A peek inside Notch's housewarming party

Also wtf...

Typical Dillon Francis

Smh at the large amount of hate and salt in this thread. It's Notch's money, his party, and his house. Sometimes it's good to splurge and enjoy life instead of following a "blueprint" of life. For all we know Notch always been about that type of life. For some people to keep throwing "MC Hammer" into the mix just because he's living lavishly right now is shameful.

Damn, just the land that house is built on was worth $12M back in 2012. Also from the listing video, it looks like a lot of the um .. 'furnishings' were included.

I love how clean everything is. I also finally realized that those tall silver pyramid things are some kind of mega space heaters. Awesome.

I've discovered I'm being way too snarky in this thread.

He'll make those $70 mil back in interest on the rest of his money pile in no time at all.

Don't you think the posts made by people who have no comprehension of money are adorable?

Screw the professional photos, I want to see more photo booth antics

... he has a logo for the housewarming party?

He invited Anita Sar..sa...

That Anita person.

Cool.

Yup He invited someone you don't like!

Nothing wrong with spending his money and enjoying his life. Only thing I hope is that he does lots of philanthropic work, giving back in terms of charity.

Amen. I think notch has disproven the saying "you can make a million dollars without hurting someone, but you can't make a billion"

Since he made 700 - 2000 million $$$ from the Mojang/Minecraft deal with Microsoft.

Was a thread when he won the "bidding war" for it in december: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=955105
Thanks, I missed that thread. I'm relieved that he didn't choose the decor. I was a little worried about his proclivities when I saw the grotesque gun display cabinets. Guy's gotta take those things out
so he can fit in a few more stripper poles

Who let in the three morons wearing the same god damn shirt?

I don't judge Notch for spending his money, but I don't think he has any taste to speak of. I'd much rather have this place, which Jared Leto just bought for $5 million:

Big price difference...but damn, look at this shit (the view, plus imagine chilling there):

The pictures don't do the garage justice when there's shit like this going on in it:

Insane.

A billion dollars tends to do that regardless of how humble you may think you are.

I am happy to see him enjoying his money and living it up, it's always great to see people make it big time like this.
Yeah, living it up makes more sense than working to me.

You know buying a house protects you from inflation to a certain degree if you have alot of cash lying around. Id buy a bigger one if i was him.

Indeed. And he is sharing it with a lot of people :D

I know the pressure from Minecraft got to him a lot of times so it's great to see this. With a garage like that I could face anything and still get a grin on my face when I stepped inside.

That house is fantastic.

I'm still in shock at how successful Minecraft is. I can't get into it, but I know so many people who rave about it.

The house has a nice view, but I can't say that the decor is in good taste. I hope that the house was pre-furnished with this stuff. Just look at that montage of guns made out of garbage...

"It’s not about the money. It’s about my sanity."

*Buys giant house in Beverly Hills and throws a celebrity-stuffed party.*

I used to really like him, but now I think he's lost it. Money certainly does that. Le sigh.
What has he lost apparently? I can see a bitter person like you who hates when people get successful, but I'd like your take on what he's lost.

Is he going to be one of these dudes that we see completely broke in a few years time because he spends it all on outrageous stuff?

Sadly, this is very likely what will happen. There's a reason why people who go from 0 to a billion bucks in 2.5 seconds often lose that money quickly when compared to people who have built wealth over time: they are totally unprepared to manage it.

he looks like he's having a good time, which is probably part of that sanity thing. it's as if people don't like to see people having more fun than them

I know, that's what mean -- I personally think Leto's digs are a lot more tasteful than Notch's, and for $65 million less. The style of Notch's mansion is just not for me; even that room you posted just does nothing for me. It's like a coke dealer's mansion from an '80s action film.

Fairly certain he was a millionaire for years before selling Mojang. Hardly going from 0.

One thing I always wonder when I see massive houses is: doesn't it get lonely? I mean, it'll be big and empty unless you invite people over all the time. I've never seen any comments about this myself, so I'm curious if I'd be the only one.

there are probably a few security guards and housekeepers around in a house that big
