Diablo took how long to get the greater rifts, an expansion and other content?

Doesn't exactly seem fair. Comparing vanilla content to vanilla content, I'd probably even favor Destiny.

That's implying greater rifts is the only content Diablo III had released for free since vanilla. Destiny's expansions look like free content you have to pay for. Meh.

There's plenty of other games with free content updates that aren't MMO's. Destiny is just barebones, begging you to spend your money on garbage content like story missions just so you can do the next raid which may or may not even be worth it.

oh man guys

>mars strike
>one teammate quits
>random guy in the area invites me to fireteam
>i invite him
>he joins up, we're now back to full strength powering through this strike

never partied with a guardian from the wild before. is this destiny's final form?

The comparison is irrelevant in the end. Monthly sub or not, if the game doesn't have the content to keep someone playing, then there's nothing else to consider.

Doesn't make Destiny a bad game, but its a perfectly good reason to stop playing.

I don't understand that mindset. If I don't like a game, I don't have a desire to try to like it. I just play a game that I do like instead. I'm not saying that people that do feel like that are wrong or anything. It's just not something I get.

Personally I find the shooting in this game to be a really strong component. The visual and audio feedback and general feel make it fun to just shoot things. And while I think the PVP is an imbalanced mess, I'm still having fun with it (though it helps that I can go positive to 2+ KDR in the majority of my games)

It's all the stuff that surrounds the core of the game that I am just not feeling and has me struggling to log in.

There's marks to accumulate weekly, but until the Tuesday patch, I don't find Vanguard Tiger (or whatever the 24 one was) to be rewarding enough to spam, doubly so given my opinions on the game's current Strikes being bulletsponge borefests. My other option is to farm Public Events but I have zero interest in roaming around the barren open world waiting around for timers to pop. Crucible marks are whatever; I already said I enjoyed PVP so I can just let that accumulate in the background.

The game wants you to play daily but bounties and the daily heroic just doesn't do it for me. The lack of a true main city and player interaction has reduced the Tower to just be a bunch of service NPCs and vendors. There's no "living world" where it feels like you can pass the time just being social in the Tower, which IMO is a good reason to log in daily on top of the daily activities themselves.

There's material farming much like in other MMOs, but MMOs usually give me an option to get around this by just buying them off the auction house. Here, I have to partake in farming runs to get past 25. There's an argument to be made for doing it while hunting for Public Events or running Patrols but I honestly find the open world so poorly designed that I'm not compelled to engage with it. Of course, I stuck with Spirit Bloom and Helium Filament farming enough to get to 28 so I can comfortably do Nightfall and the raid but it just wasn't a good time lol.

I suppose the tldr version is that the shooting is good enough to make most of the game's activities bearable, but looking back the activities themselves feel pretty empty and have me questioning if I should do it again the next day or week. Of course this is all my opinion and I don't expect my logic to be sound or reasonable but yeah. And if it sounds like I want the game to slant more heavily into the MMO side, that's probably true too. Destiny has such a strong core to it but a lot of the parts surrounding it just don't work well.

Do you guys really not enjoy strikes and heroic missions? Man alive I just love that shit.

Moon definitely my favorite strike. You can rip through it and get a lot of high quality drops. Been getting it a lot today but still wish you could choose.

Bruh, those strikes are so boring. There is what, like 7 strikes in the game? And there is no variation in them, it's always the same over and over, with bullet-sponge enemies and bosses.

The daily heroic might as well be a sanity test if the mission is full of cut-scenes.

had a wedding reception and working double this weekend so i haven't been able to play much. but i got on today just enough to do a couple queen bounties and the daily heroic. monday night i'm gonna be inside of this game.

I think making a comparison to Diablo 1 and 2 is kinda unfair. By that reasoning, I'd be comparing every expansion released recently to Brood War. If I did that, I wouldn't like anything.

That doesn't leave room for nuance. People compare dlc now a days to expansions like Brood War and realize that things have gone down hill. That doesn't make them hate what's in the DLC, it just makes them crave more from it. You don't have to hate something to recognize that it could be better.

Also comparing everything to Diablo 3 vanilla when it's widely recognized as a failure at launch on par with the most recent Sim City is really scratching the bottom of the barrel.

Content was much easier and cheaper to produce then though.

Making a level for Diablo 2 probably took 1/10th the time as something made in 2014.

Diablo 2 doesn't actually have that much more content than 3. The difference is that Diablo 3's systems were bunk, the classes were more generic, and the loot was trash which has nothing to do with cost. Hell, since they already had good systems in place, the cost of making a similiar system would have been lower.

A new bug shows content from the expansions, including strikes and raids. Apparently it's at least partially on disk.

So watching this and not seeing stuff take place in the Seraphim Vault or Kings Watch (which totally has enemies in and a sub boss "Ultra Captain") seem to be even further future DLC then? Kinda disappointing that the DLC stuff isn't even higher level content or offering cool stuff. Like, the reason to run things over and over and do the Raid each week is to get better gear to progress even higher but if they aren't offering new, better stuff or ways to get to a higher level is there a point doing them? There are the new Raids which will be worth doing most likely but the strikes seem pointless. And I bet they will show up as weekly strikes forcing people who want to or need to do them have to buy the DLC (unless they show up as their own weekly section).

but both of those areas are on earth and the first raid is on the moon? and those areas are INCREDIBLY glitchy in their current form

like this degree of unfinished

Actually that is outside of the map, not in the Kings Watch area. That places is 100% fine. I've been and killed the boss. That is outside the map which you jump over the rooms (which obviously don't have textures from that angle due to things never having textures or sometimes even loading at all from places you are never meant to be). Once you glitch into the areas after navigating through a bunch of pipes and falling in the right place and sliding etc it's fine and you don't fall out. Looks nothing like that and saying that is the state the area is in is just striaght up misleading. Seraphim Vault (the actual area you can get to and isn't blocked off) is also fine minus a missing death pit (as is you fall into the darkness but can survive).

Mmm do you get rank points for completing the Queen's Wrath missions or is it enough to do the bounties to rank it up after getting the two now useless legendary pieces?

i hope nobody feels bad or guilty if they feel like taking a break or not necessarily logging in for the 20th day in a row. that's how it's supposed to work. :) come back when there's an interesting event or a patch that changes something you care about, or when there's DLC, or don't. it's all good

Just needed to get some helium filaments and now I'm finally level 29! Thank you RNGesus.

@Afro we'll be able to start doing the raid on hard mode soon. :D

Any chance of bungie making weekly and nightfall have matchmaking because this is a pain in the arse trying to set one up.

Well sure, but this is a game I kind of wanted to no-life for a month but I'm pretty much uninterested in it after 2 weeks so I don't think I feel bad or guilty?

So this happened.

6 more Strikes and I'm done with the 25 Strikes requirement. What's next? 10,000 Crucible Points?
After the 25 strikes you have to unfortunately wait for Xur before doing the 10,000 points, which really sucks if you get to that point after Xur has already left. Happened to me last Sunday.
