C'mon Marvel, give this guy another chance

It still throws me off every time someone mentions the 08 Hulk being part of the MCU. It just doesn't feel like it fits. Probably because of the recast, but I think there's other stuff that makes it feel off too.
You'd be forgiven not noticing.

he directed the aggressively mediocre Thor 1

Yeah the original Thor. Damn good film imo as well.
Weird, I never would have guessed that he directed that.

It's the recast and the different Hulk design.

it's not just that, I can't imagine Norton Banner to act like Ruffalo Banner at all and vice versa. they felt like totally different character.

I had no problem with James Rhodes recast, I can see them as still being the same character between Terrence Horwad and Don Cheadle.

Guardians is the only upcoming film though I could see Hulk realistically appearing in. If not that then I suppose we will never see the character outside Avengers which would be a bummer.

At least the Hulk really shines in the avenger's movies. Need more of that Banner v Stark banter. They have their sights to keep MCU going up through 2028, I think it would be pretty conceivable for them to fit it in later down the road.

I get the Gotg2 oppertunity, but I feel tossing the Hulk in their would be a bit too scatterbrained.

Probably the fact that literally everything about it has been dropped. Even Downey's cameo -- the biggest connective element in the film -- was retconned later :lol

It was good. It could have been so much better without the stupid love interest angle and with more focus on the Asgardians, but they had to bring Thor to earth, so it kind of works. The movie is fun, it's just not what I hoped for.

There was no love triangle in Thor 1, that shit was in TDW.

Other than the fishy Guardians sequel not having a subtitle to it's name, and hulk going nuts in the Age of Ultron trailer, no, but it's looking like it COULD be a thing, or at least an idea is there

Fuck that. I don't care how right you will eventually turn out. Ape Planet Hulk as much as possible. GOTG come in to help Hulk liberate the planet and shit. He'll be the muscle.

Because it's still being distributed by Universal Pictures so Marvel doesn't get all the money from it, hence the distance they try to put between it and the rest of the MCU

I'm interested, in what way?

for one, Norton seems much more active even as Banner, he's also looks like more fit than Ruffalo, can hold on his own in an action scene for a bit, while Ruffalo looks more weaker, more helpless and vulnerable.

when military comes after Norton Banner, he ran away and after he got away, he risk coming back home for sample trying to cure himself. Ruffalo on the other hand, when Black Widow try to get him, he didn't try to run away, just try to talk things out and eventually go along.

I can kinda see the character development that go through that make Norton Banner become Ruffalo Banner off screen, but the contrast between them, plus the recast and different Hulk, just make it harder to see them as same character. also Norton Banner didn't seem like the kind of guy that can let go of Betty easily while Ruffalo Banner didn't even look like he remember Betty, like he really left everything behind him.

not saying I don't like both version, I like that Hulk movie, even when everyone don't seem to think much of the movie. the more fit action-y Banner is fresh for me at the time, not following the nerd scientist stereotype and the action scenes are great. Ruffalo seems more like I imagine Banner is though, more nerdy, weak, passive and disheveled.

I'm the guy who legitimately likes Iron Man 3, and while Iron Man 2 was bad, it wasn't as bad as Thor 1.

But hey, I haven't seen Thor 1 in years, so I'll try again and get back to you. I do remember Thor 2 being better though, despite its major flaws

I actually just finished watching Hulk again, and I have to say It's not bad. The Abomination was a bit meh, It was sort of strange that It felt like a recast sequel to Bana Hulk...

Captain America 1 and Iron Man 2 are far worse films than Thor 1. The first half of Cap 1 is solid but the second half is awful. And Iron Man 2 start to finish is just not good.
