Marvel's Phase 3 Announced: includes Black Panther, Captain Marvel

This appears to confirm that Marvel consider a trilogy of solo films enough. No sign of an Iron Man 4 (and Iron Man 3 pretty much resolved Stark's arc (ahem) in the solo films anyway), and it sounds like Cap 3 and Thor 3 will be the end of the road for their solo adventures.

I firmly expect Avengers 3 Part 1/2 is going to kill off a chunk of the cast. And not comic book dead, actually dead.

Someone please update that giant schedule now that we know DC/Marvel plans and are just waiting on Fox/Sony.

You know, Avengers 2 is titled Age of Ultron, and has nothing to do with the Age of Ultron comic arc.

Could be something similar going on with Cap 3/Civil War. The comic version doesn't really translate over to the MCU, so I expect a lot of changes to be made.
They said in the conference that it will be "very different from the comics"

We live in a world where we get a Ms Marvel movie and a Black Bolt movie?

Thank GOD. (Thank Marvel, actually.)

Thank Whedon!

I'm so damn happy about Black Panther and Ms. Marvel. Thank you Marvellllllllll

And ah shit just saw Inhumans got a date too? I can't. ; ;

It's crazy to think how hyped Infinity War will be.

I mean, how many films have been building towards it? It has to be considered one of the greatest accomplishments in film history if it gets pulled off well.

the only thing anywhere near that I can think of is during LOTR pre-production.. where people could absolutely not believe the scope of all three movies that they were making simultaneously.

and yes, that is even dwarfed compared to this. They will have been building toward Infinity War for 7 years by that point.. and who knows how many movies..

You are kidding yourself if you think Avengers 3 will be the last. They are making way, way too much money to stop now. Barring an unforeseen crash of the superhero movie market, there will surely be more Avengers movies. Hell, Feige himself said they have a plan through 2028 at the least.

wat

14 more years? surely people will be tired of comic book movies by that time

YEah I could see that. If RDJ and Evans are just dead set on not doing any more marvel movies I think that would be the best course of action, rather than recasting them or using some "alternate dimension" cop-out. It would be pretty epic though. I wonder if we could see one of them (RDJ?) dying as sort of the cliff hanger of Avengers 3 pt 1, which also gives Marvel an out contract wise to not have to use them in Avengers 3 pt 2.

It really would be. He's a pretty comical character at times, and the idea of Planet Hulk is definitely goofy enough to fit in to GotG territory.

Yeah I think the problem with solo Hulk movies could be that Hulk himself can't really carry a movie as a character, so making him the "straight man" to the Guardians makes sense.

I wasn't even close to prepared for this. Black Panther and Captain Marvel sounded like pipedreams that I easily dismissed as rumours.

And now I find out that BP is going to appear in Cap 3. Someone hold me please.

Any chance that the use of a number (which Marvel seems to be avoiding since the Iron Man movies) and the obviously not final title screen are because the real title could be spoilery for AoU?

Like, if it contained the word 'Hulk'?

EDIT: Oh shit, the post above me beat me to it.

Can I hope for GotG: Annihilation Conquest instead? Since, y'know, Ultron?

It's not some sort of competition.

I`m not saying it is? I'm saying the article's point being that DC is leading the way in diversity is still mostly true.

Regardless, competition in this sense is a good thing and Marvel and DC are both doing very awesome things as today has indicated

Captain Marvel's logo is the coolest IMO. I don't know anything about Captain Marvel but the style of the logo grabs my attention right away.

I feel like I need to start reading literally ALL of the Marvel comics to understand the background for all of this.

How do I even do that?

Marvel delivers again.

I know a lot of people probably not as excited as me, but I'm most hyped for Thor: Ragnarok:
Hemswoth and Hiddleston will return for the third film, which teases “The end of all things,” as Feige said. He said it will pick up after Avengers 2 and “revitalize the character.”

Feige's comment has me put a lot of faith into it.

So for Civil War the character that might be used are:

Captain America
Iron Man
Hawkeye
Black Widow
Nick Fury
Maria Hill
Daredevil
Luke Cage
Mockingbird
Winter Soldier
Falcon
Ant-Man

(Wasp)
(Hulk)
(Thor)

probably forgetting a whole lot more but I think it can work.

Marvel's website just updated with stuff:

- Marvel: Marvel Pits Captain America & Iron Man in a Cinematic Civil War
Chris Evans will once again reprise his role as Captain America, joined by Robert Downey, Jr. as Iron Man and Chadwick Boseman, who will make his big screen debut as the Black Panther in the film.
- Marvel: Chadwick Boseman to Star in Marvel's Black Panther
As part of his presentation of the full slate for Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has announced that Chadwick Boseman will bring the Black Panther to life beginning with his role in Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War,” in theaters May 6, 2016, before starring in his own solo film, Marvel's "Black Panther," on November 3, 2017.
- Marvel: Marvel's The Avengers Head Into an Infinity War
Fans have clamored to see Black Panther make the jump to the big screen in his own solo adventure, and come November 3, 2017 they’ll get just that!

How big of a threat does Thanos pose, you ask? Big enough to span two epic films, beginning with Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War Part 1” on May 4, 2018, and concluding in Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War Part 2” on May 3, 2019 for one massive cinematic event.
- Marvel: Captain Marvel Soars Into the Marvel Cinematic Universe
“This Captain Marvel’s name is Carol Danvers," said Feige. "This film has been in the works almost as long as Doctor Strange or Guardians of the Galaxy before it came out, and one of the key things was figuring out what we wanted to do with it. Her adventures are very earthbound, but her powers are based in the cosmic realm.”

Holy shit! Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Inhumans, Avengers 3 2-parter for a total of 11 movies! No Iron Man 4, no Avengers 3: Civil War and Avengers 4: Infinity Gauntlet. This is possibly the best lineup they could have done (not taking the content of each movie into consideration). The only thing better would have been a solo Black Widow, Nova or Planet Hulk movie.

And I love how Thor: Ragnarok was called long ago by most of the internet.

Not sure how I feel about Civil War being just a Captain focused movie.

Something like that I think they could get away with it just being called "Marvel: Civil War".

Marvel's mutant characters that aren't called mutants and aren't owned by Fox.

They're alot like mutants, since Marvel/Disney can't use the X-Men.
You guys do realize that the Inhumans have been around since the 60s right?

I agree that its good, but you never explained how the bolded is still true.

What are the odds something like Captain Universe appears before the endgame?
I want Captain America to rank up so he can tango with Thanos

I think they are going to take the general idea of the Civil War storyline and streamline it to a self-contained Cap story.
