Lauda would be perfect to replace Bernie. He clearly understands the requirements of modern F1 and he's widely liked by the public.

Not to mention how good F1 would look for promoting an ex-world champion to chief.
Eh. Lauda seems quite.......off kilter often enough. He's well liked but I've stopped listening to what he has to say a while ago.

After his tirade during that debacle in Indy where he basically called out Bernie, FIA, Ferrari and Jordan at the same time for caring only about Ferrari and themselves and not the sport itself and what they were actually doing by denying the possibility of a chicane on the oval so the Michelin runners could race safely, he would get my vote every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

He couldn't care less about being able to score points that day because like he said it was a farce that would end up cost F1 a lot just because Ferrari denied the idea of a chicane.
Absofuckinglutely. Also gave Webber and Alonso their shot.

I never get sick of listening to that tirade. The fact that he's almost brought to tears when talking about it is another feather in his cap.

I like Lauda, he is a piss taker and comes out with some shit yes but the paddock respects him and I think he would do a good job.

You guys are mean. ;(

True, they are but however much my 930 is a great bit of kit being stuck in the MS Walled Desert of Apps and Hardware is kinda boring. Unless W10Phone has much better support i'm going back to whatever Android is next year.

It's a nice change but the random compatibility with hardware does my head in.

3 1/2 weeks to go! Damn, i love the motorsport season! MotoGP, F1, BSB, WSB, WEC and Rallying. Bring it on!

I guess that Red Bull will keep the cammo livery, but with their usual blue, red and yellow colors, making the cammo very subtle to not get in the way (to distract from) the sponsors.

So... Nikki Lauda is coming over to inspect his aircraft tomorrow. A lot of my friends work there and I'm going to see if I can sneak it!

D:

Holy shit! Do it! Post pics >.<

As for Bernie, get that prick as far away from F1 as possible. This will sound terrible but the sooner the Grim Reaper turns up for his sorry ass the better.

His daughter is hot though >.>

New Fox/Ten Formula 1 deal to start in 2015 (for the Australians)
A new deal between Fox Sports and Network Ten that will see just 10 Formula 1 races shown live on free-to-air will start this season.

Statements announcing the five-year agreement confirm that the subscription service will carry live coverage of practice, qualifying and races from this season.

Ten of those races will also be simulcast live on Network Ten, which had exclusively hosted F1 in Australia since 2003.

The free-to-air station will continue to broadcast all sessions from Albert Park’s Australian Grand Prix as part of the agreement.

The 10 races that are exclusively live on Fox Sports will be seen on Ten’s sub-channel One HD in 60 minute highlights form at 9:30pm on the following Monday.

Fucking pack of bastards. If they think they'll get a subscription out of me just to watch their shitty (likely) SD simulcast, Foxtel have another thing coming.

Fuck you, Channel Ten.

Fuck paying $50 a month to watch the F1. FoM, Sky and Foxtel can go fuck themselves.

This might be the year I fully convert to watching WEC. Want to know why broadcast numbers are dwindling, Bernie? This fucking shit.

Combine that with Supercars going to pay tv and I'm pretty much done with Australian motorsport and tv. If I can't watch half the races live anyway, I'll just watch them later unlive. Fuck 10.

Yup, downloads all the way, I think. Just have to avoid this thread, FB and disable notifications on the F1 app. Or find a better way to stream it illegally.

I didn't realise Supercars were going pay TV as well. Might as well kill that sport off as well.

You think Bernie gives a shit? He is still getting paid and is in his 80's, he cares absolutely zero for the long term future of the sport.

I'm really happy that we still get F1 for free in Switzerland. But with the increasing budget pressure I don't know how long this will go on. They would definietly drop it imediatly if Sauber were gone.

It might be profitable for Bernie in the short term (I guess 1 payed watcher gets them more than 10-20 free ones), but will hurt the popularity of the sport in the long term.

I knew something was up from the advertisements they were running a few weeks ago. They were specifically touting "Every MotoGP Live" but only "The Australian F1 GP live". I was hoping it was just a last minute sorting our of the 2015 deal :(

Exactly what happened to the BBC a few years back. Had all the races live for a few years then Sky show up with lots of money and get all the live rights, with the BBC just showing a handful live. Even though Channel 4 was willing to go half with the BBC for more money than Sky offered. Sky probably offered some prostitutes as well (maybe).

So $50/month doesn't even get it in HD? Foxtel slug you an extra $10/month just to display the channel on your TV at the resolution they broadcast it in?

I always wondered why foxtel looks so awful on my parents TV.

If you guys know anything about newsgroups/usenet there are usually uploads of tv broadcasts after races.

The thing is on the east coast of Australia the majority of races start at 10pm Sunday night which is perfect for me to watch live. I'm not a morning person and staying unspoiled for close to 24 hours after the race is very tough, impossible if Riccardo wins a race.

$25 for sports
$10 for HD
$10 for iQ to record

$70 total

Thanks! :(

Aw man, I feel sorry for the Aussie GAF bros. I can see that happening here in Brazil too, if both Felipes don't show some impressive stuff this year. I have cable at home, but it would still suck.

EDIT: my CFD eyes were right. Red Bull's chief-engineer said that Williams has the best nose solution, and that they'll try to copy it.

Now you guys see how we feel. I will never pay for Sky Sports. I don't watch football or any other crap sports they pay £5b for and jack the price up of their sub.

I got rid of Foxtel years ago, complete waste of money.

First they took Motogp qualifying and moto3 and moto2 and I did nothing, then they took the local V8's and still I said nothing. Finally they took F1 and, well... get fucked Bernie you greedy SOB.

The sky switch in the UK pretty much killed general public interest, 'the race' pretty much took up all discussion the following Monday at work but noone cares anymore.

Aiii

So not worth it
It's good but rather easy.

Still quite a few hours of fun if you want to win all the championships though.

Only played 1,5 championship so far, but Hard tires + long runs and I'm winning everything with One-two's because every other team pits once or twice more than I do.

I honestly haven't noticed a difference. F1 hasn't seemed to be a big deal outside of enthusiasts in the UK since the late 90s. There's been blips here and there along the way with Lewis and Jenson's success, but I very rarely encounter anyone that watches the sport.

As for highlights deal, with the state the sport has been in recently, most of the races benefit from having half an hour cut out of them frankly.

It's certainly not a bad deal in the UK as the BBC have been doing a great job with the highlights, but unfortunately given Australia's time zone it has far more of an impact for them.

Sahara Force India ‏@ForceIndiaF1
Barcelona bound! Car & kit on the road, we are heading to Catalunya! #FeelTheForce #OnTheRoadAgain

Looks like Force India will have some green in their new livery after all.

So Ron wants £50 million for title sponsorship.

Martini pay less than Johnnie Walker and get more exposure.

WTF is he smoking.

Formula 1 team title sponsors are history - McLaren's Ron Dennis

"I feel a bit like Manchester United, which has had a run of crappy football games and gone down in the league. I still think we are Man Utd, I still think that we can come along and say 'will you sponsor us? We are still Man Utd'.

"The last thing you should do is suddenly start doing deals that are last place in the league table. That is maybe flawed, but I don't think so. That is the way I think."
Ahahahahaha.
