Halo: The Master Chief Collection is STILL broken after 100 days

I think the biggest thing is the shadiness. Knowingly putting out a broken product, refusing to provide refunds for it, continuing to advertise said broken product, keeping broken product on store shelves so they can continue to profit from broken product, not issuing a recall, and not fixing the problem.

Sounds like 343 listening to Halo 4 feedback and then including sprint in Halo 5 lmao.

You are the vocal minority at this point in regards to sprint. How are people still not getting this?

Feedback from H5 beta said people wanted sprint as well.

You know sprint was in Halo Reach as well, right? Also in Destiny. Odds that Bungie would've kept it the same if they were still working on the franchise are insanely high.

lol, another one of these eh? Can't wait for next week's.

I ask this every time. I don't really care for multiplayer but I loved the campaigns on Halo 1 and 2. I never get a straight answer.

Probably because there isn't one. Some people have no issues, some people have tons. I personally made it through Halo 1 and 3 during launch month in online co-op with no issues. Halo 2 went fine in online co-op as well until Delta Halo, which would always crash in the same spot. My buddy and I ran into a couple more issues while working through H2 in the months following launch, with desyncs and whatnot. I managed to finish a level for us where we desync'd though, and it became a fun little challenge in itself. I also ran into an issue with a West Coast friend (East Coast myself) where Halo 3 would slow to a crawl, so he wasn't able to join us as a fourth. I beat Halo 4 solo with no issues.

Matchmaking is hit or miss, and I've had varying success since launch. Some days I get games instantly (depending on the playlist), some days it'll take 3 or more searches before I get one. I also haven't had a ton of issues searching with parties, outside of friends getting put on the opposite team.

I get why people are upset, and I too am somewhat disappointed; if the game never gets patched to a relatively stable state matchmaking wise, it'll be a real shame. That said, some of the hyperbole I've seen on this site is insane, and I always get a good laugh from these threads.

I propose we have another one of these threads for the 1 year anniversary of MCC still not being quite there.

365 days of MCC being kind of ass, we can make an advent calendar out of it!

Seriously though I feel bad for every developer, PR person, tester, and person sub-upper management that had to ship this thing out. I've done bad things in the name of contracting on a much smaller scale, and I can sympathize.

bet you us long time, passionate Halo fans feel worse...

Andrew Ryan: "With all the comments being made in this thread concerning halo MCC it's funny that this is what you come out to respond to."

Tashi (343 Community Coordinator): "There's not much of anything for me to add than what's been said through official channels. I'm really just a HaloGAF'er with lots of friends here that I've made over the years."

Pretty much this ^^^ These threads with many dramatic rants are fun with a bit of popcorn.

If you'd read anything about the problem you'd know its not completely their fault. The game was designed to run with the Xb1's original party system the one that Microsoft had to backpedal on because it was broken, the problems with MCC come from the incompatibility of the new party system that they had to shoehorn in. However as a Halo fan myself I think if you want to leave the franchise then thats fine. Do it, but don't put down a group of people who whether you liked it or not, poured their hearts into halo 4 and the MCC and despite their problems (and yes I know that there were many) they are entertaining games when they do work, and I personally have to say that aside from the debacle of launch week my MCC actually works fine, I've never had to wait any longer than about 7 mins for a match and thats usually in the low pop playlists.

My point that I'm trying to make and which I'll most likely be called a shill for, is that the Halo community at large has become a rather elitest and entitled bunch and definitely one whose opinion on a game seems to flip with each new game that comes out.

For a long time Halo CE was the pinnacle of FPS for me and quite a few people, then halo 2 came out and people complained that they preferred the multiplayer in Halo 1 despite its lan only nature. Then halo 3 came out and guess what? Turns out the entire community preferred Halo 2 but when it finally became time for Halo Reach to release, everyone complained and said Halo 3 was the best after Halo 2, and of course then with the release of Halo 4 everyone flocked back to reach claiming that they had "Way more fun on Reach".

Its happened with every game that has come out, and I'm sorry but at least for me personally, while I've enjoyed every halo multiplayer, I've never particularly cared whether or not its the way everyone remembered or whether it was every really that important. For me the story has always delievered my money's worth and then some, and Halo 4 definitely did that in a big way for me with the bridging of books and games happening at long last (yes with retcons but still I enjoyed it).

For me it comes down to one thing, have I enjoyed every halo game released? Yes, unequivocally so, I've always had my little niggles but I've enjoyed every single game.

If you don't enjoy the game, don't buy it, if you've already bought it, then trade it in, and get something else, because we buy games to enjoy them don't we? Or do we buy them to berate the Developers and complain about every problem despite the knowledge that the team is DESPERATELY trying to fix it. I mean it could be worse, we could have had a situation like AC: Unity where while ubisoft started patching the hell out of it, they basically said "Oh well, better just move on to the next one"

Just my two cents, not looking to begin an argument or a flame war. I accept you find the problems in MCC untenable and for that I'm extremely sympathetic, but to insult the people who made it, is simply churlish and unbecoming and a increasingly alarming sign of the state that the Halo fanbase I used to love has fallen into.

It definitely still isn't perfect but I've been having a pretty reasonable experience with it lately.

It's not broken for everyone.

Do we have an ETA on the next patch? Will it fix all the issues?

The latest bulletin was to tell us that the next bulletin will have an ETA for the patch.

It should fix the vast majority of issues, but I still see playlists, ranks, game settings, maps and gametypes and all that shit being a real long tail for updating and fixing. If it ever really gets done.

I am kind of interested what these fundamental changes are ...

This means why they did not go this way in the first place ;-)

These threads always fail to mention the real problem of 343/Microsoft: somehow, somewhere there are a bunch or suits of that demanded that the game was released before the holiday and 343i had no choice but to comply for obvious reasons. Microsoft doesn't even have respect for their biggest franchise, the one that basically defined the brand. They simply threw 343i under the bus and won't even come forth to defend their handpicked team. Being Ms 1st party must be a terrifying position sometimes.

This. The MCC was a scam, plain and simple. MS sold a broken game, knowing it was broken, because fuck you, we need to win NPD.

This post from the HaloGAF thread sums up these playlist and overall matchmaking concerns very well.

It's going to be a problem for a while, and Halo 5 will most likely be out before they are fully addressed. Then MCC will truly be on the back-burner as 343 focuses heavily on pushing and sustaining Halo 5's population, MCC's population will be an afterthought at that point.

That surely makes it all better. -.-

I'm not saying it makes it better at all. 343 need to keep working on it. The fact that it's still broken for so many people is a massive shame.

However claiming it's entirely broken isn't true. To give them some credit, it's better than it was at launch. That said, that's not particularly impressive.

No? I got the full refund after all the corporate bs talk on the phone, telling me that was me, trying to reset my modem or open some ports of it. I just laugh at her and I just said that I wouldn't do this and the problem is with the game and not with me. go to the xbox forum and take a look at it and see that it's your game that is kaputt. After this she let me waiting for about 10 mins and said that she would give me a refund. Lol

I called probably 5 times? Sadly nothing. No help no nothing only a "it is on your end" stuff . I could have done a chargeback but I am afraid that they would ban my XBL account I have used since the xbox live beta on the first xbox.

I really dont know what Microsoft is thinking?!? I mean screw up Halo?

Last Gen I was on X360 and I switched to PS4 now. Microsoft so far, is doing anything to make this a good decision. They dont have many good exclusives in the pipeline and now even Halo isnt good.

We have learned that
Collecting four games with online multiplayer in a single disc with one UI is not a good idea...

If they didnt merge them on a single UI , maybe many of these problems would not happen...It's a very complicated thing...Bad decision

I prefer separate four Halo games on a single disc but working properly...

Not even close, considering Driveclub's SP has always worked, and the online is now pretty damn reliable. I play an hour or two of DC a night online. I STILL can't play matchmaking with my friends on MCC. The last couple bulletins just keep saying the same thing- a big, massive fix is supposedly coming "soon".
And MCCs SP has always worked too, unless you count achievement glitches.

Jesus. They just had to ship the game in time before christmas.. I guess? Just like Assassins Creed Unity. I hope this won`t become a trend with october/november release titles.

Microsoft's #DriveClub

Gtfo with that shit.

DC's sp has always worked. If this is true then it's not even close.

As long as you play each level to completion and don't shut down at checkpoints.

And avoid playing legendary due to crash-prone levels.

And don't much care about audio mixing since the channels are totally screwed up in Halo 2 and 3.

Etc. etc. etc.

How long did it take for DC to work properly?

SP has worked from the start. MP wasn't as broken as this and clearly not 100 days.

Do we have an ETA on the next patch? Will it fix all the issues?

I have realized there is nothing Microsoft can do about this collection to satisfy everyone. To me, Single player works and matchmaking needs to be faster with ranking added. That's it.

For others who spend says posting about white balance issues and what I consider to be minor PC vs console version differences, I can't imagine they will be happy for a long time. There is a new attitude about this game that will fester, no matter what is fixed, someone will rage over something they find broken.

I have given up. What sucks so bad is that when it plays well, it plays so good. I really want to play Halo.

Halo 3 playlist is no where near as fun as Halo 3 for example, no Shotty Snipers is inexcusable. Team Snipers playlist, both times I played it, it ended up as 1v3 and each time someone leaves it freezes the game that people get a free kill.

I tried Rumble Pit (oh my god please it is always the same H2A map over and over) and when I was winning, the "host" quit and we all got dropped from the game.

Not to mention that even if you play Custom Games with someone on XBL on Halo 1, it plays horrible.

My Halo 4 Custom Game doesn't work. I set it to have Grenadier but it doesn't work. I have a Halo 4 disc and I have compared all of the options and it just doesn't work the same on Xbox One, giving me less grenades for my Game Type

Halo: MCC is great for Campaign
Great for Split Screen
But online is like Halo 1 Xlink Kai

EDIT: Checkpoints do save like normal now from my experience. Some things have been patched.

This quote quite simply terrifies me and reminds me of the posts stinkles made about the death threats that had been made against him and his family. What on earth has happened to the gaming community that a comment like this could even be made? What gives you the right? If you purchased a book and then halfway through find out that you don't like it would you then suggest that the Author should quit and do something else? Your comment astounds me and I hope it stems purely from frustration because if you actually believe what you said then I am truly frightened

People probably do and will need to get fired. They didn't do their jobs. Simple.

because they have probably gotten the majority of the money that MCC will ever make already in the first couple months

i would be surprised if they ever fix this game properly

Well, it's not about the money MCC can still make but more about the flagship IP that Halo is. When you're MS, if you fuck up Halo, you lose your fanbase trust, and i don't think you can put a number on that.

What a mess they've of this. I can't believe its been 100 days and its still such a clusterfuck.

This completely deterred me from buying halo 5. 343i have lost my trust entirely.

The more I think about it the more likely I am going to end up trading my X1 for a Wii U since it gets no fucking use.

Campaign has been working pretty much flawlessly for me, both in single player and in co-op (online). That's all I want, so I'm fine with the MCC.

I bought the game for the single-player campaigns only, no interest in multiplayer. During the first couple of weeks I definitely had issues (game crashing completely, checkpoints not saving) and shelved it for a while. I've been playing again over the past couple of weeks and have had zero issues. Played through all of Halo 2 and I'm halfway through Halo 3 now. All checkpoints have saved as they should when I've quit in the middle of a mission.

Regardless, I have no plans to buy Halo 5 due to the poor handling of this whole debacle.

broken if you party up with people, which sucks tbh , i tried with my cousin and friends and we fail

its fine if you play solo, i have gotten a ton of games since i got it from the MS store glitch, from Big team battle to swat to everything, its been fun

Not the case for everyone. Last night I couldn't get a game to save my life. But, some nights I can party up and get some decent games in. The game is a mess and 343 are a bit of a joke.

Unlucky, I got a refund with no resistance at all. The rep was agreeing with me. I would keep trying. They did say you could only get 1 refund on a digital title so I have switched to physical.
