So excited to see all of these.

That Black Panther costume is amazing, can't wait to see it on the screen.

Also, very much looking forward to not just Captain Marvel, but how her powers will be shown.
I think they have some great opportunities for some cool visuals.

I'll believe it when I see it. The words 'climax' and 'MCU' are completely estranged at this point.

This isn't comics, actors are going to get too old, solo film series will finish, so yes, there will be climaxes and characters ending.
It doesn't mean the MCU is ending with Infinity War, but that whole storyline from the first three Phases is, and it's probabably going to be taking a lot of characters with it.

Their talk about the Inhumans potentially spawning many solo film series in itself is telling. I think Phase Four is going to be very different, with a lot of new series and a new direction.

There is literally nothing you could do to make me excited for the DCU movies. Marvel is killing it.

Why does it have to be one or the other?

Anywho, I'm actually kinda glad X-men is its own thing. The more I think about it, the more I feel it wouldn't fit well within the MCU. Inhumans is a better substitute since they avoid the whole persecution thing.

Yeah, let the MCU and DC fanboys wank at each other while Singer and company make the satisfying standalone romps.

Here's a /Film article that is a transcript of the Q&A sesh.

I thought this was an interesting bit:

Is there room for the Defenders to show up on the big screen?

The Netflix series are leading to a Defenders series, and Devin is asking about including them into the features at some point, because Infinity War is going to be big. There are a lot of people from the movies (chuckles) in Infinity War. A lot of it is about space, and a lot of it is about just what happens between now and then. But all of those things inhabit, however far on the outskirts, the same continuity. So certainly that opportunity exists.

It doesn't, it's just that the DCU announcements seem utterly tepid in comparison. Also, I thought the Inhumans moved to Attilan because they were sick of persecution?

To be clear, I'm not saying the DCU movies won't be good, I'm saying that I'm just simply not excited at all for them.

nhumans is a better substitute since they avoid the whole persecution thing.

that's the most interesting thing about the x-men and since the x-men are the most interesting superheroes ever it's the most interesting thing about superheroes, period, wthhhhh

they're basically the x-men but UNINTERESTING

and this is coming from someone who thinks the x-movies are as boring as dirt, still, the inhumans are no substitute

I hope Thor 3 is Winter Soldier caliber. The Dark World was okay, but what a letdown of a villain, especially for one that wanted to freaking obliterate reality.

But this one is called Ragnarok, so... fucking, end of the world. That ought be good.

I'm sure there's legitimate marvel fans that hate on dc but I've chalked it up to bandwagoner type attitudes for most people. The one poster who hated on heath ledger then ended up with a TDK joker avatar is the prime example of people when I think of haters.

It's truly amazing what Marvel has done with this whole concept. So many moving parts over so many years...jesus.

This so freaking much. The planning and execution of the MCU is absolutely INSANE. It's completely unprecedented and they're making it work so freaking well.

Do you guys think they're planning to stop or at least take a break after Infinity War? Unless they have a huge wave of renewed contracts, I can't see it staying as big as it's been past IW. I'm probably wrong though.

Yeah Feige said Ragnarok will elevate Thor to TWS level and will impact the MCU on a similar scale.

They have movies planned through 2028. Nothing stops this train, nothing.

Surtur, baby.

I don't know who this is, but he better not disappoint.

16 actresses not named Katee Sackhoff who could play Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel

Yvonne Strahovski

Yes, I can see her as Captain Marvel.

Katheryn Wynnick
KatherynWinnick.jpg

People say she could do it based on Vikings, so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.

Charlize Theron
CharlizeTheron1.jpg

No. Not cause I think she's a bad actor, but I just don't think she's the best actor for the role. She always comes off as too severe.

Natalie Dormer

Nah.

Emma Stone

I am really excited about the new Cap movie. He's one of my least favorite Marvel characters and I disliked the first cap movie. But god damn Cap 2 was the best film I've seen all year, it completely blew me away. As a bonus it has my favorite Marvel hero so I've got high expectations for Cap 3

I think they would probably rest some of the early franchises and keep pushing the cosmic, inhuman and supernatural franchises.

I believe they will be going in a new direction after that. It sounds like they will be focusing on new heroes mainly (like the Inhumans, which they're of course building up as the replacement X-Men, so they can be a franchise unto themselves) and probably more Cosmic Marvel and the newly introduced supernatural Marvel (with Dr Strange).

It'll be the start of a new story arc I guess, too. A lot of the older characters are probably not making it past Infinity War.

I don't think the persecution thing works in the MCU setting. It barely works in the comics where periodically people will point out "uuuuh...Cap, Thor? Wanna do something about that genocide? No? Ok."

The inhumans are nice because they can help build a bridge directly between Earth and cosmic stuff. The secret race living among us is neat, imho, and offers up some good story opportunities.

With WB publicly talking about finding a woman director for WW; that does make me think they might be trying to flat-out pander (why publicly announce that you're looking for a female director unless you are looking for good PR? Just hire one if you really want to bring a new perspective to the film); which worries me. I don't want diversity to be some kind of metric that ends up being gamified and then used to the letter of the metric rather than the spirit. Last thing I want is a 30 second scene in every movie with two women talking about the news so they can all pass the Bechdel test and then ignoring any development of said characters the rest of the movie.

WB isn't talking about any of that publicly. Trade magazines with sources close to production are the ones who brought it up.

So how likely do you guys think it is that the MCU changing event in Thor: Ragnarok is gonna be the same as the comic?

Asgard and all the gods end up on earth

Feige related it and hyped it exactly like that saying it'll basically be in similar vein to TWS and be crucial to Phase 3/MCU.

Whatever it takes to get me a Jason Aaron inspired Thor movie.
