stay in one place for too long.

It's fun till you realize it's a repition of two formulas:

A) Go into a room, take out a ton of enemies, including a boss, and then deploy Ghost.

B) Deploy ghost, defend the room(For no reason, as ghost can't take damage), and kill every enemy. Oddly enough, Ghost's hack or whatever finishes the exact moment you kill the last enemy. Amazing.

PvP is this game's redeeming feature. Warframe has better co-op.

Tried my first raid just now and they're pretty fun. Me and a random player just managed to beat two different raids from the first selection without any real hassle so I'm hoping the next tiers are harder.

Seems like there will be a decent amount of this content to keep me busy now that the story is out of the wag too. I have one legitimate complaint though.
Seriously? The rift is there for like two cut scenes? One of which it takes you to automatically. That's a great missed opportunity for at least an extra PvP map to add location variety.

tough bosses have a variety of moves that require you to learn, anticipate, dodge and look for an opening. destiny's bosses just have a lot of health, one really powerful attack, and trash mobs to swarm you. they're only "difficult" because of the overwhelming amount of shielded enemies.

You mean strikes, right?

Raids are 6-man ordeals that don't have matchmaking and I think the game only has one in it so far.

Short story: There's not much story, but the Game itself is awesome, pretty much like borderlands AAA (but better since the loot in Destiny is MUCH MUCH harder to get) .

PD: PvP IS AMAZING. It's Halo at its core with tweaks that makes it unique. Really enjoying PvP.
