MGSV: Ground Zeroes PC version live playthrough on upcoming Kojima Station

This game comes out on the day Steam winter sales begin, so it's pretty obvious that the game will be a featured daily deal.

Do you have any source for this, beyond saying that it's "pretty obvious?"

Not trying to be confrontational so much as I have a limited budget (which I have already mostly spent on gifts for family), yet would also like to be able buy and play this game...

I think it'll have 10% off, but I don't think the sales are the reason there's no pre-order.

Well, MGR had the same thing going on last year.

I'll admit, you're probably right... I just hate having to wait until a sale day to discover the pricing information of a title. A pretty awful practice, if you ask me.

I'll still buy it day one.

I hate that too but, eh, if it means we'll be able to get it with a sweet price(maybe 15$) then it's worth it.

I suppose it could be the sales because if people pre-order now, then it goes on sale, they will be a bit bummed. But they could just put it on for pre-order at 10% off (or whatever) and everyone wins. The main thing is going to be pre-loading the game. It'll undoubtedly be popular so their servers will be seeing a lot of traffic.

Just noticed, it seems kinda strange that you can't just right click and select the language you want to play.
At least we have the option to play in Japanese.

For you.

Steam sales date have been leaked by various devs and paypal. It starts 18 December. And there is no way that they won't put it as a daily deal.

I'd bet 20% off actually. And I do think that it is the reason there's no preorder, because imagine the shitstorm if preorders started before and then the game got a discount on the day it released?

It sounds like there's no full mouse functionality in menus?

What the fuck? For a moment there, I thought this was actually going to be a good PC port.
I used to think like that, but honestly, especially after playing VC, it's really just not important if the keyboard menu navigation is done well.

Is the pc version being developed by KPLA or KP? It might be interesting to see if it's the first game made by the american team.

Is there anywhere to watch this in English/with English captions? The Youtube video is in Japanese and there's no captions button (unless I missed it, I didn't see it though).

"There is no borderless windowed mode"

So it won't have the benefits Durante listed? How does Fullscreen borderless differ?

Semantically, people are talking about the same thing.

Full screen border less is the game running in a border less window that is sized to fill your entire screen.

So people are getting what they want!

Home for the holidays and my brother has PC which can probably run this game @ 8K 60fps.

I will be buying it at launch just to experience this.

I thought mods for steam games were straight forward, no? I recall installing black mesa and various other mods over the years without incident or going through steamworks. Is it m ore locked down now?

No, it's not. Developers just have the option of adding Steam Workshop features to their games, which is actually really nice and makes modding less of a hassle.

Even if Ground Zeroes doesn't have Workshop support (which I doubt it will) you'll still be able to install mods the regular way of just copying and pasting stuff over the regular game files, probably.

It depends on the game. Valve and Bethesda games are extremely friendly and open (they generally release SDKs for their games and the communities are massive), but there are plenty of games that don't really get modded, be it lack of interest or difficulty.

Ok, yeah...that makes sense. I thought the implication was that valve walled off mods to be exclusive to steamworks, which struck me as very unlike valve. Thanks for clarifying.

Hopefully kojima recognizes the potential of modding...especially with an open world game like what we see with gta

6 days left, I can't contain it.

Also, Robert keeps making me more anxious.

Oh, he also posted more on the forums.

I know it isn't the ideal solution, but the fact we can still get access to the Japanese voice acting is brilliant. Also that Bokeh DOF makes the game look very different. Hard to tell with a low quality video how well it is implemented, but it's fantastic that they took the effort to put it in there

Sorry if it's been mentioned already but do we know how big the download will be? That tends to make or break my purchasing decisions these days since my net is so shit.

seems like I have to start using bordless windowed mode.

this has to be an in-game option?

but what is the different between borderless windowed ad borderless fullscreen?

An in-game option is preferable, though borderless windowed modes have been added to games that don't natively support them through third party tools like GeDoSaTo.

I'm not absolutely certain, but I think the difference between the two is that a borderless window can be any size on your desktop and can be treated like any regular window (resizing and moving). Borderless fullscreen means that the window is always your native desktop resolution and cannot change size.

Instant Alt-tabbing, automatic low-latency triple buffered V-sync, no issues getting games to work with custom resolutions/frequencies.

I use it for basically every game.

Could you please explain the difference between V-sync double buffering and triple buffering? And what is the advantage using this in borderless windowed mode, because right now I'm just using V-sync in Fullscreen mode and I have no tearing at all. So I can't really see how it can get any better.

Plain old vsync is great if you can hit 60 FPS with no drops at all. It starts to be a problem when you drop below 60. With regular vsync, any drops below 60 (on a 60Hz monitor) will instantly put you to 30 FPS. There is no gradual stepdown. Triple buffering allows you to run without tearing at 45 FPS, 52 FPS, whatever, at the cost of some minor input latency.

Please note that some games automatically enable triple buffering once you turn on vsync even if they don't display the option. Serious Sam 3 does this.

A perfect solution to the tearing and input latency problem is G-SYNC. Man, I want a G-SYNC monitor. Someday!

So conflicted on waiting for the PC version or getting the PS4 version off Amazon for $10 lol

Support the PC version so that KojiPro give us Silent Hill.

Holy shit. First time I understand what tripe buffering actually does.

After the FFXIII thing, I was worried about the JP voices being locked to Asia (before they decided to give dual audio), I'm really happy that's not the case.

I'm so dang excited :D
