Nintendo, I just don't understand why you are marketing your hardware by showing some of the solid software available for it. This travesty shall not stand!
You're absolutely right. I'm more thinking about the mainstream gamer and the strapped for time gamer (such as myself) who don't really benefit for owning everything under the sun. I keep saying I'll catch up on my backlog when I go on long service leave for 10 weeks but let's face it - between PC, PS4, Vita and 3DS I'll realistically play like 5 games and finish 2 of them and promise myself the next time I have a long break I'll get there. Meanwhile more great games will release and I'll buy those too and they'll sit on the top of the pile until the next release yada yada yadaSure if your trying to play every single game, however most people stick to certain genres or highly rated/recommended games. In addition I'd guess most people do not complete every game either. Certainly a single platform can satisfy your gaming needs, however as every game is not on one platform owning several increases your options and thus your satisfaction.
Again this is totally subjective on tastes and gaming habits so there is not right or wrong answer I'm just offering a counter point to your (valid) counter point for the sake of the discussion.
He/She showed no specific preference towards any other console in his post so I don't really see how he can be called a fanboy of anything.Read the post I quoted if you're confused, seems pretty self explanatory to me.

On a more serious note, there are indeed many great games on Nintendo platforms.
I do. That doesn't mean I have to agree with it. You see the current Sony and Microsoft promoting their games with metacritic scores but do you see them downplay other games in the genre with similar gameplay mechanics?lol do you understand how marketing works?
It's not within Nintendo's interests to evangelize for their rivals. In a competitive industry, downplaying your competition is part of the job.

For you? Sure. They've done it before and they'll surely do it again. One that immediately comes to mind was Sony's Crash Bandicoot ads that poked fun at Mario. Sega used to trash Nintendo all the time in their ads.
This is nothing new and there's absolutely nothing wrong about it.
It is foolish to believe the New 3DS is going to get big releases (outside of ports like Xenoblade).Truth. Only 3DS is legit, BUT, New 3DS is around the corner, so the original is also a pretty bad christmas present.
So instead of attempting explaining to them where they're wrong you just choose to flat out insult them? Cool.At the very least this thread has served to point out members who literally can't fucking read.

Maybe you should just let people be ignorant rather than derailing the thread by insulting people below your level of enlightenment. I don't see what you're adding to the discussion if you won't elaborate on why people are wrong, you're just being a dick.I don't even know how you managed to read my post, as you don't seem to understand the OP. It sucks that we have a lot of people incapable of or not willing to read, but I'm not a charity worker.

I don't have an issue with user scores in general, just with Metacritic user scores. Why dismiss the Userscore?
We literally have someone on this very page who didn´t read the picture in question. So instead of attempting explaining to them where they're wrong you just choose to flat out insult them? Cool.

What's the criteria, because I just counted 20 Vita games with a metacritic score of at least 85.
Over exaggeration much? All I said was I don't agree with Nintendo downplaying others while promoting theirs. I don't agree with "The best place to play" thing either. I'd rather a company promote their system by promoting their games and not ride on the shortcoming of others. We literally have someone on this very page who didn´t read the picture in question.
You´re acting like Nintendo killed your dog, because they chose their own rules to show their own product in the best light.
Were you offended when Sony launched the PS4 with "THE BEST PLACE TO PLAY " commercials ?

Maybe some of us would like Nintendo to compete for the #1 spot again. To do that they're going to have to look at what they're not doing since what they're doing right isn't moving inventory. And using a shitty metric sure isn't doing them any favours when they don't really need to use them to prove the point in the first place. This thread is hilarious.
But but sales...
At least my console got more street cred than yours!1

* Voting without owning the game
* Voting 0 or 10 to "improve" the score
* Voters voting on just one game, account spam
* Low number of votes
etc.
There are ways to reduce the influence of those biases as I posted earlier, but metacritic doesn't even attempt it.

I don't even think it's a marketing problem first and foremost. I think it mostly comes down to third party support. And sure it's a whole chicken and egg scenario there but Nintendo didn't do themselves any favours realising a system so drastically underpowered compared to their competitors. They made it that much easier for third parties to just say "fuck it" when the Wii U got off to a slow start. I don't see things improving if they go the rumoured hybrid route for their next console either. If good or even the best games don't move hardware the problem lies somewhere else. Maybe in the marketing, which this thread is about. At least their revenue is positive again.![]()
Nintendo didn't claim they could cure you of being a fanboy so I'm not sure what your post has to do with the thread.

I certainly hope the hybrid rumour is false it seems like the wrong move to me.1. There is, was and won't be a hybrid. Jesus, this nonsense is harder to kill than anything i know.
2. Was no problem for the Wii. 2 years of condescending press damaged this thing like nothing else.
Its just a recent phenomenon games journalism discovers the games again.
There is no easier clickbait on the internet than anything Nintendoomed.
They got away with it for 2 full years. Now it would just look silly.
I certainly hope the hybrid rumour is false it seems like the wrong move to me.
The Wii...it sold to an audience that has long since moved on, you're not catching that lightning in a bottle again. It also had significant third party support.
Lastly, I think you're massively overstating the effect of the gaming press and the low sales are simply a symptom of the console lacking the big third party franchises. PS3 got heaps of bad press early on in its life and it ended the cycle with respectable sales. Microsoft got heaps of bad press pre Xbone release. I don't think Nintendo is treated any differently than the others to be honest. When there's good news to report it's reported.
Or at least imdb user scoresMetacritic should likely change to rotten tomatoes system for user scores, and just let people up or downvote a game.
But VLR is multiplatform.
I certainly hope the hybrid rumour is false it seems like the wrong move to me.

So is Bayonetta 1 and Rayman Legends. Being an exclusive game isn't a requirement for this particular piece of marketing.
Bayonetta isn't a retail game. It's a bonus throw-in.
The Metacritic benchmark (user scores at that) is here to stay... *sheds a tear*
