Don't tell Greenawalt, lol
I wouldn't called a locked 30fps "god tier" but PG definitely did a fantastic job
Fuck off?So now we are impressed when a racing game is locked at 30fps (when fluctuations below would have ruined the gameplay) way to set your expectations low haha
Well, it's a cross-gen title. Wouldn't expect anything else. The Xbox 360 version looks great as well.
Really impressed with what the Xbox One can do - maybe because it's hard not to buy into the constant doom and gloom on GAF about the underpowered hardware.
The solid performance of this game is no surprise. PG did a great job with FH1 on the 360. So good, that FH2 and FH1 aren't that far from each other visually.
That's certainly a sentence. Words and everything.
Ignore him.
Enjoy DC, and let him enjoy FH 1.5.
If it's that consistent throughout, wonder if they had the headroom to maintain 40-45fps a lot of the time if they'd included an unlocked frame ration option a la Infamous.
I know this is maybe a controversial opinion but games like Horizon 2 make me realise that I'm not going to need the most powerful hardware this gen to get really satisfying games.

Honestly at this point I give zero fucks about how 'underpowered' or 'inferior' the Xbox One is when it's giving us games like this...
If you dont give fucks when it comes to 3rd party, then moar power to you.I know this is maybe a controversial opinion but games like Horizon 2 make me realise that I'm not going to need the most powerful hardware this gen to get really satisfying games.

Yep, Forza is like the 1-2 punch of racing games. Horizon and Motorsport are both consistently excellent.Framerate is king, and Forza is doing both open world 30fps (Horizon) and more static track 60fps (Motorsport) full justice.
This isn't really a case of the Xbox One hardware shining, as much as the developers work in spite of it. So I guess in some ways it is an accomplishment for the developer.
What? What does this post even mean?

I've played both versions. I'm sorry to say you're so wrong. The solid performance of this game is no surprise. PG did a great job with FH1 on the 360. So good, that FH2 and FH1 aren't that far from each other visually.

LOL!!! I thought the same thing when I read his post. It means he's unhappy that a game runs so well on the "inferior" platform. What a joke.
Console warz serious business
It's a given the Xbox One has certain hardware bottlenecks and performance shortcomings, so it's not going to blow anyone away on power alone.
A developer is not going to dump software on the system and have the hardware brute force it into performing well. And as others stated in this thread it speaks more to the developers proficiency at this point this game apparently turned out to people's liking.
It was bad wording. You're describing virtually every console or fixed hardware platform in existence, yet they all have had games made to suit their strengths, overcome or mask their weaknesses. What you bothered to post was essentially the obvious, but because you made an effort to post it, it comes off as having something more to say than what you're saying. No, you're reading too much into that. Maybe "in spite of" was bad wording. It's a given the Xbox One has certain hardware bottlenecks and performance shortcomings, so it's not going to blow anyone away on power alone. This kind of response is doing exactly what you seem to be decrying.
LOL, oh boy. Then you haunt me all the time saying that I am the fanboy. Unbelievable. The solid performance of this game is no surprise. PG did a great job with FH1 on the 360. So good, that FH2 and FH1 aren't that far from each other visually.
Other than the streaming in of shadows and odd LOD pop at the far end of your view, sounds like you're describing the real-time day/night lighting in effect. They're using a pretty aggressive level of time compression and the updates to the environment shadows skip forwards the equivalent of a few minutes every five seconds or so.Game does run buttery smooth but the shadows are really screwy. They seem to shift in a really jerky way. Even with your car sitting still they shift in a horrible distracting way.
That being said, this is one of my favorite racing games ever.
