I don't suppose anyone has a gif of the scene from Log Horizon where they're talking about hot pants. I feel it's appropriate.

I'm so impressed but the size and scope of this game. Travelling by train, car, foot and other vehicles to explore such a dynamic world has always been a dream of mine to play in a Final Fantasy game. If (and that's a big if) they do it right then it could potentially be one of the best games ever made.

I mean talk about what you want, but... do we really want to do all this again? this thread has a lot of great info lol

I would love to talk about other things, the battle system, the great looking town, how awesome Titan looks, but when I see stuff like that character design and read about how the male staff is really working hard on her it deflates my interest in the game.

This is offensively sexist and it deserves to be called out. The staff should be embarrassed by how awful that character is. If my concern over that issue isn't welcome as a point of discussion then I just won't take part.

Honestly, her design is effing stupid.

Could that be bad translation though? I was under the impression that without camping/resting at hotel, you don't get to use the EXP accumulated to level up.

If this is how it works, that would be cool with me. It's basically how Baten Kaitos did leveling. And like they said you'd be able to challenge yourself through the game at a low level.

I love the idea of the food and sleep buffs and how gloriously huge Titan is, and seeing these cities on a next gen system. I want this game and I want it now. Also Cidney is beautiful.

i mean there was like a huge thread calling it out over like 20-30 pages, and of course your concern is welcome. Again, I want to emphasize that everyone can talk about what they want but I'm just thinking that maybe for this thread which has all this valuable information we can just... maybe... not? The other thread just became a Cindy cleavage topic. I even agree with you guys, seems unnecessary but is every FFXV destined to become about that? I'm just voicing a thought, I have no control nor do I want control... just shooting the shit here.

here is a thread I made specifically to discuss the complicated issue, which was inspired by the Cindy cleavage stuff. If you're curious and really want a nuanced discussion on this subject!

Have fun calling out every single game in existence and in the future then. If you want a seperate discussion about sexism in video games, which is your damn right to have, then please create a thread.

Otherwise please keep this shit out of this thread.

It comes from NovaCrystallis site, so take that as you will.

I personally don't mind. I think forcing the camping mechanic is good. Seems there will be interactions/side-cutscenes of the party just hanging out & talking. It compliments the story & world.

How is the design any different than Winry Rockbell?

3769312-5396230841-winry.jpg

or Roll Caskett

Both are "mechanic" girls that show too much skin for the kind of work they do.

The difference is that Cidney is not cartoony so it stands out more.

Hardly, there are male characters with little clothing on that would fit straight in Magic Mike as well, both sides have it this time around.

Can't wait can't wait! I honestly haven't played a Final Fantasy game since FF VII on PS1 but this game will definitely make me return to the series and I'll be there on day one <3

Snow in general would be great... just as long as it's not voiced by Troy Baker.

Imagine timing the trip just right. Break through a snowy mountain cloud bank just in time to see the sun setting over the land below.

I also just want another Icicle Inn type village & a new song to add to the occasional "Favorite Wintery Song" thread. ;)

Its still a pretty boring and overused design, but I kinda dig the character after watching that video. It seems like she will be a character who will improve your car? I expect she will run a store where you can take it to make it faster, change colors and some other customization. At least that would be cool.

I don't really mind her design that much (although it is a bit silly), but I cringed pretty hard at the line about the male staff working hard on her. Like.. really? Did they really need to say that? Now I'm just imagining some of the male staff at SE really perving out while working on her cutscenes.

Looking amazing, can't wait, Cindy/Cidney looks awesome too!

Full ATR translation: (Credit to RhadamantisZERO from GFAQs)

Tabata: Well, the name of the town is Resukarunu, and it's actually fairly close to the area in the demo.
Tabata's Active Time Report for Jump Festa 2015 in HD:

The town shown is called “Lestarg” and it plays an important role in the story surrounding Titan

Information from the stream: http://www.siliconera.com/2014/12/20/final-fantasy-xv-tons-details-jump-festa/#disqus_thread

Lestallum.

You can see on the city signs. Tabata even spells it out Re-su-ta-ru-mu because he knows people will be confused with this silly name.

Game looks really nice and intriguing, I'll give it that.

However, can voice over possibly feel even more completely disconnected with what's on screen than it was here? It didn't seem like any of those voices were coming from those characters. The tones of voice were not matching the emotions on their faces or their actions at all.

Hey, at least she's showing less skin than Rikku. *shrug*
Besides, I don't see how it's that different from Fran's design and
Bayonetta's
.

Anyway, I'm loving what I'm reading about this game. Everything seems so...right. I can't wait for the demo. :D

I am not impressed. Hopefully it plays better than it looks.

What exactly didn't impress you about what's been shown?

Proper lip syncing will remedy a lot of that, but Noctis had a range of emotion that was pretty weird. Didn't think he was like that at all.

is beloved, despite what anyone might say
my god this game sounds insane, just insane

Pleaaaaaaaase nail the battle system!

This, this this... I prefer the traditional menu-driven RPG battle systems, so I've always been a bit hesitant when I heard this game was having an action battle system (when it was announced as Versus back in the day)... everything else - the road trip content, the world design, the exploration - looks exactly what I want out of an RPG... but just please please nail the battle system and character progression systems.

This game sounds so awesome.

I cannot wait for this OST. I mean, god damn. Also can't wait to summon TItan vs. that Adamantoise in the re-reveal trailer. :D

This game looks amazing, and I am loving the character design of the mechanic. Hopefully the vocal majority is louder than the minority of people complaining about it so that they don't ruin it into a "i'm offended serve my needs" parade.

Ah here it is from the Kotaku transcript:
Tabata: By resting, those experience points get converted to levels. So camping is actually very important, which is why I said what I did – although I don't remember if I used the term "debuff" or not.

Host: I see. So, you gain levels by sleeping, which means if you don't sleep, your levels don't increase. So, this is an action RPG, so if players wanted to try to a low-level playthrough, all they have to do is not sleep.

Tabata: Yes. Players who don't want to increase their levels should avoid sleeping.

It's tied to leveling.

My men/women! Snow/Winter themes have always been my most favorite in games :)

best wintery song is Earthbound's - Winters

Final Fantasy and video games in general... and movies, television... pretty much every form of entertainment has always and will always have sexualized characters. It's okay to not endorse that and voice opinions, but it's entirely futile.

I think she looks great, but I'm more personally concerned about no playable female characters. The main group looks very stale to me and is in dire need of vibrant characters, male or female. FF has always had strong and likeable female characters like Terra, Celes, Aeris, etc. and I think it'd be a shame if this game lacked one.

Not necessarily a deal breaker, but disappointing to me personally nonetheless.

he also said you see negative effects if you don't sleep. So if you choose to d oa low level run and there are other negative effects, will there be no way to sleep and not level? Because I'm assuming there are other negative effects to not sleeping than just not leveling up (I'm think he mentioned something about food losing its effect).
