This is interesting. I respect Nina Simone and she paved the way for a lot of black women.
But Beyoncé talent isn't typical. She extends her ranges in various songs and has a wealth of technique. Typical would be Ariana Grande on her best day. She does nothing with her talent but sing. If you are saying musically she is typical, then I can understand that. But vocally, she isn't exactly typical. She can do a lot more than the average mezzo - soprano. I get what your saying however...

It's not anything against Patti; it's just that the "vocal trinity" is a fan-made appellation for Mariah, Whitney, and Celine specifically. They're grouped together because they were super popular and active during an overlapping period (90s), and were considered to be gifted singers. This is why singers like Patti Labelle or Aretha or Gladys, or others, whose career peaks came earlier aren't part of that "generation" of singers.
Personally, I think Whitney's performance of All The Man That I Need was better than Patti's, but Patti is amazing.

Beyonce has worldwide appeal, she is the biggest working pop star in the world at this point with Rihanna, who is a little bit bigger saleswise.
And lol at Grande, "even" Gomez is the bigger worldwide brand.

That said, Beyonce has her moments. I think she's just always ON, which prevents her from connecting to the audience emotionally, but she does have that capability to do so. She's usually performing an act or an idea of what she thinks it means to be expressive but like other aspects of her talents, she's constantly aware and constantly improving:

In one aspect, she's not there yet and I don't think she ever will be. Mariah and Whitney were vocal powerhouses and created an industry of copycats in their wake. On the other hand, Beyonce is very different in that she's the whole entertainer package.

You for real? If you are going on longest time without a hit, she wins. Tons would argue for "Listen" from Dreamgirls, or "Halo" as answer to those other songs. And her self-titled album was a megahit. Yet to be outsold by a release since it came out and outsold all other releases of 2013 in just the last 3 weeks of the year.
Literally no other major pop star has released an album since Beyonce, tho. All the other ladies are gearing up for 2015.
BEYONCE has yet to outsell Rihanna's last album, actually.

I haven't seen her done it yet but it's not like she couldn't. If you listen to the entire video, you can clearly hear her doing all types of tricks with her voice almost on the same level as this girl. But remember, they are of two different vocal types. Beyonce doesn't sing like a alto (which I think this women is).
