The Ward War Tally

#TeamGrant (5): Neoxon, RyosukeTH, the_firewithin, TacticalFox88, Choppasmith
#TeamChristian (1): bananafactory

Another awesome episode. DeKay is a great addition as Senator (Congressman?) Ward. And now Grant's a fugitive. He best not get redeemed. His delusion that he's still part of the team and Phil bitch-slapping him about that was amazing.

No Kyle Machlachlan this episode made me sad. He's so nutty.

I dig Fitz and Discount Dwayne Johnson's friendship. That's great. The stuff between Fitz and Simmons is getting tense.

That ending with Ward being walked through the HQ before being black-bagged was awesome. Also, Talbot now being on the level with SHIELD was great. At least the world doesn't just look at SHIELD as the out and out bad guys now. That twist with the Belgian was crazy.

Who the heck is the guy with the alien writing tattooed at the end? Original character or from the comics?

I <3 Bobbi. She's so effortlessly awesome.

#TeamGrant as long as he keeps the beard. If he goes back to clean shaven he loses some of his awesome factor.

Also it doesn't help that I only see Tim DeKay as Peter Burke and not a legitimate threat.

I am in love with Bobbi. And even more so with Lance.

The increase in quality this season has really been something. I'm really excited to watch the rest of this season unfold.

I've told you guys since after the pilot. First seasons can often end up being shit, and great series can still come from them. But everyone would just prophecy doom.

Also, both Wards are fuckers. I'm on #TeamThomas.

Not me. When has Season 1 of a whedon show ever been the best it had to offer?

-I saw Tripp during the recap. And he might have looked at Ward when he was leaving. And he came down the stairs to talk to Coulson. If his appearances were a drinking game I'd still be sober.
-I'm liking the globe-trotting being done by the team, very Alias-like. Japan, Belgium, the UN (New York?) and the senator's office (Washington?)
-How did Talbot break his arm when we saw a disc flying in his direction? The logo disintegrating was a nice touch.
-May as the exasperated parent to Bobbi and Hunter's bickering was great. I wonder who her ex is.
-The ambiguity between whether Christian or Grant is the manipulative one was good. I think both are lying to get what they want, and the show didn't really pick a side.
-The exchange and escape were interesting. I firmly believe Coulson did the exchange to stop the witch-hunt against SHIELD (and was more important than whatever intel Ward had). Maybe he let Ward escape, but Coulson wouldn't sacrifice lives to do it. And yes he was under-constrained (no chains on legs, hood removed in the van) but I can overlook that.
-The twist with the Belgian minister was unexpected.
-First thing Ward looks for: a razor.
-Bobbi had great hair in this episode. Almost S1 Skye-level.

My favourite part of the episode was that we didn't need Ward to break out. The show has numerous storylines to pursue and while important, it wasn't necessary to put Ward on the run to advance the plot.

I said the same thing.

That being said, expecting people to be patient and wait for a show to get better a full 22 episode season in 2014 is unrealistic and unreasonable.

The trap has been sprung!

Fitz and Simmons would make a good Link and Zelda.

unintentional coincidence....? ...

put them all together and what do you get? The title to the most recent Zelda game...

oh, I guess it was intentional after all :)

I know and I went in knowing that it was a trap >_> and
thats not Hyrule Warriors :P

not sure who would be link .

the one who has less dialog, silent hero, etc.

anyways, now that I am here, I've liked most of Marvel movies, and this thread seems to be full of positive reactions, does anything here ties into the movies or upcoming netflix series at all? that might be the final push I need to start watching this

You know when Simmons said "If I ever see you again, I'll kill you."

I almost wanted Ward to say something along the lines of "Good luck." or "Get in line."

I love Serenity but it was too compressed (and had to be) to end the originally planned plot line. Firefly was better paced and allowed for more natural development.
But if Serenity had had the time to tell its story as it should have, it would have been by far superior to season one of Firefly. So as I said, season one of Firefly was not the best that that show had to offer.

That's almost exclusively due to budget differences between Movies and TV shows. If you're going to compare the two, you really have to look at the writing.

Well it got better during season 1 still. :P I understand why people wouldn't be interested in the show or whatnot based on its comparably poor quality in overall season 1, but man, so many people came into the season 1 thread and just shat on the show and everything it did, including a mod. It was pretty disheartening, cause I enjoyed even most of season 's "bad" episodes to a degree.
And now praise is raining down from every corner and naysayer from before and it's kinda weird.
