God damn the past two days have been terrible. Mom is in the hospital with a terrible infection. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared out my mind.
What traditional fighting game value does Smash 4 not possess?

No block string pressure, weak okizeme (due to movement), and weak footsies (due to movement).
Funny, since a lot of the talk I've been seeing is that Smash 4 reminds people a lot like SF4 due to how important footsies and the neutral game is.
Revised: Those Melee guys are elitist because they get very emotional over any discussion of Smash games relative to Melee.I love it when people that take offense to implied generalizations... generalize their offenders.
"Those Melee guys are elitist because they say the Smash game we play is poop."
Dumb.
There's little argument that Brawl/Smash WiiU are crappy competitive fighting games in relation to more traditional fighters or Melee. It's not because they house no competitive value, period, it's merely because their design doesn't accommodate traditional competitive fighting game values. When people criticize or call those games crap, they're not calling the community crap by extension and you'd be hard-pressed to find examples of anyone doing that, I'm sure.
Crap game is crap. Everyone's great. That 'elitism" crap is a perspective conjured from butt-hurt. There's assholes everywhere, your hurt-bum included. The more tenable generalization is that the Melee community isn't any more or less elitist than any other older community in the FGC.

I think the first point is undebatable. Smash 4 has no capacity at all for blockstring pressure. No block string pressure, weak okizeme (due to movement), and weak footsies (due to movement).
I think it has a lot in common with Street Fighter, but Melee fans want it to be more like Marvel or GG. In other words, Smash 4 and SF both give a lot of strong defensive options, to the point where not attacking and standing your ground is often a strong tactic. Marvel and GG always reward strong offensive play, so there is never a time you want to go full defensive (timer scam exempted).Funny, since a lot of the talk I've been seeing is that Smash 4 reminds people a lot like SF4 due to how important footsies and the neutral game is.

Your moms has my keyboard. I'm sure everything will turn out fine.
Man in the past 2 weeks I have seen 5 abels get perfected. Why do they get blown up so spectacularly?
Bowser can actually link his up throw into fair or uair as a true combo at low percentages.I don't know Smash 4's dominant tactics, Kars. What does Bowser do if he grabs you at low percentages in your scenario, at, say, the center of the stage?
Dahbomb: I don't think 3D fighters were always like that. I remember T4 and SC1/2 having some really dirty frame traps utilizing moves that were like +13 on block for crissakes. It wasn't until T5/SC3 and the whole pussification of video games movement started that I remember 3D fighters having shitty block string pressure.
nope. game sux problem
Nope. Removed since BrawlCan you not go back to neutral by canceling a run (not dash) with a crouch?![]()
They took out DACUS in the latest patch/Wii U version.DACUS
Tekken 4 was a terrible competitive fighting game PRECISELY because the frame traps/block strings were so absurd. Along with a bunch of other stuff as well. I can't comment much on SC1/SC2, I only followed them at a casual level.Dahbomb: I don't think 3D fighters were always like that. Changing the entire interface couldn't hurt. Shit is ancient. Of course we are talking about the same people that can't be assed to update the character's looks either.
Thank you guys for your get well messages. It means a lot.
He has returned.

Peaked with Superstar tbh
I agree with you but Capcom is not exempt from this either. Every SF4 character hasn't changed at ALL from their original designs. At least Namco did so from Tekken 1 through Tekken 5. Ryu and Chun Li are still the damn same for SF5... no evolution of the character at all.
Netherrealms are the best sudio right now for this. They keep their character designs fresh for every game they release. And considering how generic the ninja attire is, it's a mighty accomplishment.

I would like to see a Smash where shielding is a lot stronger (remove shield weakening just from using it)
It had some neat ideas, though. That's already like several notches up from your average Kirby game.Canvas Curse wasn't fun, sorry.
I wouldn't say CC is bad, but I was no fan.It had some neat ideas, though. That's already like several notches up from your average Kirby game.
Netherrealm also has the worst character modeling/designs sooooooooo......
jazz-ism is on stream at jiyuna's apartment
Best of luck for your mom Smurfx.God damn the past two days have been terrible. Mom is in the hospital with a terrible infection. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared out my mind.
