Hopefully next on the hire list is a website designer.
I've actually enjoyed reading Kotaku's stuff recently, but I hate going to the site. it's so ugly it should be illegal
Dat Totilo.
Hope this works out well for him. Maybe they'll give him a pay bump and he can bankroll a new Evil Bong.
As much as I'll miss having him on Giant Bomb streams and podcasts, this seems like a good move for both him and Kotaku.
Looking forward to seeing who GB hires to fill the void. Assuming they're hiring in New York, it'll be nice to have someone to rotate into the Vinny/Alex pairing just for variety's sake.
Kotaku over Giantbomb?
Pshh....
Destructoid is just a shell of it's former self by now. So many great people already left it. Feel kinda bad for the remaining bunch. He announced on his Tumblr on New Years that he's leaving Destructoid, so who knows what his next moves are~
I don't. Klepek said that he's been technically off of GB for a few months and that he only announced it on the podcast Monday?
He seemed disappointed when they hired Dan/Jason by the retweets he made...
I haven't seen the retweets but that is a super weird (and unprofessional) thing to do.
He unfavorited these after someone called him out for it.
It's true. lolWell . . . at least it's not Polygon
People in the game journalism business must drool over a job at Giantbomb. Still can't believe he gave that up for Kotaku.
Kotaku has improved itself so much in the last few years and it just keeps on improving. Quite an impressive about face.
Polygon could learn from Kotaku. (Which is funny, because Brian Crecente, the EIC of Polygon, was the EIC of Kotaku before Totilo)
Nice.
Totilo, Klepek, Schreier, Plunkett & Hernandez is a pretty solid core of writers.
Kotaku is becoming god-tier. Hernandez gets way too much hate and it's depressing because she's one of the best writers there is at Kotaku.
But what about all those GamerGate boycotts???
Let's not whitewash her.
To be fair, he tried to stay relevant with stuff like the Interview Dumptruck. But those basically stopped after a while. But people go to GB to hear people talk over games, and I think most solo streams are kind of hard to listen to. Heck, they even stopped those Retro QLs that they did off an on from their bedrooms. It's a perfect win win situation as far as I'm concerned. Quick Look Solos are boring, the morning show was meh, playing horror games with a face cam is some YouTube stuff I absolutely don't care about. I love GB and hardly ever consumes any of Patrick's output. It's like he wasn't even a part of that video centric site anymore. Now he can focus on writing for a bigger site with more access to key figures and that's great.
Let's not whitewash her.
The weird thing about this is that if Klepek knew that he was leaving for somewhere else, why would he care, or if this prompted his move to somewhere else due to the hires.
Well . . . at least it's not Polygon

It's kind of weird how everyone in the last thread (which BTW, we're not returning to the Dan Ryckert rodeo) pointed out how Patrick was obviously in a sticky situation at GB given how he was cut off from the rest of the crew in terms of video content (GB's main focus) since moving back to Chicago, and now that he's joining a much larger site that caters to his style of reporting more, it's suddenly "well why would he leave his cushy dream job at GB for an obvious downgrade?"
I'm not white-washing her. I have my issues with many of her click-bait articles but, still most of them are very well written.
Makes sense. Nobody goes to GB for written content. Kotaku is primarily written content.
The last time I read an article by Patrick Klepek, I think it was on 1up.com. He wrote an "article" about how Nintendo would not be putting multiplayer in Metroid Prime 3. It was absolutely one of the least professional articles I have ever read, and peppered with a very crybaby tone that lacked perspective.
I think he'll fit right in at Kotaku.
