The Order 1886: Official spoiler thread for all black bars

I truly find that hard to believe.

Mordor's was that bad?

It's basically the same as The Order's except even shorter and more bizarre considering on who you fight.

Also do you even fight werewolves in this game? I've only seen a few videos but I've seen one werewolf battle. The rest are against random goobers.

If you saw the earlier Elder Lycan battle from chapter 4 and the final boss battle you know it looked similar but from the pics below you can see that some of the animations are exactly the same

Aside from a couple of extended parts it
was the exact same fight, and a big, big letdown for a climax.

Why not have the showdown somewhere cool? Like the top of the houses of parliament or inside the clock tower of big ben or something.

Right? Go crazy and
just take it outside, he's on the loose, people panicking and freaking out, you doing a chase down with some melee parts before he goes on the run again.

Could've been neat

Man that's really disappointing. Like super disappointing. I can understand saving resources but that's ridiculous.

I appreciated this btw. I wish more people would start off their posts like this so it's better to decipher who actually played the game when reading impressions on the game. It's much easier to filter out impressions that are irrelevant this way.

lol

u havent played it so this is irrelevant, sorry.

I don't need to have played the game for me to SEE
the poor story, lack of gameplay variety and anti-climactic "boss" encounters. Barely any of the games conflicts are resolved. The story is incomplete. It's a shame that it's being sold as a complete package when it clearly isn't.

How is it irrelevant?
Seeing the exact same animations is not something that is required for playing the game. Animations are something you can watch.

He's mocking Glorified G's earlier comment.

This is some tragic stuff right here.

I think this is the thing that sucks the hardest. I caved and watched some of the gameplay after all of the brouhaha over purported gameplay/cinematics ratio and then hopped into this thread
to verify a couple of quirks to the AI (it looked really poor to me) and then see the plot ripped left and right even by the OP of the impressions thread and... Man. All of the people who are holding out for something special come Thursday seem to be in for a rude awakening and that really sucks for everyone involved.

Ohhhhh I get it.

As far as game design goes good idea. Introduce your player to the concept,
rather than have the final boss battle be their first experience with it
.

The problem is that the concept isn't open enough to make this worthwhile. If it felt like more of a part of the main game, and if you were allowed
free circular movement
in these moments, it would seem like far less of a QTE.

Lol. Not sure if serious.

Some werewolf cannon fodder enemies very rarely appear; they're the equivalent of dogs in other shooters in how they move and attack.

The vast majority of foes are guys with guns; the werewolves feel like an afterthought. Not counting QTE bosses, there are only two types of enemies in the entire game.

I'm so sick of guys with guns.

Yes, exactly this!
For a game about an ancient order hunting werewolves (and vampires, apparently), it felt so pedestrian. Seeing that 80% of the game has you fighting generic rebel thugs was a real let down.

Lol. Not sure if serious.

Sure I'm serious. All the visual information you can get from this game is not really reliant on owning it. I don't have a feel for the gunplay, sure, but everything else about the game is readily available for viewing via youtube.

Reading the story impressions, it seems like it's all style and not much substance game. The anti climactic stuff is really disappointing. This game could have been up there with TLOU with some better writing.

From the initial reveal, I assumed we would be fighting monsters and sorts, but it looks like they are rare occasions.

Yeah...some parts are just poor.
I saw a scene where you're pulling an ally to safety on the ground, and you're shooting goons on the 2nd story that keep coming out of the same spot, going to the same spot...dying over and over. This goes on for 10-20 seconds but it just looked so poor.
.

New runner doing a thorough check of nearly every corner, picking up every item he finds, and listening to every audio log he's come across. Comparing him with our speed demon 5.5 hour rusher at the same point in Chapter 4, this is our time comparison:

Guy playing the game right | 2 h 19 min 57 sec
5.5 hour speed demon | 2 h 2 min 32 sec

He's only 17 minutes slower.

The whack-a-mole encounter design sticks out like a sore thumb when the rest of the game is so cinematic. It's really jarring.

Are you taking into account the amount of atmosphere he's soaking in?

Post that in the other thread, they are acting as if finding all the collectibles is going to add 4/5 hours to their game.

Man, the amount of "aggression" in post like these. Can we at least wait for the other guy to complete the game? Maybe the first 4 chapters are more focused and the playtime is really variable from chapter 5 onwards.

This is still going on huh. Kind of sad actually. There are other games coming out...you realize that this isnt the end, right?

What are you talking about

The Earth has gone off course and is veering towards the sun, we have about 2-3 weeks until everything will just catch on fire. The Order 1886 is the last AAA game we're getting.

Actually that's where the chapters that are 100% cutscene start popping up.

Dude, the snarky backhanded shit going down in these threads, lmfao

Making me feel like this game is gonna get a 40 metacritic

This game is not bad at all . Me and I guess a lot of other people here are just disappointed because there was a lot of potential they could have used. The Story for example is quite good but they left so many things open at the end that it frustrates a little bit.

I think it's a good start for a new IP and I hope they improve a lot in the sequel for example more freedom while playing and less small cutscenes that interrupt the gameplay.

I would still give it a buy recommendation.

There was no aggression in my post, just pointing out this is the second video evidence after the first guy was "speed running it".

The spoiler thread is where the real shade gets thrown at this game. Some of the shit I am reading and seeing in here makes this game look super mediocre.

Does that really count as a spoiler? All the trailers I've seen indicated the game was like that.

Funniest part is that he says that the demos "obfuscated" it. Suure.

Mind you, looks like he doesn't really understand what "embargo" means.

"Quick, show the other guys they're wrong!" is not even a bit "aggressive"?

Substantiating something that others are questioning isn't exactly aggressive. The first video was verifiable info on the game length, but some thought it wasn't a good indicator. Pointing out another piece of evidence that accounts for those concerns, that also confirms that original point should be something people would want in the conversation. Unless you dislike the resulting information, that shouldn't be objectionable.

Sounds like he's not playing it and just going off of videos and trade show impressions like everyone else. I don't think Danny reviews games.

Speaking of review embargoes, why is there an embargo until the day before release for an incredibly short offline single-player game?

There's a legitimate point to be made for making the editorial reveal for a game feel more like an event than just a drip of responses. This way, it gives all reviewers more time to actually process their thoughts on a game, rather than race to get something/anything printed, since there is value to being an earlier voice.
