LGBTQIA Thread |OT5| Can't even drink straight

NEVER post in this thread (I think I have 2 posts among all the OTs), but...

I kinda accidentally came out tonight to some people I never had the courage to do it to, and they were totally cool with it!

I freaking hate coming out to people, because it kills me on the inside building up to it, and EVERY TIME, the reaction is "we knew" or one of general indifference. I'm taking years off my life with this stress, and I'm the only one who actually cares.

I also hate coming out, but at least you got it over with now! That's pretty great that they were cool with it. How did you accidentally come out to them though?
 
Ended up losing my temper at my mother today. She was passive-aggressively attempting to force my sister not to look (not necessarily go; look) into the Air Force. I got fed up with them arguing and screamed at the two of them. She got over it a couple hours later (my sister laughed it off) but I still feel crappy for it.

2/3rds of mine end with me being hunted, dying or in the process of horrible mutilation (like last night when I dreamed I was barfing giant intestinal parasites that looked like a cross between an Ascaris worm and a Lamprey)

That's a lot already. :p That said I'm not going to be buying many either, mostly because it's a pain to find ones that are satisfactory as far as Quality Assurance goes.

Ack. That's never fun. Just have faith and be responsible (and cautious!) and everything should turn out fine!

Ah, good to see more of my friends here!

I used to have much the same problem, mostly when I wasn't still out to my whole family.

Nowadays I always remind myself that if they don't like it they're not worth holding onto as friends. Rejection is hard, yeah, but I frame coming out more as a test of someone else's friendship to you. If they don't accept the reality, they were never really your friends because their friendship was contingent on their own assumptions about you, if I'm making sense. Or to say it with more brevity: Reject them because they only accept an image.

Losing a testicle doesn't compare to what you would have to go through if left untreated. Plus, everything still works correctly even with one.

Yeah, it's understandable. I was nervous when I had my ultrasound as well. Good luck and hopefully it's nothing. If you ever need anything or someone to talk to, feel free to PM me.
 
Ok I know the company has funded some horrible stuff, but I am eating a chic fil a spicy chicken biscuit at the airport and holy shit it is sooooo good.

I was talking about something else, and mentioned that something was "about as awkward as coming out to my grandmother", and decided to not even go back and just move on

Granted, I was a giant glass of Crown Royal and 2 Vodka Redbulls down at this point, so it's not like I would have been able to smooth talked my way out of it anyway!

Considering that close to half of my close extended family is Gay, I knew that my parents would be accepting of me, but it still took me years to finally come out to them, and I'm still not out to my brother (but considering he's one of my best friends, he obviously knows). And where I grew up- in a super upper middle/high class neighborhood with a Jewish population that leads to the schools closing for a lot of the big holidays- there aren't any people who are going to freak out or care about it.

Just typing this makes me feel I should be throwing a bunch of #privileged tags on it, but I literally could not have had a better situation outside of my parents both being bisexual or something.

We had a Chic-fil-a on our campus when I was in college, and I ate there at least 5 times a week. It's literally the best fast food on the planet. Also, has a more courteous staff than the average expensive restaurant, which always makes me happy.

Now if only they were open on Sundays!

That was very dissapointing that he said that, yeah. I wouldn't say that it makes him a bad person though. Just a bit ignorant when it comes to wording his opinions on here (with 4Chan jargon in this case). A lot of people are ignorant like that on the internet so I try to not judge them too hard for that.

BUT I was also disappointed in the GAFfers in the thread who piled on his post, rushing to tell him what a monster he is. I think that that is the wrong way to go about this. Just explain in a calm manner (PM or email) that you think that what he said was offensive to you and why. I'm sure he would understand that. If you pile on him though, he will more likely even start defending his usage of the offensive word, just like he did in the thread.

Wall of text, sorry for that.

I made a cake once and it fell apart on me too, but it was chocolate with chocolate chips in it. So I used the aftermath with vanilla ice cream.
 
I know I don't celebrate it myself, but happy thanksgiving, USists! Nice that the holiday is more peaceful than what it originated from.

Yeah, I have to agree with you there. Boogie is nothing short of peaceful, and GAFers were overzealous in how they reacted to him. Still, it'd be nice if someone just told him. I would have been surprised if he didn't stop it upon careful request.

It never really does stop being awkward, so even in the best conditions some anxiety is still pretty understandable.
 
My Thanksgiving plans: Eat nothing but cornbread (seriously, this one dish that will be present is this hybrid of corn pudding and corn bread and is basically the greatest thing in the world), drink a bunch of beers, and watch the Eagles football game.

For the first time, I was able to get litterally everything I wanted to go out for on Black Friday online today, and thus won't have to go out

-Diablo 3 for PS4 (From Best Buy, so the extra 20% GCU discount)
-Killzone Shadowfall for PS4 from Best Buy
-Edge of Tommorrow on Blu Ray from Best Buy
-Raiders of the Lost Arc Blu Ray from Best Buy
-Spartacus S4 Blu Ray from Amazon
-Skyfall on Blu Ray from Amazon

At this point, I'm just looking at Steam deals (got Shadow Warrior for 3.99 today, thinking about Castlevania LOS2 for 80% off), and maybe at a cheap android tablet just to have Android back in my life again.

Amazon deals always seemed bad to me, but then again, I'm used to -80% off sales from Steam. 😉

Just saw Bayonetta 2 for 32 Euros (without the first game included!). Yeah, the Amazon sale isn't all that spectacular.

I want to buy something, but exams are coming up in two weeks so it might not be advisable. Then, there's the fact that I want to deplete my backlog in half as it's starting to be a bit... Fat. In content.

The question is: should I buy Fantasy Life, Pokémon AS, Freedom Wars, Akiba's Trip or DA:Inquisition?

Dragon Age: Inquisition, easy. Fantasy Life is a great game as a sim but when it comes to RPG elements then DAI as a standard RPG trumps it in that aspect.
Haven't played the Pokemän remake yet and don't know anything about the other two games.

Hah, you must dread sleeping, unless it's all become ho hum by now :p

I have fairly routine 'serial killer' dreams. Like one is stalking me in a deserted building, or I hook up with someone and then they strangle me in the middle of it :/ One time I was actually the serial killer and I had to cover my tracks while dealing with moral qualms in the back of my mind, that was weird.
