Why would a 1080p game be blurred like a subHD one ?

Anyway, motion blur will never be good looking on screenshots. In motion, this game looks stellar, I don't think anyone would ever disprove that...

Because they blurred it artificially with post processing? Thats the whole point.
Check my last post.

Ps. By subHD i meant 900p of course.

Hahah

True, but that seems to be more from some weird blurring of edges than something like MSAA, unless there is actual AA like that, and then some other filter on top of that which adds the blurring on the edges of objects. Kinda hard to tell with this game since the developers have made such an effort to make the gameplay looks and feel movielike.

It has 4xMSAA plus some other form of AA.
Still truth is to much blur and dof never look good in some pics.

But that's... that's exactly how it works. The challenge is finding the right compromise.

You're acting like that's unreasonable.

I dont see how it is less blurry than for example 900p BF 4 with FXAA or 900p Ryse:
Whole non-scaling resolution and 4x MSAA is diminished by too heavy post-processing.

You may very well be right, but I don't think they're going with 4xMSAA for it's sharpness, rather for cleanliness of image. In other words, they want as flawless and aliasing free presentation as possible (which even 4xMSAA on it's own does not offer), mimicking a movie or CGI like look closer. I'd imagine this will look a lot better in motion (where aliasing can be more unforgiving), than it will in stills, but it'll be interesting to see either way. Hopefully when stood still, the intricacies of detailing will still be appreciable.

This fails to hit the point some are making.

Not to sure about the film grain yet, but the blurryness is just the right amount to give it a certain realistic filmic look.
I'm often bothered by games that are too sharp because it just looks artificial.
A movie for example is about as blurry as The Order.

But there is no "a movie". There are movies with a lot of grain that also destroy image quality. An example for this is 300. There are also a lot of people who hate the grain in the bluray but this comes at personal preference, of course.
But in general movies differ greatly in image/picture quality and sharpness so I don't see which comparison you want to make.

You understand that most of this blurriness comes from the depth of field and/or the motion blur ? It will look much better in motion, I invite you to check out some high bitrate video.

The direct feed video from gamrsyde really looks way more promising than any gifs and the leaked 1st hour by far. The screenshots from the OP are just not representive of the actual gameplay, if you ask me. Not that it is anywhere near perfect as one can easily spot shimmering and again I am not a fan of the grain but it looks definitely better than anything else that can be seen in this thread (IQ wise).

To people complaining about motion blur in screenshots just consider your average movie, where every action scene will have copious amounts of blur, even in relatively slow panning movements there's a ton of motion blur, just due to the nature of the framerate etc used. Here's a screenshot from an old film I found. In motion it works, remember that.

Is it actually confirmed that the final game uses it? There's this tweet where it was "Not set in stone yet"

Based on the actual screens and footage, I'd imagine 4xMSAA is in the cards. They probably have some more stuff going on to clean up the image, because otherwise geometrically complex scenes such as these below, would not look as clean as they do.

Uhm, Paris Game Week, Gamescom Trailer, E3 trailer? Thanks for the useful response though!

Who would have thought? I thought there was only one. But in context of the thread and the last page and previous discussion it's the one mentioned a few posts before. With my settings, it's on page 23, 50 ppp.
Edit: It's the Gamescom trailer.

Not sure if posted.

Take this with a healthy grain of salt as it is impossible to confirm that this information is 100% correct.

Just finished The Order 1886, hardest mode. Took me 18 hours. No spoilers.

What can I say? Game is amazingly well-crafted in practically all aspects. Gameplay is tight, visuals are amazing and oh boy, alternate London setting is just overwhelming. Yes, the cinematic feeling is there from framing to lighting to narrative, but the gameplay is as good as any other good old classic TPS game, even better. I'm a big fan of Gears Of War, loved all four entries (Judgment too, had a blast playing it a year ago), but.. this.. THE ORDER 1886, is the superior game. For me, it is the defining TPS of this generation, can't see any similar game doing better in the next few years at least. Kinda bitting my tongue here but, get ready for plenty of surprises because non of the trailers tell much.

Forgot to mention one core aspect of the storytelling: EPIC SOUNDTRACK. and I mean GOOSEBUMPS EPIC.

A.I.: Hardest mode was… that, it was hard. A.I. is interesting but could’ve been improved. Some enemies try to escape, that was a nice touch.
Characters: They’re fantastic. Though there’s room for more character development in further entries.
Replay: Yes, yes it is, especially if you first played it on an easier difficulty.

Overall narrative and gameplay blend pretty good. I don’t think it reaches the levels of TLOU but The Order was good enough IMHO. There are alternate pathways but it depends, some acts are quite direct and linear, but there are some with big enough areas to explore, and different ways to approach enemies.

Edit: Nvm, probably fake. Doesn't help that his name is "RoswellRAD" ....bullshit ahoy.

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but someone in the other thread said that just because it says shipped doesn't mean it actually did. There's some disclaimer that they pointed to with that specific website.

EDIT: Here's the post

Why is the Japanese version at 49.9 dollars and US/Asian versions are 60 dollars?

Does the Japanese version also include English voices and subtitles? or is it all in Japanese?

Thought so. Started downloading it anyway. Their torrent seems to be offline. But I happened to have the old torrent file already. So redownloading seemed to work somehow!

It's only the torrent file itself that is gone which is weird as the file is small... Well, I made an account just for that :)

I wasn't talking about the grain, only the sharpness.
No movie looks like this:

It just doesn't look right in my opinion. Other less sharp game on the other hand look right.
Can't say much about The Order though since I haven't seen it in person yet.

DAMN!

Do they EVER fight the Half Breeds in this game?

Nearly all the gameplay seems to be fighting humans.

I'm really concerned that the Half Breed combat is like 10% of the game.

The spoiler thread would probably answer that question for you, but I don't know if you want to venture in there. Maybe someone who knows can send you a PM.

Yes they've showed it off in the past. I like the way they've keeper a lot of the game under wraps, sick of media blitzes that come with game releases.

Just watched it. Yeah there is some minor temporal aliasing, especially in really distance objects. Couldn't notice that in the PSX demo because there weren't any scenes with that view distance. Wonder if that is expected in the final build.

And yes, it doesn't look nearly as blurry as some of the shots on gamersyde that are being used here.

I must say, it's not easy to capture some of these stills. It's like taking a picture of a moving scene with a camera. Half of them looked blurry when paused and I had to try a different frame.

I'd imagine the half breed encounters become more frequent the further in to the game you get. And who knows, there could always be other enemy types?

Love the look of the screenshots and the game as a whole. I’m really excited to see this game released, I’ve been following it quietly for ages now and it looks amazing. I love the setting, love the art direction, love pretty much everything about it.

Unfortunately I doubt I’ll get to play it as I’m on XB1 / sons PC right now and with a new arrival in the family (first little girl woohoo!), getting the home boiler repaired as well as fix a hit and run on my car the chances of getting my hands on a PS4 are slim (no pun intended) to none!

No one I know is into gaming so I don’t get a hands on, gaf you guys will be my eyes, ears and hands on this one, can’t wait to see the hands on impressions. Super Mega Ultra Jealous indeed.

People here know what motion blur is, they are choosing to ignore it.

Screenshots with motion blur added will always look worse then in direct motion. People here acting like they don't know, they do, it's common sense.

Looking good.

Also, wow; this game really brings out peoples' insecurities. I feel like every graphically impressive exclusive does this; always the same group of posters to.

Wow love that proper grain filter for this theme.

I can understand some don't like, because it isn't what we see in real life. I would do the same if it was FPS, or especially with VR because it designed to be on your eyes.
