Heh, maybe a smidgen of hyperbole there. Though I am keeping a spreadsheet to track releases and purchases; I've had the entire run thus far preordered through Amazon (minus the three retailer exclusives, obviously). Just waiting on Rosalina! I hope to stop before I become like Warren Spector, who has a separate home to house his Disney memorabilia.

Still nothing. I'll give it a bit, I guess. Paypal is usually immediate, though. No confirmation from paypal OR TRU.
 
Yeah, ordered Pit and Lucario, only ordered Pit because of the B1GB2G1 40% off. They enter the order through for Pit but not Lucario. Cancelled it immediately. Goddammit, TRU.

Aaaaaaand they already charged my card. Come the fuck on, this is ridiculous.
 
I am trying my best to not buy them all. Thankfully the shortages for 3 of them have made it easy, so I'm just going to have ones for characters I like most from franchises I care about or ones that work in multiple games that I'll buy.

So far:

Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Pikachu, Samus, Fox, Yoshi

Pre-ordered for next week:

Captain Falcon, Family getting me Luigi and Diddy Kong for Christmas

Wave 3 Pre-Orders:

Lucario, Toon Link, Bowser, maybe Sonic

I never cared for Fire Emblem or Kirby games really and don't really care enough about Peach, Rosalina etc. to get them

I also intend to get, whenever they come out
Bowser Jr., Duck Hunt Duo, Charizard, Greninja, Jigglypuff, Ganondorf, Wario, Falco, maybe ROB

My poor wallet. If they ever do Pokémon focused amiibo, I'm screwed.

I'll also buy a Captain Toad amiibo at the drop of the hat should it come.
 
I dunno, but I'm feeling like I was really lucky tonight. Walked into my Gamestop and they had one each of WFT, Marth and Villager. Bought all of them.

I guess I should be keeping them for now? I can return them before jan 18 if the whole thing is a fake rumor and more are produced.
 
I want lucario but I don't think I'll ever preorder from toysrus again. The fact that they don't ship to store is bad enoufh but when I preordered three on launch day everything seemed fine then a day before I got a email that Kirby and pikachu were on back order. Then I got an email Yoshi was shipped the next day but the tracking number was bogus. After like 5 days pikachu shipped with standard express shipping so I was kinda happy then I checked my order info and it showed that Kirby was shipped not pikachu. Called em telling them.I think I'm gonna get doubles, they say OK we'll fix it and also send a tracking number for Yoshi. Before I know it another amiibo is at the door its another pikachu. Had to go to the store and exchange it myself. All this and still no Yoshi and still no tracking number. I eventually got him like a week and a half later. Whole thing was a stressful mess especially when I would have been better of just walking into the store on day one and just picking up what I wanted. I'll take my chances with lucario.
 
I'm quite surprised by how successful Amiibos seem to have been since their arrival. When they were first revealed I wouldn't have guessed it. Although I never got into it, the "Skylander" model seemed to me to be a much more (deviously) compelling reason to pick up the figures (i.e. a specific figure directly unlocks that playable character while it's connected), but they seem to be doing very well without moving in that direction (yet, at least).

I've certainly done my part with a Link amiibo, and a few others I want to give out as gifts/have asked for as gifts.

This is what scares me the most as I love the Pokemon and The Legend of Zelda series.

Also, I expect some from Animal Crossing which are probably gonna be really cool.

I somehow feel like I'll never stop collecting them.

This whole situation has forced my hand into pre-ordering Lucario, Meta Knight, and Shulk. I know Rosalina is rumored to be at Target but that hasn't gone up yet.

I'm still shaking my head at the idea that Villager could be discontinued so soon. He was one of the first to sell out on Amazon before they even launched.

Feeling the same way right now. I'm going to see how easy wave 2 (and 2.5 if they split them up) is to grab in store on launch day. If they are still around mid afternoon, then I'm just going to take my chance on Lucario in store.

It feels like less work and stress to drive to the store and pick the figures you want, than to pre-order and ship them... and pray for a good copy. That's pretty scary.

well for the smash series i plan on getting shulk, ddd, bowser jr, and duck hunt.(already own samus and yoshi). maybe ill get greninja depending how it looks. i should probably also get pika too, the bro has been my main since the first game(although hes not my main in smash 4, far too weak imo)
 
Yeah, I'm done trying to get Lucario. They just cancelled Lucario, went through with Pit even though i only got him because of the deal and then charged my card (even though they say it won't be charged until it ships), and the funds are probably going to be on hold for a few days. Fuck off TRU, quit playing these "in stock, out of stock, we'll ship it to the store but not your house" games.

Anyone else have this happen? Or did all you guys' orders go through?

There are 333 villagers in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. If they do amiibo for most of them there shouldn't be any problem. They would come in blind boxes, so they can do a small amount of all of them and just mix the boxes before sending them to the stores.
 
Wow, this is crazy. Some of these figures are gonna be as rare as rocking horse shit. I've been trying to get a villager Amiibo for my 7 year old son but it's nowhere. Nowhere!

From what I read in an interview (can't find the link), they are planning on making less expansive Amiibos (I'm guessing smaller figures). If that's the case, I would probably like your idea, even though collecting them all would be impossible.

Could be fun.
 
I'm not too worried about lucario. As others have said TRU usually goes quite overboard with their exclusives. Just walk into one and check out all the crystal Disney infinity figures and legendary skylanders.

I can't draw a line if I don't know how far the road goes. If Nintendo releases a wave with every Fire Emblem lord I'll just have to declare myself bankrupt.

Blind bag AC Amiibos... If that isn't going to print money then I don't know what is.
If they can implement it well, the town would get huge.. Unless there is a limit but then people would get upset they can't have all their purchased Amiibo villagers in the game. But it's an awesome concept anyway. Well, awesome for Nintendo, not for our wallets.
 
LOL Toys R Us is not helping the situation at all. They have Buy 1 Get 1 40% off and free shipping on the preorders limit 5 per customer. Any opportunistic jerk is going to do just that and sell em for $50 each.

Anyways it looks like Nintendo is making serious bank off of this. Good for them.
 
So I just preordered metaknight, and it says he releases between 12-15 and 12-31. Is this correct or just a placeholder date?

Aren't the only games supported right now Smash, Hyrule Warriors and Mario Kart? If that's right then, yes, it's the only one that gives an exclusive gameplay element outside of Smash.

I also get the feeling Splatoon will be compatible with amiibo and they will be used to unlock Nintendo character costumes (like in MK8).

They really should do that. Support for inklings based on Mario, Link, Samus and other characters likely would help promoting the game itself.
 
...just got an email from EE cancelling Villager saying that it was discontinued and they weren't getting any more.

Back to hoping they get shipments of all of them on Sunday.

Edit: And there's an email for Marth too...

Was stunned to see a Marth amiibo in the wild today. Needless to say, I bought that. Now debating whether to keep it in box or break it out.

(My collection in order of purchase: Samus, Link, Mario, DK, Pikachu, Yoshi, Star Fox, Marth.)
