Today's dumbest thread: I bought a Wii U yesterday, kinda regreting it

It just doesn't seem like the console is for you. I'm not the biggest fan either, but opted to keep it for Zelda U.
Listen bro, pay the games. Those games will last you for a good month at least I'd bet, and there's plenty more to get. And as for Zelda being the only thing next year, not really. There's Zelda, Splatoon (GONY material IMO), Xenoblade Chronicles X (I don't care for it but it seems most "hardcore gamers" do), Kirby: Canvas Curse, Yoshi's Wooly World, and probably more to be announced. Keep it, have fun with it. You won't regret it.

I'd fucking regret my Wii U purchase too if I never played any of the games, but last I checked that's what you do with game consoles; play games on them.

Sell it mate, if the menus are such a concern not sure the console is for you.
You have a list of great games, saying that its going to collect dust after you put in some serious hours to complete it.
Baffling, sell the thing, honestly I think you should save that money and get something that can match the speed of the playstation 4 menus.

Never heard of anyone returning a system because of a menu before lol. You didn't buy it to look at the menu. You bought it to play games. You know, those things you have.

If you aren't enjoying it even though you have some of the best games on the platform then it might not be fore you.
Yeah the menu is slow and the OS level features aren't good compared to any other console but it has the eShop that works, Miiverse that works and can play games that work and it's fine for that stuff. Just use it as a game thing and spend as little time in the OS level stuff as possible and always quick launch when you can.
I was going to try and make an admittedly bad comparision to buying a PS4 and some of the best games on that and regretting it but I can't think of a number of PS4 exclusive titles that rank up there with the Wii Us.

There are lots of video games in places where people don't have to slog through poor interfaces.
If you want to actual play the games (5 really great games), keep it. If you don't want to play the games, return it.

Almost bought one yesterday myself. Decided to hold off considering the Wii U is on its last legs and will probably have just as good, if not better, bundles next year. Plus I have a back catalog that will keep me going for a decade or more. I really want to play Bayonetta 2 and Kirby when it comes out though, so I might change my mind by the end of the week.

Opening & trying the games is the best way to find out if the system will be worth holding on to-- but doing so drastically depreciates ye value of what you own, so you'd likely be taking a HUGE loss if your intuition is right and you don't wind up liking the system.
My advice? See what your return options are, if any. Get your money back, do more research, and maybe give it another shot this time next year.

Frankly enough, after I bought quite a lot of digital games (all in the system memory), the browser started to slow things down a little with three to four tabs opened.

Zelda, a Starfox game we have seen nothing on, Yoshi and Kirby. So potentially four games total for 2015?

With quickstart you can play all of your Wii U games without touching the main interface, so...

This sounds very fishy, simply because the WiiU menu isn't that slow anymore and the PS4 menu certainly isn't that fast. You can certainly get into a game quicker using the quickstart menu on the WiiU that's for sure.

Smash Bros and Mario Kart 8 really aren't "play to completion and move on" kinds of games. They both have great online components, are primed for

The thing with Nintendo consoles for me is that the games are more timeless. I return to and replay Nintendo titles way more often than your usual console games. So this is obviously my opinion and not scientific fact, but I definitely think every gamer has room in their life for a Wii U and Nintendo's incredible portfolio of games.
Last legs? Have you seen the lineup of games for 2015? This is the golden era for the Wii U. Never a better time to jump in.
You have to "slog" through the Wii U OS to play a game? Last time I checked, you boot up the console (insert a disc) and hit the game icon in the quickstart menu. What's this slogging through "poor interfaces"?

It has a quick start menu so you can start the game as soon as you turn the console on.
It is actually the fastest console to boot up and play games on.

I usually turn the Wii U on first and hit the game icon i want from the quick start on the game pad. By the time I've turned on the TV and my receiver, selected the right inputs, and am sitting down on the couch, whatever I want to play is probably already loaded and waiting at the start screen.
Until Sony gets suspend/resume working on the PS4 the Wii U is going to be hands down the fastest starting non-handheld gaming device in my house.

This thread doesn't even reach that level. OP isn't complaining about games they haven't played, they are complaining about the console they were released on without even having opened the games.
Seriously, how can you give up on a console without even playing a game?
Think about it for a moment. This is a whole level beyond the satire found in Super Paper Mario. You don't see this everyday.
The browser is using the 2GB system memory and not the internal storage. If what you said is right, what will happen if you fill up all the internal storage? The browser can't be used?
For some people the game experience entails more than just booting it up once. It's easy to imagine that someone would regret purchasing a console if they feel its underworkings are inadequately structured in a way that limits or complicates their experience.

I always like to make this argument but in the end you will make just about any concession if you love a game enough.
My PS4 will fire right up for Bloodborne and all reluctantly plop money on a new 3DS to play MH4

Same thing happened to me about 4 months ago. Hated the interface and controller. I got the refurbished model from Nintendo and couldn't return it so I traded it in. The way I see it is you can spend $400+ for 3 or 4 games you might want or put it towards the console(s) you own and buy games for that. It's not like I don't already have a backlog between PS3, PS4, and PC. Couldn't justify a Wii U in it's current state.

But, if your just jumping in, there's a lot to catch up on that will last for a good long while.
Hell, you don't even need quickstart, what's so hard and slow about touching a game icon?

Don't bother keeping the console if you're not in for the long haul.
If you're not happy and you don't have any Wii Games/VC games you wish to play, don't keep it.
I'm content with my Wii U, but I also have my sights on the horizon for a PS4.

That happened to me with the Wii, i returned it 2 hours after ii realized the shit i'd have done.
I bought it 2 years later, the games were cheaper and i bought a 2nd hand Wii for 50.
It was the best thing i could've done.
I still have it and i still play it.
