I wouldn't put First Class in the same sentence with DoFP. And I wouldn't say any xmen film has ever been as good as the comic books have portrayed them over the decades.

We will still have to see what the end product is, but I don't see why you need to make some bad ass super-villain a computer programmer when one of your heroes is a rock guy. They are taking a grounded approach to a group of characters that don't translate into that style as well Batman and his villains. And personally, I think making Doom some anti-social, internet guy is a way bigger leap than the Batman stuff.

Well wasn't he an inventor (like so many comic book villains) in the original?

Is being an inventor really bad ass by default?

These are honest questions as I don't know much about Dr Doom.
 
im down for it. i like the risks they are taking with this movie. i've already read years worth of ~badass~ dr doom stories in the comics, so im ready for a radical new shift.

He is and much more.

In the comics he's a sorcerer, scientist, and ruler of a nation. He's arguably the smartest person on the planet next to Reed Richards. He's always a step ahead of every one in his plans and rarely, if ever, is he actually backed into a corner.
 
So they take one of the greatest villains in all of comics and turn him into some fucking dweeb? This movie is sounding worse and worse. I might go see it just for laughs.
 
Let this forever stand as Exhibit A in the evidence lineup any time someone tears into "Marvel Fanboys" for wanting Disney to get the rights to as many properties as possible back.

I'm just wondering if many of those traits will be rolled into the "anti social programmer / blogger" at some point. If he's the smartest programmer in the world for instance, that would make him a powerful "scientist" in the modern world.

Ah I see; but I still wonder... just because the modern Doom has Programmer/Blogger on his "resume" doesn't mean he also doesn't have a lot of the other Doom's aspects. Computer programming is in fact a science.

I don't get it either.

It's 2014. The Avengers was the third highest grossing movie of all time. Why are they still afraid to be faithful to the comics?

Still looking forward to this. Chronicle was amazing enough that the first trailer for this is either going to see this soaring or sink like a stone.
