DRIVECLUB: 30 minutes of new Beta footage

It'll set things up nicely for DC2. PS+ version is a good way for Evo to introduce a new racing franchise to millions, while still offering a full version for those that see the value in owning it.

I'm pretty confident it'll be a healthy franchise, I LOVED the beta.

In that case they should really skim the PS+ version down - something like 1 country/3 variations and half a dozen cars.

£250 for the T300?

That's a nice price.

Yeah, just ordered it

Is there no bonus for buying this on PSN instead of brick and mortar? Seems kind of odd that stores get bonus cars but the PSN version doesn't. Unless I'm missing the text somewhere.

Sadly no Logitech wheels currently work with the PS4.

Thought I'd heard that somewhere. Ah, well, no big deal for me. I'm actually thinking I'll be playing this a bit through my vita too at home, especially if there are some grindy type of trophies that require many races.

Dude, the regions with a slightly Autumn setting look really cool. How great would it be if this game had season shifts that match up with (or are an inverse of) real-world calendar seasons over time?

RUSHY PLEASE.

Unf, I really, REALLY need to buy a PS4. There are too many great games I am missing out on. This game looks incredible and the more racing games there are, the happier I am!

This is something I've been waiting for in lots of games. Play at Christmas and some of the trees have Christmas lights in them. Play on Halloween and some of the spectators are wearing Halloween costumes. And like you said, the seasons reflect the real seasons. But why not go further and have it tied in with the weather from your region? It could be a setting you turn on to make sure the randomness is still there if you want it.

I SWEAR i saw a quote somewhere about DC, where they mentioned that the courses would change/evolve from year to year. Whether that was early plans that got scrapped, or is still something they are considering,I'm not sure.

Not to shit on everyone's parade, but a gamekult forum dweller has access to the complete game, and his opinion will ruffle some feathers for sure :

It is content starved. The music is mediocre. The visuals so-so, apparently; as in good, but not great...A forgettable title is what he was hinting at, basically. Keep your expectations in check!

So we should keep are expectations in check base one what gamekult says like seriously?

We have the PS plus version so we can judge for ourselves thank you.

Holy shit, that would be incredible. One of my favorite memories in all racing games is driving the old school Alfa Grand Prix car on a snow covered Ring in PGR4. I would love to be able to recreate that feeling in this game.

Based on seasons? No they said they were hand picked, even last year. The vegetation, sun, star positions are accurate to whatever season they picked.

We've picked locations; and seasons that are indicative of the locations

Would be a cool feature update though!

To be fair, I think the idea of adjusting expectations from the words of someone who's really played the game, then being pleasantly surprised is a pretty excellent way to go about this stuff. Coming in with realistic rather than stratospheric expectations is the best way to enjoy a game for what it is.

Don't be so defensive, buddy...I am merely passing on the impressions of a forum member who has the game and who ended up being disappointed. Nothing more, nothing less. Make of that what you will...

Sure but like I said we can try it for ourselves. :)

Project Cars is doing something akin to your last point. You can select a date and the game will then have the weather how it was on that specific date in the location of the track. Our something like that. I heard it in a dev interview video.

R...right. At a later point in time. Which if people start playing it expecting something more than what's there, they might be more annoyed with the game than if they came in with a better sense of what it has to offer. You know. Expectations. Do you follow?

I like playing a game for what it offers, not the game marketing and my own hopes has made in my mind.

That stream is just incredible. High quality headphones/speakers is a must. Twitch stream quality, I know, but switching from my laptop speakers to bose earphones made a HUGE difference! Especially with the sound of wind rushing past the car. Geez!

To be honest, i'm expecting DC to review a lot less than Horizon, around 7-8 based on its lack of content mainly. I think from what we saw the game looks like it lacks content and options but in my case all i want is a good looking next-gen racer with fun gameplay, sense of speed and intense situations. If they can deliver that then i'm a happy man !

I've been a fan of Evolution Studios long enough to know the kind of games and quality they bring. I'm confident i'll like it !

Alright, here's the quote I was thinking of:

http://www.trustedreviews.com/driveclub-review

Even more impressive is the dynamic weather and lighting conditions. You can drive at any time of the day, see the sun rise and the resulting glare through the windscreen or the clouds form when it’s about to get rainy. Evolution says these environments will change year on year so the game you play this year will be different to next year

I suppose it's possibly that they misquoted Evolution, but that seems like a pretty specific statement to screw up.

I mean on the fly though. If it's connected to the internet and it has access to your internal console clock, I see no problem for it to search for the whether in your region and what time of year it is. Imagine looking out of your window at it snowing and seeing a Christmas tree in someones yard, and then when you play Driveclub it's snowing and the trees have Christmas lights in them. I think that would be pretty damned cool.

You know, I can see some of those complaints, but this is not the first time I've heard people say the visuals aren't up to par. I just cannot accept that being a complaint, given everything we've seen from direct feed gameplay videos, and even the offscreen stuff. In what realm is this not the best looking racer ever created?
