This is a look at what one week of harassment directed at Anita Sarkeesian looks like:

If that's unusual, then we should recognize that this isn't just the internet being its thing. And if it is usual holy shit thats revolting and should be unacceptable
Well fair enough, shows different levels of intensity people can have.I'm not going to take a bullet for a play, a movie, a TV show, or a video game. Yet it's my dream to be involved in all of these industries at some level.
I know the details. I just believe that there is sacrifice in pursuing your passion, for some more and for others less.

That's kind of what the core of GG is about

No. It's about self-deluded miserable people who feel the world's against them and they have control over their lives. So they do nasty stuff like this because they actually get results and have a voice for seemingly a change.
But yeah, blame violent games.
Do you actually see romance in being threatened while pursuing your goals?
The vitriolic bile being spewed by internet trolls has been inexcusable; however, it is also inexcusable to allow this to drown out an otherwise legitimate concern about wanting to keep politics and videogames separate.
Lets be realistic here, Gamergate has gone off the deep end so hard that it's no longer about that anymore.

Yes but I have a narcissist disorder so it makes sense for me. I see now that it's very different for others.
I think you misread the intent of that sentence. He was saying these people have formed their identities around gaming (of which some are violent). Not really that is a result of violent video games.

You also appear to live in a country without freely available guns and a miniscule murder rate. And, of course, are anonymous, unlike women whose names are in the credits of their games. Your bravery in the face of danger is remarkable.
You're wrong, sorry to say. See: Gamergate.
Lets be realistic here, Gamergate has gone off the deep end so hard that it's no longer about that anymore.
That doesn't prove your premise.
Though that faulty premise does explain the weird sudden drumbeat to get violence out of games.
This is just...
Just make games and dont say feminists stuff/getting involved in Gamergate and you are in the clear. Not everyone needs to know your opinion on something.
Overdramating stuff just to scare people away isnt the right thing to do.

You're rather unproductive here since you're not right.I know it sounds bizarre, but yes, some people do.
Please illustrate how me not buying that people are controlled by the media they consume is defending Gamergate.Sorry that you are in denial, but it's true of this group of people. The reactions to Leigh Alexander's article is another example. But sure, keep defending these scumbags.
I know it sounds bizarre, but yes, some people do.

You may want to address my post that actually covers more relevant reasons for why these people are asshats.

A self aware narcissist...rare as hens teeth, good for you. <-- not sarcasm.
Wow.
What's up with all these, sob stories, woe is me, I'm a victim stories lately?
Regardless of what you do in life, there are going to be people who hate on you. You keep doing your thing and let the haters hate. When you let the haters get to you, that's when you lost. They accomplished their mission.
Why wow? It is like it is. Havent seen a girl being attacked who didnt raised her voice about Gamergate.

So basically just "shut up and don't talk about gamergate or else?"
That attitude is disgusting.
What else you wanna do? Raise your voice and say everything you want just because you make games? Yeah that worked for Fish right?
How is it that every GG thread brings out the most ignorant, unempathetic people?

How many people are ruled by a TV show they watch etc? The claim is absurd.Imru al-Qays;151719608 said:How bizarre is it, really? People form their identities out of all sorts of stuff, including which city they happened to grow up in, which sports team they happen to like for some reason, and which imaginary skyfather they worship.
Like the post everyone seems content to completely ignore stated, I think you're letting the tail wag the dog and calling that proof. You've offered no evidence to back up your frankly ludicrous claim that no one bases their identities on video games.
Yeah yeah GamerGate, yeah yeah everyone lucky enough to not be a victim of this is tired of hearing about it myself included, whatever. Theres a moratorium on general discussion, which I understand, and maybe this crosses that line, but goddamn this quote got to me:
That is the real cost of this series of events, something I think is easy to lose sight of behind all of the noise. This isn't about name calling, its about women being driven out, in a very literal way
The entire piece is worth a read

So people shouldn't have the right to say what they want, because other people will assault them, and it's actually the people who are speaking out's fault. What else you wanna do? Raise your voice and say everything you want just because you make games? Yeah that worked for Fish right?

The week before last, I went to court to file a restraining order against a man who calls himself "The Commander." He made a video holding up a knife, explaining how he'll murder me "Assassin's Creed Style." He wrecked his car en route to my house to "deliver justice." In logs that leaked, he claimed to have weapons and a compatriot to do a drive-by.
