Fox doesn't care about this franchise. This movie was put together on a shoestring budget as fast as possible to retain the rights, as it's been 7 years since the release of Rise of the Silver Surfer. They are kicking the can down the road just so they don't have to think about it until 2021.

...has me rethinking that position. I know Doom as depicted in the comics is a little hard to translate to a non-campy live action movie but I have a hard time believing there isn't a better way to do it than what that description implies.

I donno...Victor Van Damme just makes me think of Jean Claude Van Damme...which I'm pretty sure is the opposite of what you're supposed to think of when you think of Doom.

Yes. Funny enough the 94 version isn't that bad considering the time it was made and compared to what Fox has produced.
