This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

What is the easiest way to use standard headphones on a PlayStation TV for audio output? I remember seeing a piece of hardware that allowed pass-through (?) somewhere. One end had HDMI, the other end had audio and HDMI.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Never mind found it, it's called an "Audio Extractor."

Hello, I own a Japanese PS3 and I'm used to the O=Confirm and X=Cancel layout.

I saw some games on the NA PSN store that were a lot cheaper than the JP one and when I bought it, the game turned out to be X=Confirm and O=Cancel.

It's not a big issue but I am really used to the original layout and switching to NA is a pain.

I do not think it happens with my NA Disc games I bought either like LA Noire.

It doesn't happen with Dragon's Dogma but it happens with a couple other NA PSN games. Does anyone know why?

Will we ever get past clipping in cut scenes? 20 years later it;s still an issue. It's impossible for me to take the drama of these scenes seriously when my character has a sword hilt passing through her facehead.

Does the PC version of Dark Souls / Dark Souls 2 allow for assigning buttons to a controller? I really hate shoulder buttons for attack/defense like it was in Demon's Souls.

Are PS4 game saves region free?

For example, I have a US PSN account and I borrow a Driveclub PAL version from a friend. I I play the game, make some progress and create a game save under my US PSN account. No problems.
But what if I return the PAL version to my friend and buy a digital (or physical) US version of the same game. I want to play it under the same US PSN account I used to play the PAL version. Will the US version let me load the PAL game save and continue the progress I made in the PAL version?

Ok, i've got a stupid question for you people. So i'm just thinking that once Nintendo drops another promo for Wii U games (well i hope one will drop eventually) where you are required to register your console and a game (like with Mario Kart) how do you do it without a pin card for your console, because i got none for it. I'm in the EU, console linked to the nnid, no promo before. I hope someone will understand my rambling :P

Hey all.

Is there a list anywhere of compatible voltages for consoles? I know some I've brought back from Japan won't work without a step-up convertor, but some, like the GameCube, work just fine if you switch to the UK cables.

Ta!

Okay, so I theoretically have my Sennheiser HD 598s and an aux cord that acts as a mic. What do I need/need to do to set these up to my PS3?

I think it may be a case by case scenario. Infamous second son uses different save regions, I believe. Not sure about Driveclub.

I hope someone responds to this:

Isn't it fucking idiotic that this product
http://m.gamestop.com/Catalog/Product/98478
does not come with the cable necessary for it to function?

I mean, seriously, what the hell?!

My Vita's USB cable broke, and no where near me still sells them. Of course, I can order it online, but I don't want to pay $15 for a cable or wait weeks for it to ship.

That's pretty awful actually.

What PSVita model do you have? Original [1000 series] or Slim [2000 series]?

This might be a good alternative for an original

1000 white

Thanks for the link! That's actually a great price. I might go this route if I cant find a usb at a mom and pop video game store tomorrow. I'm dying without my vita ;(

If instead all you want is a usb replacement cable for an original, this is probably the cheapest to be had online

http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=114&cp_id=11405&cs_id=1140501&p_id=9273&seq=1&format=2

Monoprice cables are also good quality for the price. Offers free domestic standard shipping as well

lol if you hurry the DEC10 promo code still works and you can save a whole 13 more cents on the cable :D

wow thanks for posting that. there was a hdmi optical hub I had my eye but was waiting for a sale on and managed to save about 3-4 dollars off of it thanks to the code. you the man!

Has there been any game other than Mass Effect 2 and 3 to access previous saves to define the storyline/missions/dialogue with which you're presented?

Yes, definitely.
Ones that come to mind (however there are probably many more) are The Witcher 1--> The Witcher 2, Telltale's The Walking Dead Season 1--> Season 2, and Dragon Age: Origins ---> Dragon Age 2. Also, there's Mass Effect 1 of course lol.

What's the deal with the emulation community being seemingly slow?

It seems like the 3DS, 360 and PS3 are nowhere near even the beginning stages of emulation compared to previous generations.

It's as important as it's ever been to preserve some of these games now as the ever faster approaching digital future means that when servers are eventually shut down these games are GONE.

My guess is that most devs migrated to mobile where they can charge money for the emulators (not sure if there's paid homebrew on hacked consoles but I don't think it's a common practice anyway). Android emulators in particular are pretty popular since they are allowed in Google's store and don't require any kind of root/jailbreak/exploit.

Just to add to that I think Dreamcast Shenmue 2 allowed that as well. I'm sure there are plenty more.

Edit ok that wasn't dialogue choices I don't think. Reading comprehension fail.

Can someone tell me, what is this from?

Can anyone clarify whether a German Vita Mega Pack code will work with a UK account? I've just taken advantage of the insane Amazon.DE 99 Euro offer and I've heard mixed messages from "its fine" to "you need to make a German account which is a lot of hassle, so you'd be better off selling the code".

It's going to be my Christmas present, so I'd like to be sure I can actually play the games.

This doesn't deserve its own thread, so I'll ask it here. I've asked a couple of other times but haven't received a response, but I'm still curious.

- How much would be fair to ask for a lightly used aqua blue (or teal) original 3DS from launchtime? I'd likely format it and get rid of the Ambassador games. $80 CAD or $100 CAD? I think they still sell for $169.99 CAD.

Thinking about selling it around Christmas to someone looking for one for a kid, so that I can get money to put towards a New 3DS XL.

I really like the first game, Mirror of Fate is good as well, it's pretty much Lords of Shadow on a 2D plane with more exploration.

However, the framerate in the console versions is awful, it can barely keep it at 30 with constant dips to 12-15 FPS.

So if your PC is at all capable of gaming, I'd recommend the PC version over any of the two console versions. For reference my Core2Duo E8500 /Radeon HD5870 combo can run the first game at what's pretty much a locked 60 at 1080p. It's kind of crazy how well optimized the PC port is.

I don't have the most updated/optimized PC, but on top of that, Amazon in selling the PS360 version. I guess I'll have to check out the performance before I really decide. I can usually tolerate framedrops, but if it's too frequent then I could probably wait.

What's a good gaming router that requires little to no configuration to get multiple next gen systems to work well?

It's for a friend and I haven't bought a new router in years. Apparently they're a lot more expensive now.

From my research so far I will recommend him the Netgear ac1600 r6250 because from the reviews it seems pretty much plug and play with my multiple Xbox ones on the same network.

Is it true that Shigeru Miyamoto has a twitter account but it's a super secret account that only his close friends have it?? It'll be awesome he can have a personal twitter or something so he can share selfies on his office while working idk.

If I get a Wii U Pro controller am I able to navigate the OS UI with it? Or do I have to use the gamepad? I ask this because with the Wii you still had to use the Wiimote for anything no in game. I'd like to just put the gamepad away in a drawer as I have no real intest in screen or games that require it.

In last week's Bombcast, I think it was Jeff that mentioned that at last E3, both Sony and Microsoft were fighting over who got a game at their press conference. It came down to the last hour and the ones that didn't get it felt slighted.

Anyone know what game they were talking about?

You can turn on the Wii U, select menu items, switch the menu with the wara wara plaza to show on tv with the pro controller. But I think it will also automatically turn on your wii u game pad as well when the system is turned on. You can go into settings and turn the game pad screen off but the pad will still be "on".
I just leave it on the charger at that point.

Need a game recommendation! Looking for a good aerial combat game that supports split screen dogfighting. Can be on any current / last gen system or Steam.

Would someone explain to me why Grim Fandango is so loved? I've never played it and plan on getting it for PS4 but I know almost nothing about it. I don't even know what kind of game it is, point and click I assume?

The Vita usb charger works with these little guys, right?
CBjrrWN.jpg

Well, you wouldn't use the charger with this (not sure if that's what you meant), just plug in the USB cable. I don't see why it wouldn't work, I just charge my Vita using some random USB wall charger, haven't had any problems. I've also charged it from my laptop, only some laptop USB ports don't provide enough power.
