Capcom's Hiroyuki Kobayashi : "Unexpected" game announcement "soon"

DMC5 or DD2

redeems ALL of the shit Capcom has done...ALL OF IT.

But what if it's mobile!?

Would be mega surprised if they announce a Vita title (not a port).

The fact the DD page even mentions DMC and DD2, and then assuming this is not what happens, then that would be one of the meanest things anyone could do. Mean!

That is really strange

I would bet on a new IP

but that name dropping alongside the word "unexpected" is some weird stuff

Since I just wrote about DMC3's DTE in another topic, I'm gonna say that when they're making DMC5, I hope they bring back the Devil Trigger Explosion mechanic, but change it so that instead of it being the same for each weapon, each Devil Arm should have a different effect. Only Rebellion should be the same DTE as in DMC3, although slightly toned down in power. It would be quite interesting and would be an expansion of a concept from a previous game in the series that no other game in the genre has, from my knowledge.

The community guys on that site know less than nothing. They have Gamestop employee levels of knowledge.

Gregaman is probably the only one who would know something.

I Don't think capcom could make dmc5 and dd2 simultaneously. You'll remember the dmc4 team went on to make DD. There is no staff to make both.

Dragon's Dogma 2 would make me forgive Capcom. It'll probably be something dumb like Lost Planet 4 with no multiplayer, though.

I wouldn't be surprised if the scale of the games they are going to announce aren't that big. It's probably on the level of Revelations 2. So whatever it is, I'm expecting DL only stuff.

ULTRA SUPLEX HYPEGASM!

Doing this is the best. Doing a Buster Suplex three times on these jokers is so gratifying.

Wasn't dmc 4 pretty forgettable and disappointing? If it's gonna be like the last 2 DMCs would anyone really want it? If they do bring back the devil may cry series they need to take a serious look at what made the first game and dmc 3 great and make a real effort to get back to the series roots.
I personally enjoyed it but there are many out there who look down on it. Id be fine with a new Capcom developed DMC tho, I have to say.

True but they don't have to make DD from scratch anymore, they can reuse assets ala Monster Hunter.

They could theoretically announce both Devil May Cry 5 and Dragon's Dogma 2 simultaneously, but simply say that one will come out before the other. For example;

Devil May Cry 5 - Release date Summer 2015

Dragons Dogma 2 - Release date October 2016

I know I'm totally biased here as a DMC fan but I think DMC5 would be the best good will gesture to their fanbase that isn't related to Mega Man. Yes, Capcom has a few IPs that are sitting in limbo currently and Resident Evil needs to get back to its roots more. But I think a lot of people still have DmC in their memory and kind of saw how long term fans got treated during that. DMC5 = good Capcom image rehab. That and I'm pretty sure Dragons Dogma 2 is happening regardless.

DMC4 was disappointing because it wasn't finished. Imagine what it'd be like if they properly gave Dante his own campaign, bosses and maybe some unlockable styles. And we would finally understand who Nero was and how he fit into the story instead of it being confirmed elsewhere. Capcom seemingly glanced over reactions and decided the best course of action would be to reboot the whole thing, which in turn only made people appreciate DMC4 even more (if I recall, there was a surge in sales when DmC released) and now, 7 years later we finally have a little hope that we can get a true, FULL DMC experience again. Don't take that from us Capcom. Don't you dare.

Just FYI, RE5 is Capcom's best selling game ever and RE6 is their 3rd best (right behind SF2, might surpass it).

I'd hope not. The assets in Dragon's Dogma were crap even for PS3.
They could definitely reuse Deep Down assets though.

The monster design and animation were hardly crap.

Monster designs were neat and the animations were good.

Everything else? Eh... If Dragon's Dogma was a person, it would be the type of person that relies on its personality and not its looks.

I'll take another Ninja Theory DMC if I can get DD2 from Itsuno.

No.

I'd rather have no DMC than have another Ninja Theory DmC

Dammit, you guys have me hyped up for a DMC5 announcement.

I know, I didn't want to get hyped either because it's just a recipe for disappointment. But man, people keep dropping little bits of info that really seem to make everything point in the direction of DMC5. Plus DMC is one of my top 3 favorite franchises ever, so the idea of a new game is almost instant hype anyway.

The only thing better than DMC5 would be a Devil May Cry x Bayonetta game

It's gonna be USF4 for current gen consoles. By "unexpected" they mean that no one would expect them to port USF4 after Ono said they couldn't afford to do it.

That's why we have glorious Ninja Theory.

:( pls no

Capcom has basically "disowned" all of their outsourcing efforts, basically blaming outsourcing for all their console related sales mishaps.

I know. That makes me sad.

Take comfort in that RE5 pretty much rode the wave of hype and goodwill generated by RE4.
