Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
Yeah, I'm really hoping we get S3. I believe the anime has caught up to the LN, so we would have to wait awhile.

I liked this ep and I would love to see the world and the story grow.

LN come out pretty fast though. Its normal novels like Hyouka that never come out.

Episode was good - I'm enjoying their adventure, though tbh not much at all has happened.

I did not however like the sauna scene. Serera and the cat is a creepy matchup because she is portrayed far to young and him far to old. Minori and Shiroe continues to piss me off.* Oh and that whole "My boobs!" moment - I expect better from this show that shit like that.

Roe 2 is neat but I have to wonder how shes a thing. Hope that gets an explanation. Nureha showing up makes things more interesting for sure. And that portable Cathedral? Now thats cool shit. And also kind of dark too.

I am a bit confused by whats going on in Akhiahabra - did I miss something? Looks like they are making preparations for something big but we don't know what. I did like the roundtable scene. Fun politics. For me, not them.

*The only one that actually works in Rudy and the lute girl. "Rudy is a dog" is a joke that just keeps on giving.

S2 E17

Another low key episode, but with a few new surprises. Also, my thoughts original thoughts on resurrection were wrong as to what happens to adventures who need to rez too many times.
Seems like instead of just losing your memories of the real world, it actually erodes your sense of self and you end up as more an avatar with no personality. You basically are just an empty shell.

This outcome is way way worst that I envisioned where players eventually became something similar to NPCs who only know of the world of Elder Tale and nothing of the world they came from. Damn is that depressing. I wonder if Rudy is bound by this rule now as well.

This is my personnal speculation but i think that this portable temple is not perfect like a regular temple and thus may have exagerated or different effects.

Most of the fighting guilds died a lot ( and i that i mean a LOT ) yet they aren't even remotely near that amount of "emptyness".

Fairly interesting episode.

Talk of income equality and thoughts on welfare. Pretty interesting for them to talk about this stuff and whether there should be trade secrets and the downside to making everything public.

The portable temple is pretty interesting as well. The side affects make it seem like it is a cursed artifact. Also the sound it gave off was not pleasant. The really bad thing is that it also seems like it forces anyone that dies near by to be ressed by it. It could also lead to a pking situation where you appear there and get pk'd.

SOCIALISM?!? IN MY MMO?!?!?!? WHY I NEVER

I was really disturbed by that temple. Even though the animation was still kind of janky the whole tone felt really ominous and the masked Plant Knights really helped the zombie appearance, too.

Log Horizon Season 2, Episode 18:

Okay, not going to lie, that episode dragged in places, mainly since Izuzu's character development is hitting on the same treadmill of tedium that Akasuki did. At least the bard has Rudy to bonce off of so it makes things somewhat more tolerable. That being said, I love how we get such large truth bombs from such casual conversation. So the People of the Land are speaking a different language and only know of 42 songs that were integrated into the game of old. That really shows how much The Adventures are changing things and why Akiba is such a beacon of hope to The People of the Land. Anyway, the scenes with Toyha and Nureha were just odd, not sure if he knows the truth, but that can wait because HOLY SHIT WYVERNS!

OH SHIT! BOTH HIS EYES ARE OPEN

The adventures of the newbie squad has been a lot more informative and interesting than I expected. Here we got the revelation of how conversation with People of the Land isn't as simple as it seems and the realization that people of the land only know 42 songs which makes sense since the MMO creator are only going to have a finite number of songs in the game and it explains why they're so enthralled with her music. As far as they're concerned they've been listening to the same 42 songs for hundreds even thousands of years. Last few moments of the episode have me wondering if Nyanta is eventually going to have to reveal himself to them and I'm still curious as to why he's following them, it can't just be for safety can it?

Tohyas parts were great. I never tire of seeing him on drums. Its great, and also his time with Dariella.

Hyped for next week based on the clouds. Though I wish they didnt need someone tailing them.

Great episode.

Tohya's parts were ace. Love how he sees through nureha. Ending was exciting. Shitoe and Akatsuki were hilarious.

Lute girl had good moments but maybe got a bit too emotional.

But what stole the show were the bits about people of the land only having 42 songs and the auto trans later. Log horizon continues to explore the mmo idea better than any other show has

Also, I wish lute girl could actually sing. She ruins the song :(

He wasn't tailing them ..he was checking things for shiroe , by following the minami soldiers troups. Last episode he was clearly at a different place and hasn't got back to akihabara since...

holy shit what's even happening.

the direction was all over the place this episode. Sometimes it was inspidly bland and sometimes it was actually quite amazingly effective at being disquieting and weird. Bizarre. Sound design with the scene of Tohya and the Disguised Princess by the riverside was astounding, perfect pacing with the Shiroe and Akatsuki comedy scene afterwards (you even get to hear how Akatsuki's grown a little as a person even though she's still the world's no1 RPer apparently)

can't wait to find out what's up with the odyssey knights. Didn't someone mention an odyssey guild that was questing to get back to the world earlier? Hmmm.

Oh, the mobile shrines probably cut off communication, ey? And they're portable respawn gates. THINK THAT HAS ANY MILITARY APPLICATION?!?!?! :3

Not to mention the language and song restriction stuff. I can't believe I didn't see it earlier: the adventurers don't just represent unfair power, but they represent change, or at least self-directed change. It seems apparent that the Landers just kind of got the short end of the stick whenever their history began or whatever, with patches basically seeming like acts of god (or magic).

fuck, so damn cool

Log Horizon Season 2, Episode 19:

Well then, this was one of the biggest wham episodes we have had in awhile. Good god, where to start, we get insight into the darker side of the technical exploitation of the rules as we learn that maglev train is powered by strapping down a Person of the Land and doing what I assume is horrendous things. I'll be honest they kind of lost me with the technical details but the end result is no less astounding and dangerous. Also seems to be piloted by a Person of the Land noble who is quite the bigot. Also, it seems the the train was Nyan's true focus, which makes sense, this machine is a grave threat to the grand city of Akihabara. More on that next week. The main focus this week is on The Red Night and in refreshing change from the arcs at the beginning of the season, this isn't a raid event as the implication seems to be the Wyverns are reacting to some bit of Plant Hwyaden technology. Probably that portable cathedral. Anyway, the Junior League in spite of them being quite smaller then the situation cast their resolve to fight the good fight and save the villagers as much as possible. I would say the best part of this episode was the encounter between Toyha and the Odyssey Knights as we have learned that the OK are not just berserker but people whose desperation for escape have lead them to believe that the endless cycle of death is the path to freedom why Toyha is resolved to protecting this world as it is now just as real just as alive as the old one and he was crippled. Meanwhile Izuzu has gotten out of her funk and is not set to change the very fabric of reality with a terrible interpretation of music. Seriously, could they not have gotten an actual singing voice here? Roe 2 and Midori come to vows of sisterhood and I guess Roe has joined the party and I have noticed that the disguised Nureha has kind of slinked off while nobody is looking. I am looking forward to the duel next week between Longdark and Nyan.

Episode 19:

Tohya/Odyssey Knights parts were pretty excellent, liked
the flashbacks to the real world (we finally get to see what happened, and what he looks like in the real world!) I do like how they'd tackling the "Is this world really real, is it worth living in?" question.

However...

Rest of the episode was brought down by extremely low-budget action and somewhat hamfisted dialogue. God Minori is terrible.

Most emotional episode for me. I wept bitterly at the cruel unfair real world. He should have been the main of the show he has the backstory and passion that the real lead is lacking. And it was so well done.

Tohya in Elder Tale looks better than IRL Tohya.

I'll be honest, his backstory just reminded me of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and that is a bad thing.

Also, Toyha is alright but he is very much the typical shonen hero that infests so much of anime. Log Horizon made the right call in making Shiroe the protagonist.

Good episode ...
tohya condition and backstory was hinted A LOT before , so the confirmation is there... the truth of the odissey knight is alright while i disagree , i can understand their motivations and desperation , they feel dead because they don't see elder tale world as their reality.. it's a nice contrast to william guild where elder tale became their reality and they embraced it..

Minori is close to have 2 mentors , shiroe & roe 2 ... talk about being an overpowered student ... Anymore and we'll be able to start "History strongest disciple : minori" sub franchise.

.

Next episode , we'll probably have nyanta kicking ass left and right , can't wait ...

You're supposed to speculate like crazy untill you get an answer in episode 21.

And then this thread will get active, that's for sure.

Expected an episode full of battle and left with some really strong plot and character development.
The Odyssey Knights haven't lost their minds or souls...they just want to get back to the real world and dying lets them glimpse into the lives they want to go back to. Not sure why I didn't think about that, but damn that makes what appears to be a bout of insanity make a lot of sense. It's coming up on a full year since the Apocalypse so it makes tons of sense that there would be individuals who would die just to see a glimpse of home, even at the cost of their own memories.

Tohya's interaction too was pretty solid. Makes sense he'd feel that way, though the flip side gives you an insight to how some people may view the game world and its inhabitants.

Lastly...damn that's crazy what Minami is doing with some of the People of the Land.
Crazier still that this whole biz is being led by one of their own and using them as a resource.
Shit's getting bonkers.

Yeah...I didn't get what that was all about either, but based on how much this series has flipped tons of MMO and game tropes on their heads, I'm expecting some other big reveal. Based on the pacing of this season, the big battle with Minami won't come till season three.

Is that correct? Yeah, they die because they want to see their home. But I figured that was aggravated by the fact that they are losing their humanity.

That battle scene, and the fact that Dariella specifically said that the resurrection thing messes with their heads leads me to believe that your explanation is a bit off. And I hope so too, because the portable cathedral messing with their minds is far cooler and far darker than them just being desperate to go home.

But it makes a ton more sense that's the reason why they do it and their reactions when resurrected. I'm sure it does make them go insane. Roe 2 likened it to a drug, but that drug is seeing their old lives and the only thing they want is to get more of that feeling and escape the world they are in right now.

I'm sure there is mental degradation as well as they are continually losing their memories of the real world and, as with any addictive drug, you become solely focused on getting your fix than anything else.

Lemme guess...
The emothions are those memory flakes adventurers shed whenever they die and are resurrected. They are somehow linked to the world's mechanics, which Roe 2 tries to explain but doesn't make much sense since she uses completely alien concepts in her speech patterns, due to her being neither Lander nor adventurer, but rather a sentient server glitch.

Fuck me, this show's writing is so good

The Minori/Roe conversation was almost like a Metal Gear boss fight in terms of how lost I was getting and how hilariously dramatically inappropriate it was though

What the fuck is Roe? I thought she was just Shiroe's ALT, but I'm beginning to think she's a sentient AI or a glitch something, especially once she started talking about organs - that was about three steps away from calling them meatbags. But then where does all that Onee-chan bs come from? Also, what level be she?

One thing I've always loved about Log Horizon is that the main cast is largely totally OP in terms of raw power (hence why Roe and the Chief are such pivotal figures here) but that that's not the solution to everything. But it still makes them beating the shit out of things interesting.

The Odyssey Knight stuff was fascinating. If only they hadn't jumped the shark straight into "also everybody else gotta die too". Or maybe that was just that dude on the bridge snapping.

Also - where the fuck did the Princess go?

Roe 2 is lv 90

Princess is probably taking a cosy nap on her bed , when she is not enjoying tea parties with her friends ? She currently suffers from "loliness" thanks to crusty disapearance.

Log Horizon Season 2, Episode 20:
Well, we can safely cleave this episode in two parts. The first is the boss rush Naynta faces with the upper echelons of Plant Hwylden who go on some god damned long winded bordering on the nonsensical speeches about the nature of life and death within The World. I am not sure who is more unhinged Longdark or Trudy and in spite of the babbling that was certainly the highlight of this episode. I have said this before and I will say this again, in spite of the downgrade in art, Studio Deen for whatever reason has brought with them actual fight choreography that the flat and flavorless Satelight could never bring to the table. I find the overall plans of Plant Hwylden to still be rather inscrutable unless this is all still being planned as the big payoff to war with Akihabara. Meanwhile Nureha reflects on the joy being around Shiroe's scrub league gave her because she is god damned obsessed with Shiroe and decides to rescind the Red Night as a secret gift to him. I hope there is a method to this madness, we have certainly seen hint of something, something dark that is behind this drive. I wish to know more about it, I wish to know more about this antagonist. On the flipside, I have gotten enough to Iszuzu for one lifetime, I suppose I can appreciative what they are doing with all this chracter development they have been given her, but the fundamental problem is she just is not that interesting. Also, it doesn't help that her voice actress can't actually sing, bit of a hamper there.

Isuzu just joined the realm of the cheated people with this episode as she finally unleash her hidden skill ... *wink , wink * i wonder what is the effect of this new song ?? *wink*

But that's the boring part ...
Nyanta was there , and he did just what i asked ..nyanta , you're the best cook i could possibily want in an anime AND MORE just after sanji from one piece.

PS: i don't need a manual to know what i should do , just saying ...

Man the way things are getting started for the finale ..this is gonna be good.

Easily the 1 of the 2 only great things about the episode. Ever since I started watching Shirobako I've been more conscious of this stuff and the fight sequence was so much better than what has been shown in previous episodes of Log Horizon. I thought I was watching something totally different. Thank you for providing context on the animation studio changes.

The other really cool even if bizarre moment was
Long Dark getting thrown into the grinder. My thrill over that scene will be tempered by how he reacts to that callous and flippant betrayal in subsequent episodes. If doesn't start becoming an antagonist for the People of the Land it undermines his monologue.

Other than these 2 moments I really disliked how this episode played out. Everything was handled in a very clumsy manner.

Log Horizon S2 Ep. 20

Nyanta's fight with PH was sure interesting, but not so much for what their plans are of the nature of living in the world they live in, but how he approached Trudy who is not an adventure but a very powerful Person of the Land. This of course means that unlike his fights with adventurers due to the fact that his winning would be of course he's actually killing someone. There were moment there I wasn't quite sure if he was completely willing to go through with killing her, but Kazuhiko's words at the end seem to suggest that he very much would have killed her to stop her plans. Luckily Kazuhiko saved them both, he prevented her from possibly dying and Nyanta from possibly having to kill someone. Fight scenes were amazing to watch though.

Log Horizon Episode 20

DAMN where did all that budget come from? Nyanta fight was great. Shame the second half of the episode went back to typical Log Horizon slideshow action.

Nyanta being a total badass (until he starts getting his ass kicked though I guess he sort of stops trying), talking about how people were mad about being brought to this world.... pretty good stuff!

Too much talking overall and internal monologuing (God, they're still going with Izuzu's shit? Come on, lets move past it already. That said,I did enjoy the questions they are posing about death and living in this world. Its funny, I thought that people being able to die would make the show boring, but in fact its allowed for a lot of really cool moments and discussions.

Really hope izuzu goes back to the background after this, her shtick has gotten old and got pretty hamfisted by the end. Doesn't help that she can't really sing.

4 episodes left...

Ok, I totally can't tell the difference between adventurers and People of the land anymore; when they flash the quick bio of a character, is there a way to tell if they're an adventurer? Was the red haired chick with the ivy whip a "people of the land"? And wasn't she lvl 62 to Nyanta's 90?

There's usually a People of the Land as their race or something.

As ugly as this season's been, I want another one. How small or big are the chances?

I feel like this entire season is just build up to a bigger larger plot line like a war or something, but we'll never know. At least people who only watch the anime. It's like building up for nothing y'know.

It will be awhile if we ever do get a new season. Reason being there is only 1 new arc left of material to adopt from the web novel and that arc is less then half completed right now. Sadly I don't think it will get a 3rd season mostly due to it doing little to boost the LN sales and the anime sales of the BR are not good.

Basically what I expected I guess. I had a feeling this probably isn't even doing all that well and that we won't be getting another season, which makes this current season that much more of a damn bore.

People of the land and adventurer live by différent rules. This is especially true regarding Xp
A regular people of the land gain less xp than an adventurer and i won't count the numerous people of the land bonuses.

It seems however that people of the land that were characters in the game have a fixed level BUT higher stats/habilities than an adventurer at the same level. Think of them as bosses in a rpg Someone may be at lv 68 but have a lot of HP and ATk for exemple. Like that blond dude within kanami party in china.( bad exemple as he is lv 100 but his level is set not gained )

As for a quick way to tell if someone is a people of the land or not , no there isn't if there are geared , otherwise rudy sneaking into an adventurer group in S1 wouldn't make sense.
The way i saw this fight is simple someone lv 68 kinda one shotted an adventurer at lv 90+, she is a people of the land, no doubt , nyanta probably reached the same conclusion despite the fact that he was angry right away.
