He's saying exotic + 3 faction armor maxed out is lvl 29. 4 raid armor (or 3 raid +1exotic) = 30.
Thanks for all the replies. I already have Vanguard and Crucible factions over level 3, I just couldn't decide if I should keep with them or one of the others. But I think I'm gonna stay with them, the other factions doesn't have anything of interest to me, and if I joined one of them I would have to start from scratch and lose the gift items I would get from each new level.
From tomorrow on I will be playing Iron Banner anyway, hopefully I can get a decent helmet from that.

Does agility affect acceleration, top speed, or both?
All faction gear sans Queen and Class cosmetic items give ass materials.

The positive of choosing a faction is that both vanguard and crucible is poured into that one faction instead of leveling two at varying speeds.
Never did patrol missions. I did some Vanguard bounties, a lot of strikes, and some public events. Problem with strikes (even on the tiger playlist) is that they give you jack shit for rep. Not enough to get me to level 1 Vanguard, even. I spent more time doing PVP than the Vanguard -- this is why I'm half way to level 2 in Crucible, but level 0 in Vanguard. I was just avoiding the tedium and doing what was fun.
Yep, just keep doing Vanguard stuff and you'll hit it. I got rank 3 without knowing how far I was.

I thought the Queens Orders where meant to be hard? :-/ just did one and breezed through it. Shame they don't shard out, is there anything unusual worth playing through them for? Ship etc?

The flawed matchmaking in this game is starting to make me feel like I'm playing The Thing video game for PS2, while also trying to finish a strike. It's basically making me keep a constant paranoid eye on my teammates, not because they'll turn into The Thing, but because I need to make sure they don't afk or just straight up depart. Which is usually my cue to leave too, because fuck trying to kill certain bosses with just two players.

Same here, doing invective third time now.
Yeah, I may hold onto the bounty ticket missive until they buff thorn / juju and then choose one.
I believe they are level 24 missions, so if you are at least level 24, they shouldn't be hard.
I'm embarrassed to say the kill the Gate Lord with solar burn caught me off-guard once or twice.

A buddy asked me to help him and another under-leveled friend of ours complete the Weekly Nightfall. I agreed, we all need helping hands in the game for something. While playing, buddy#2 (a Gaffer) was talking about a shitty raid group he's in that demands quick jump-ins or you get left behind.
So we're playing and I'm doing most of the back-breaking work as I'm 29 but that's cool I don't mind. After a while buddy #2 mentions his Raid group is messaging him. By this time we are nearing the boss, when he frantically claims he's got to go. I was like what....you asked for help completing this, don't you want to finish? He said he has to do life stuff, his wife needs him and he needs to log off. Buddy #1 and I painstakingly complete it, but we checked buddy #2's status and guess what he was doing? Raiding.
Super lame to do that, should have just said he needed help but priority was raid and may have to jump out. No need to lie or make excuses, right? I un-friended the ungrateful time-waster.
tldr: don't ask for help being carried through difficult content then bail on those helping you. Don't do it, GAF

Shadow Price vs. the Vanquisher though, has anybody used both weapons yet? Except for the smaller mag size the Vanquisher seems to be the best legendary AR right now, at least on paper.
Same shit as Green/Blue armor.

I got to level 2 yesterday, the Hunter cloak looks sexy (it's shiny) and the rare hand cannon is decent. Rest of her stuff is meh.
Wearing the shader gives you a 10% increase.

When you do the vanguard tiger and you get the golden shader there are more loot symbols. Is that a bug or do you get more stuff that just doesn't fit the two spots?
New Monarchy, eh? Another bad choice, I'm with Dead Orbit. Doesn't matter though, I planned on ranking up all factions anyway.

Imo Vanguard is the best faction. It has the biggest selection and Shadow Price. Light/Beware is a beast also.
New Monarchy is shit. Once I got the Judgment Shotgun as reward for level 3 I quit with it, had Invective anyway. All those optional factions are shit. They are working with Crucible marks only. Fine and dandy but I hardly play that anymore. When I do Tiger, Nightfall, Weekly and a short Public farm I am about halfway through Vanguard cap.

I wish there was a way to convert mass amounts of the armor mats into shards. Shards are criminally scarce in this game.
I shouldn't have to create an alt and farm public events just to get a decent number of shards for progression.

They patched out the ability to get ass shards. It made everyone stop playing the Queen missions if they already got what they wanted. The Epic modifiers are not worth slogging through for armor that gives nothing back.

For real? I was only getting 75xp for the 50xp bounties and that was due to nightfall, didn't notice any bonus for the rosegold shader that I had equipped after leveling her up to 1.

Farm materials and sell them. 50 of any material = 5 crucible marks plus reputation.
Is there a better chance at shards from public events with an alt?
Yeah, it sucks, especially when we know the only reason they're so scarce is just to slow us down.
On another note does anyone have Doctor Nope and think it's OK? My best auto rifle at the moment is the notorious Shingen-E.
