Just to clarify further, the officer was shot while investigating a burglary. It had nothing to do with the protests. He was shot in the arm while struggling with the suspect.

Doesn't matter, it gives police a convenient excuse and the average person isn't going to make that distinction. I'm willing to avatar bet tomorrow that Fox News will spin this story.

Grand jury considering the Ferguson shooting is being investigated for misconduct [Washington Post]

Shaun King's really laying it out on the line with this one. But if he's right, then holy fuck.

Just came to post this. What shit. A bunch of eyewitness accounts should be more than enough to indict. Even hearsay is permissable evidence in a grand jury proceeding. This prosecutor is just sitting on his hands doing nothing. If this is even proven to be true.

And thats the grand jury that people are supposed to have been putting their faith in.

I mean, I don't know how many more times I can say Wilson ain't catching charges before people realize Wilson ain't catching charges, but once more: Wilson ain't catching charges and if he some how amazingly does, he won't get convicted.

If even 6 or 7 eyewitnesses saying you shot someone with their hands up doesn't get you charged, then apparently video evidence is required to charge a cop with anything. How fucking stupid is that?

Video evidence wouldn't be enough to convict Darren Wilson, due to the attitude of most non-minority Americans in relation to Police.

There'd be a better chance, but it's still pretty unlikely.

yea, but its 6 or 7 black people, thats like only 1 or 2 white people. One white cop >>> several witnesses.

This is sad but true look at the john crawford walmart shooting as an example. They have video evidence of a police officer killing an innocent citizen who did nothing wrong except be black in a predominately white town. Then they ask a grand jury which was probably over 95 percent white to actually sympathize with a black man over a white police officer. Also add to that a prosecutor who does not really care about the case or believe the officer is guilty. The justice system is broken.

Didn't work with the Walmart thing.

To be fair, black people only start out as 3/5s of a witness compared to white ones so the authority multiplier only needs to be 2.0x.

Yes, that was satire at the absolute ridiculousness of the situation

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/10/02/ferguson-vote-registration/16572305/
More than 3,000 people have registered to vote in Ferguson, Mo., since the death of Michael Brown — a surge in interest that may mean the city of 21,000 people is ready for a change.

Since a white police officer shot the unarmed black 18-year-old on Aug. 9, voter registration booths and cards have popped up alongside protests in the city and surrounding neighborhoods. The result: 4,839 people in St. Louis County have registered to vote since the shooting; 3,287 of them live in Ferguson.

The city's population is two-thirds African American; five of its six city council members are white, as is its mayor. The St. Louis County Election Board does not record the races of eligible voters, but many believe the increase is a sign that Brown's death has spurred renewed interest in politics and might mean more blacks will vote in the upcoming election.

Obviously they don't want to set a precedent! Can't have cops being convicted of crimes as if they weren't above the law! If the courts convict Wilson, what does this mean for other cops who break laws?!

Shaun King talks about a dude in the military saying that they've been told to gear up for riots in Ferguson and Missouri because they don't expect Wilson to be indicted. I did a quick screenshot of the tweets, so you have to read from bottom to the top (sorry)

If State Senator Maria Chappelle Nadal 's timeline is anything to go by, they have already started on that last step.

TELL ME WHAT THIS IS: The majority of arrested protestors on Sunday were White. No bail. Those arrested last night (Blk) r facing $1000 bail

And from Antonio French:
This is what you get for a noise violation in #Ferguson, MO.

Elon James White has also been tweeting about what's going on. I'm not giving a specific tweet here, just his Twitter handle. https://twitter.com/elonjames

All three are where I got a lot of my info about Ferguson.

Hey guys, that random woman who tweeted about her friend on the grand jury? She was hacked.

Those clever hackers hacking random people and making them say random shit about Ferguson.

Then again, this would be so simple to fact-check if she's lying she's an idiot.

More likely she was caught talking out her ass and didn't actually know anyone on the grand jury.

More likely her friend on the Jury told her to keep her goddamn mouth shut if they both want to stay out of jail.

Twitter records ip's right? If the police want to investigate that hard.

Could be systemic racism ...... or could be as simple as there being two different judges doing those arraignments. Looks like that scenario because 1) weekend night vs. weekday night will usually be a different judge, and 2) it appears that on each respective night, all were given equal treatment.

Some parts of the criminal justice system are literally luck of the draw. I'm not saying that's definitely what happened there, but having spent some time working in the court system I've seen that kind of thing all the time. The judge you pull (and if it goes to trial the public defender you pull if you don't hire your own) .... just as important to the outcome as the officer that arrested you.

Just a hunch. State Senator Chappelle's presumption of blatant racism out in the open could also be correct. I just see that there could be another more pedestrian explanation, that would be consistent with my experience.

Have you literally not been paying attention?
