Shadow Price vs. the Vanquisher though, has anybody used both weapons yet? Except for the smaller mag size the Vanquisher seems to be the best legendary AR right now, at least on paper.

I really dig the Vanquisher VIII. I have not used the Shadow Price, but I think both are probably excellent. The Vanquisher VIII baseline model synergizes extremely well.

I do want a second Suros so I can use one in normal Crucible, un-upgraded.

The Tiger, level 24, runs!

Those times were from Tiger strikes?! Very impressed, particularly with bullet sponges like Phogoth and the Nexus.

I started using this map for public events, it seems to be more accurate than the website.

I've found the website to be particularly accurate within 3-4 minutes of a stated time, particularly WarSat defense and Devil Walker takedowns in Skywatch and The Divide respectively. With Skywatch though you've got a chance of a WarSat Defense "turning into" a non-PE mob fight between Fallen and Hive (which is, personally, a lot more satisfying to fight).

They patched out the ability to get ass shards. It made everyone stop playing the Queen missions if they already got what they wanted. The Epic modifiers are not worth slogging through for armor that gives nothing back.

Yeah, I was hoping there was a chance at a strange coin or mote of light instead, but I'll keep the chest as a souvenir of the event instead.

No its shit. Bad recoil, impact that can't even cut through butter. Its an ammo burner.

I don't have it but I have Atheons and its a carbon copy of that gun with Void added.

Atheons gun is the same as Doctor Nope but with Void? That would be disappointing, as Doctor Nope is... uh... not the easiest gun to use. Switching btw my Suros and my Dr Nope is always so jarring.

Cool. I was cautious about that impact stat. I'll pick up either a legendary fusion or heavy to alt when I have either icebreaker or Super Good Advice equipped. I already got The Devil You Know as a Vanguard Rank 3 reward luckily.

Who's down to play a lvl24 Daily Heroic Strike with me soon? I'm lvl27 SunBro Warlock. I could be persuaded to do lvl28 if you've already got one other and you could compensate for my level mismatch.

Add me if you're down: PSN Phife24

I can attest to that. I have both maxed. Suros wins hands down even without void damage. You might take shields down faster, but the lack of impact is very apparent after.

I have nearly 60 from 1 week of playing.

The easiest way to get shards is to level up other characters. Doing the daily 3 times a day and the public event 3 times a day means almost 10 (shards/energy) per day in under an hour of work.

Quick question,

I am trying to figure which are the best legendary weapons? I understand that it can be subjective but I know some have really awsome perks. I am trying to figure out which Sniper Rifles, Hand Cannons, Fusion Rifles and Bazookas I should look out for in the wild and in the shops. So Destiny Gaf, which guns in these categories do you think are the best?

Anyone care to help settle an arguement my friend and I are having?

The setup: I play primarily on PS4, my friend plays only on PS3 and has the PS3 version of Destiny. Lately he has been crushing it at Crucible. Posting great scores, top 3 most games.

The argument: Another friend of ours said that he is only doing so good because most (not all) really serious gamers bought a PS4 and are playing on that. Also said that PS3 was never a FPS powerhouse anyway and a large number of hardcore skilled FPS players either played on 360 or played on 360 and moved to PS4.

The conclusion: I'm not sure how to feel about this. My buddy is good at games but definitely not skilled enough to put up the numbers he seems to in the Crucible on PS3. Do you guys think that the overall skill level is higher among the players on PS4? Do my other friends reasons for that being the case seem legit?

Yes, I think it's 10% each for shader/emblem/class item.

I might have that confused with the emblem. Either way both do that.

And the bungie info graph said that. Might be more I guess?

Well then I unintentionally made it to halfway past level 2 queens rep without doing a single crucible bounty. Don't think it will be possible to get to level 3 and check out that other shader in time.

Oh well, poor Draksis and Raksis will be glad I won't be killing them everyday :P

That would take longer than playing a couple of PvP games a day.

The mars chest run apparently can give 400 relic iron per hour. That's 40 marks in one hour. 1 hour of pvp will probably give you maximum of 18 marks if you win all matches.

Hand cannons = Devil You Know and Lord High Fixer are both great

AR = Shadow Price, Grim Citizen, and Vanquisher

Is it worth it to do the Nightfall more than once in a week or do the rewards have to reset like with Heroics etc.?

hell no. What was Bungie thinking with this? I helped a friend complete his nightfall and got nothing for my trouble (Cause I already did it earlier in the week).

Should reward folks for helping their boys. Right now as it stands its a massive waste of time to redo far as I can tell

Thanks. I was getting ready to replay it just now.

I really want to love this game, but I'm coming to the conclusion that this game just wasn't made for people like me. I'm a father of a 2 year old boy, house, wife, full time job, etc etc. I just don't have the time to grind.

Same here except I've got a 1 and 4 year old. If it wasn't for being able to remote play with the Vita I probably wouldn't have attempted this game. I play for maybe an hour a night and 3 hours weekend nights. That said, I'm also level 27 and haven't had a single legendary drop. I hit level 21 last week just doing campaign, patrols and bounties. Then used vanguard marks (had 135 marks when I hit vanguard rank 2) to buy arms and boots that got me to 23. Then I got help from fellow gaffers to run the queens missions and got the helm and chest, and after a bit of helium farming I got to 27 this weekend. It's possible, you just need to manage game time efficiently.

If you get 1 or so hours a night, load up on bounties, do the daily heroic and a public event. If you can squeeze in a strike too thats gravy.

Do those public event tracker sites actually work? So far I haven't had any luck with them.

I use a combination of destinypublicevents.com and the Destiny Patroller app for android. I'd say I had an 80% success rate and I was doing A LOT of pub events the last day & a half trying to score an elusive single ass shard.

I have nearly 60 from 1 week of playing.

You are like a Cardinal in the Church of RNGesus then. I haven't gotten that many in total since I started playing the game at launch, and I play quite a bit and do the dailies, etc..

While I agree that's totally a valid way to game it, if that's the endgame Bungie had planned-- grinding out 3 alts so you can reliably farm upgrade mats-- then that's sad.

They were also in the Alpha and Beta. Definitely freaked me out the first time I ran into them considering the level cap was 8 lol The Grottos is a cool place that I wish had a bit more to it other than being a shortcut. It's a nice change of scenery in Old Russia. I'm surprised with some of the Hive devices/architecture down there that there isn't a Patrol mission that requires you to go there for a Scan or Assassination mission; though I guess the high level enemies make that impractical.

There's an entrance/exit to the Seraphim Vault there. We'll be seeing it in DLC.

Put him in front of your PS4.

The flawed matchmaking in this game is starting to make me feel like I'm playing The Thing video game for PS2, while also trying to finish a strike. It's basically making me keep a constant paranoid eye on my teammates, not because they'll turn into The Thing, but because I need to make sure they don't afk or just straight up depart. Which is usually my cue to leave too, because fuck trying to kill certain bosses with just two players.
Yeah, this really freaks me out too. I step forward and look at my teammates before heading out just to make sure they're following. It's depressing to finally get through the loading screens just to have one of them leave. On the other hand, I'm pretty happy when all three of us seem eager to do the strikes.
Same here, doing invective third time now.
I did the one for Super good advice a second time just so I could break it down for shards. I'm waiting on the weapon changes before I dump my Universal Remote and Bad Juju. The last thing I needed was a shotgun primary and I personally think Bad Juju is fugly.

So iron banner tomm? Other guys with vex mythoclast trying to form a team? I think we should call ourselves "the scumbags"

I believe I have 4 people on my list with it. (Which makes me think the gun isn't as rare anymore)

I can't really blame Bungie for this though. You only have to do this if you really want to grind out shards as soon as humanly possible. I think the general progression arc that Bungie has set is pretty fair, but everyone wants to be level 30 light within 2 days of starting the game.

Lol it just seems like a coincidence. Normal people buy the game on ps4. If anything the population is probably more diverse on the ps4

This confuses me as well. Seems to go against their desire for creating social experiences since if my friend has already completed the NF Strike because he had more time then I did, there's little incentive-- other than my thanks-- to run it again. Can't upgrade that gear with Gratitude, though.

nothing wrong with that. games of this nature give the player plenty of content and a reason to go back and replay it every single day.

destiny is the only game i've played that doesn't want me to play it again until next week.

Slammin_Hammon and Angry Guy - Thanks for taking me through the daily mission on 28 on my level 27 Hunter. You guys are good. I decided to take the rest of the afternoon off.

Now... anyone want to help me out on my level 26 Titan with the daily mission? It's a quick mission and I'd like to max my materials and marks.

Close to 4 weeks now and we have so few 30's.

Zombie Apocolypse is a great machine gun. Quite accurate at range with manageable recoil. I have a void and an arc version and they make quick work of those shield types.

The only legendary fusion rifle I have is a wizard 77 (I think it is called) which seems ok but doesn't stack compared to plan c exotic.

I got two supremacy snipers from queens wrath. They work well, but start with very high zoom and level slowly.

For the shotgun, the comedian is really good, but the invisible hand actually feels better.

I don't have a legendary rl or any primaries yet.

That is the way to go, for sure. 27 coins per week from the heroic isn't bad either. 3x the raid loot also, and 3 chances at sweet nightfall goodies.

Hand cannons = Devil You Know and Lord High Fixer are both great

AR = Shadow Price, Grim Citizen, and Vanquisher

Vanquisher is amazing on everything.. until the Raid. Then it becomes pretty much worthless. I mean its good for all the goblin adds, but so should just about any legendary. The issue comes when it can't take down an oracle in one clip at max upgrade. Thats when the 22 magazine really turns into a road block and can fuck you over. Everything other then raiding though, yeah that thing kicks ass. Its practically an automatic scout rifle.

(idk if theres really any legendary primaries outside the raid specific weapons that can take down an oracle in one clip, I'm just sharing my experience with the one I have)

So I noticed hive enemies have non orange shields during epic modifier. They look blueish or kind of purple. Void and Arc don't seem to do anything and neither does Solar. Is this just a generic, non elemental shield they throw on enemies to make it arbitrarily harder? I have a nearly fully leveled legendary scout rifle and I can't even kill a single knight 1 on 1 without using grenades, special or heavy. If I shoot him with my primary, I can literally not lower his shield fast enough, despite having a 280 attack weapon. Are scout legendaries all this garbage? It fucking blows, I can't solo shit.

I think that's mostly due to the luck required to hit 30 (sounds ridiculous in its own right) and people like me have to be stuck due to not getting the right drops.

RNG in this game has been mostly very unkind to me :(

I just need the damn raid boots to get to 30. Then, I can forget about Destiny till December.

getting loaded up on info and some of this will probably be in a tips and tricks post but here are some quick PSAs:

  1. The guaranteed engrams from the Tiger strike playlist are useful in some unexpected ways. If you turn them in in bulk (no need to worry about your inventory as everything goes to the postmaster), you're likely to get a few strange coins and motes of light. In addition, you can put them in the bank to give to an alt to decrypt. It appears the lowest level Rare gear is 10. I decrypted a handful of engrams on my Warlock at 8, and when I turned 10 I had a full set of excellent blue gear waiting. I will be using this method to get some blue slots filled post-20 as well. You can also just give these to alts to dismantle for their upgrade parts.
  2. This one's old news, but remember when you create an alt, you can immediately switch to the second subclass if you want to level it from the very beginning. I spent 5 levels of XP on Voidwalker even though I want to level Sunsinger first because I forgot to swap.
  3. If you send me a Destiny fireteam invite blind, it's more likely than not I won't respond to it. :( Joining a Fireteam in Destiny interrupts your current activity immediately and puts you into a loading screen. Without any idea of what you're looking for a team to do, I can't just join and then check and easily return if needed. I also have no way to know, even from looking at you on the roster, if you're at the beginning or end of a strike, want help with what you're doing or want to start something new after, etc. The best thing to do is always to send a PS message. Joining or inviting me to a PSN party is also good because we can just talk without it pulling me out of an activity, but sometimes I am AFK or on remote play and can't respond to these. I will always respond to messages as soon as I see them though!
