OK - question about buying from the US PSN in the UK for PS4

Looking to do this for the first time as I need Guilty Gear. I've googled it but all the guides of setting up a US account / buying cards from Amazon et al are all months out of date.

Can someone just give me a quick verification of the basic steps again and that they haven't changed? Stupid gaming question it maybe but a confirm would be great before I go ahead and put money down.

Hi guys, another stupid question. I've bought Pokemon OR and i've seen that you can register the game and receive a free other game. I did see that the console must be previously unregistered. What does that mean? I did take part in the first promo for a free game (input three codes and get a game free when New Leaf came out in the EU), can i take part in another, or not?

I don't think so, no, not if you registered an NNID to your console previously. You can ask Nintendo EU customer service to double-check, but probably if they require the console to be previously unregistered, that would mean you don't have an NNID set up on it. If you do, and if it's linked to CN, you probably can't take part in this promo.

Great, last question. If my friend can participate, can you gift someone the code that Nintendo sends to you?

I think you might be able to; I want to say with some similar promos here in NA like for free X/Y in March I think you might've been able to. I was trying to do this at the time but the code a GAFer traded me didn't end up being valid so I didn't get to find out.

I need a cheap, kid friendly PS3 kids game for my 3 year old nephew and 5 year old niece. I was leaning towards Little Big Planet Karting, but there is a good chance I wont be able to find it before Christmas. (I don't think ModNation is quite kid friendly enough since the 3 yr old can't quite hold the controller right). My sister already owns LBP1 and LBP2.
Any suggestions?

Oh, I heard 3D Dot Games Heroes is a good one. Here's the ESRB page:

What's the name of the song in bayonetta 1 that is the battle theme that followed right after an introduction of a new enemy?

Fake question: how is it possible for the bayo2 theme to beat the bayo1 theme!? Music so good.

Is there any easy way to download region locked Android games? I've tried a few sites and chrome extension that supposedly do the trick but they don't work for me.
Or some alternative marketplace or something

I'm not asking for pirated or modded games. I want F2P region locked games like Puzzles&Dragons or Terra Battle.

Non-PS4 owner here, but I am wondering how PS4 remote play with a second screen works (Vita or phone) for physical media. Is this feature primarily geared towards people who go all digital with their game purchases, or if you own and have installed a physical disc can you also use this feature even if the disc of a certain game isn't in at home on your PS4?

If you cancel a PS+ subscription, do you permanently lose your cache of free games? Or do they all switch back on (assuming you've downloaded them) when you re-sub?

You have to have the disc in. Think of it as just accessing what your PS4 does almost exactly via your Vita. You can't play installed disc games without the disc in on the actual console, so you can't do it remotely.

They're yours for as long as you subscribe, when you unsubscribe you can't use them, when you resubscribe you can.

EDIT:
Not actually sure what would happen with something like Marvel vs Capcom, Afterburner Climax, etc if they had been Plus games.

Possible stupid question incoming, then again.. that's the point of this thread.

So, I'm not interested in that many Wii U games at the moment, (only one I'm really interested in is the upcoming Xenoblade) but I'm not willing to buy a console to just play one game.

But I've heard that a Wii U can play Wii games?
Never had a Wii so I've missed a bunch of great games.

Just wondering how Wii games work on Wii U (are they all compatible?, do they run well?, etc.) and if its worth getting a Wii U to play mostly Wii games instead of just buying a cheap Wii.

I'm wondering about things that aren't gonna be on the FREE-PS+GAMES section. Specifically, Guilty Gear Xrd is coming out with exclusive PS+ colors for free for PSN+ users on their own terms and I was wondering if addon content could be kept without a subscription. I was planning on using my Trial for it.

The Wii U has a Wii menu in which it is basically a Wii, you can play all WIi games and access the Wii store. You'll need a Wii remote though. The advantage of getting a Wii U is that it has HDMI out. On the other hand, if you are not at all interested in Wii U games, you could get a Wii for backwards compatibility with the Gamecube if you are more interested in those.

Does anyone know how to fix error code 80710736 on the PS3? Do I need to just reset my internet settings?

I did an internet test on the thing and everything worked (except UPnP, if that matters).

Anyone knows when The Vanishing of Ethan Carter releases on PS4?

Hadn't really been paying attention to this game until a bunch of Gamespot editors chose it as one of their top 5 GOTY games. It was then that i saw how amazing this game looks and all the cool ideas about how you interact with your sorroundings and solve each mystery.

I believe it was maybe at the Playstation Experience where they announce this games was coming to PS4? Or was it at another event? Anyway, can't wait to play it.

Ah, thanks! I still have my Gamecube so don't really need a Wii for that.
The HDMI out is something I definitely need though, so Wii U it is.

I'm thinking about getting a Wii U today or tomorrow. I've always heard about region restriction complaints from people, so I would like to know if I buy a console here in Canada can I play Mario kart, smash and other games online with my friends in Europe and other parts of the world or is online play restricted to only my region?

I'm sure there is an easy answer for this, but my google-fu is weak, so I'll ask here.

I rented (still a thing where I live) Tomb Raider Definitive Edition for PS4, and it installed all the game data. If click 'Buy' in the Overview menu, will that require me to download the game, or will it use the data already installed from the disc? I have a minuscule amount of data I can use each month, so it would help me out hugely if this was possible.

I'm almost certain it uses the same install data.

Is there any way to organize the PS4 menu?

I have some PS+ downloads, but I'm not an active subscriber. Would be nice to throw those in a folder somewhere instead of deleting. I'd also love to be rid of all the extraneous apps on the main menu.

Also, invest in a Wii IR sensor. The Wii U IR sensor does not work with Wiimotes once you access the Wii OS. And keep in mind that leaderboards and whatever uses Nintendo's WiFi network are not functioning anymore.

Does the PS4 and WiiU still support component cables? I use a HDMI to DVI plus a set of PC speakers for my PS3 but I'm under the impression that the PS4 only supports HDMI for audio and am getting confusing results for the WiiU.

Wait. You mean the Wii sendor can be hooked up to the Wii U and used for both Wii and Wii U modes, but the Wii U sensor will only work for Wii U and not Wii? Or are you saying that one would have to swap sensors to go between modes?

And if the Wii U sensor does not work in Wii mode, then how did they expect non-Wii owners to use Wii mode in the first place? Because I thought you had to use the remote to navigate the OS.

I just bought a Wii U, but haven't had a chance to set it up yet and this is the first time I've heard this. Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure what you mean by that, but I have the sensor that came with the Wii U hooked up to it, and I can use the Wii remote just fine when in the Wii menu. I also played Metroid Prime that way no problem.

This is false.

Yes.

I think MonHun might be restricted by region but I'm not 100% sure. I've never heard of any other game being restricted in that manner.

I have a very stupid one: my cables, power and HDMI, are a gigantic mess behind my television. Can this lead to any kind of degradation for the cables? I'm aware performance won't be affected, but can the fact that they're being pressed into each other or against the wall affect their durability?

Again, don't laugh please.

Is it possible to set a game to install on Xbox One while the console is off? Like if I wanted to install a game and had to go out or go to sleep and didn't want to leave it on the whole time

Stupid Question:

Just got a new TV [yay!] but is the a site that I can use that would help guide me on what settings will be best for gaming and proper color?

Since Gamecube controllers can now be plugged into a USB drive thanks to the Wii U adapter, would it be possible in theory to use my Gamecube controllers on my PC? What would it take for that to happen?

As long as you log into Origin once while online and run The Sims 4 to activate it on your laptop, you will be able to log into Origin in Offline Mode anytime after that to play without a network connection.

What happens if I download a game from Origin, connect to the Internet once to activate it on my laptop
and then copy the game via USB to my gaming PC which isn't connected to the internet?

Do I have to verify my game license again on my PC by connecting to the EA Servers a second time?

The post you quoted is either completely false, or I'm just not understanding it. The sensor bar that comes with the Wii U works in both Wii and Wii U mode. There is also a sensor strip built into the Gamepad itself, and that also works in both Wii and Wii U mode. The sensor bar hardware should be more or less identical to that which shipped with Wii consoles, so they are interchangeable.

The word "sensor" is really a misnomer in this case, because the actual sensors are in the Wiimote itself and not the bar. The bar is essentially just a pair of infra-red lights that the Wiimote uses for 2D positional tracking when you point it at the screen. The console gets all the information it needs from the Wiimote through Bluetooth. The cable that connects the sensor bar to the console just supplies power to the bar. You could even roll your own sensor bar by e.g. placing two lit candles in front of the TV.

FYI For anyone else who might be in the same position as I, no this does not work. Bought Tomb Raider off the PS Store today, and I need to delete the disc install and install the whole game from scratch via download, which is a bit backwards.
