Kid share plays Destiny to stranger...

Wouldn't be surprised if this 38 yo guy is going to be getting his PSN mgs inbox spammed.

Actually thought about it. Decided to take the high road but I did block him (I'll probably never encounter him but you know, just in case I forget his PSN and encounter him one day. I'm not good with names). He's the second person to be blocked by me in the few years I actually registered with PSN (after getting a PS3 late in its cycle). I don't think he cares about me blocking him even if he saw it happen, I just did it to have one less asshole I'll probably have to deal with on PSN.

Admittedly, I'd probably laugh if his inbox did get spammed.

Personally though, I really think what should happen to him is getting banned from PSN. Spamming his inbox just seems annoying and not really something that will teach him and others not to do it (in fact since he's a troll he might just find that amusing) and most other forms of internet justice I don't think I'd approve period (I don't think doxxing is a good thing regardless save maybe animal abusers or something that was that serious. I just don't think it's a good idea to encourage physical violence against the person. And while some people may think it just means people sending unasked for pizzas to him, you never know what psycho will take that as a "go hurt this person" cue. And as much as I think this guy is a dick... I think that is as disproportionate response, probably more disproportionate, than some people's response on here that the kid deserved it for wanting to glitch).

He handled that surprisingly well when he joined the party again.

Yeah, I was surprised by that! But I guess he thought only his weapon was dismantled, bet his heart fucking sunk when he got to the character select screen to see the real damage. I was expecting the crying to intensify!

Well he was smart enough to know that the troll would only be amused by his pain so act like you don't care. But, sadly, since that's on youtube and he cried afterwards, the troll probably got the satisfaction anyways (especially as this has gone around gaming forums now).

Some of you guys are saying no sympathy, but no glitching or cheating EVER took place.

Secondly, I doubt any of you looked on Reddit, the guy apparently had some really rude comments, and lord forbid you look at his post history...
Have you got quotes and links to what you're referring to exactly?

There should be a warning when share play is enabled about shit like this. Can't believe some of you guys are saying this kid deserved it.

I don't think they should do either. It's not their responsibility.

How not? There's no warnings, hell the kid didn't even know how to activate share play until the guy told him.

You have to do the digging yourself...

as a father of a gamer-

One big point people are missing. This could have been much much worse.

Here we have an 11yr old online with a stranger giving them access to control his PS3.

imagine if this was on a family computer. Or worse.. The guy talked the kid into meeting him IRL.

again, this could have been much worse and actually tragic.

The loss of a videogame save is IMO the safest way this kid could learn a lesson.

It is also a wake up call to his parents.

Trying to find the silver lining here.

The 38yr old still needs a smackdown.

Letting a stranger play a game for you isn't anywhere close to meeting a stranger IRL and what hell is this for kind of wake up call to his parents? They won't let him play with strangers anymore or something?

Yes, great, he has now learned the lesson to not trust any strangers anymore, amazing. Because everyone learns everything after one lesson. Having a guy deleting his save files will definitely make sure this kid will never get himself harmed anymore by a stranger for sure.

Gameinformer has an update for it

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/...s-a-harsh-lesson-in-using-ps4-share-play.aspx

Update: The young gamer pictured in the heartbreaking video below is named Henry, a fifth-grade Destiny fan whose progress was wiped out by a stranger on the internet. He and his mother reached out to us to share some thoughts about the experience.

Henry's mother tells us that one of the members of the young man's clan invited KirmitTHEfrog and another person into a party. They played together for a while, and it was after earning his trust on February 13, that the events of the video below unfolded.

"As you can see in the video, Henry was devastated, so since the piece was recorded, I uploaded it to my YouTube account since it’s the adult account associated with his PS4 account – Henry is in 5th grade," his mother, Courtney Kramer tells us. "The only reason I uploaded it to YouTube was to have a place to host it so I could share the link with the Bungie Help forum in the hopes they would review and restore his characters. We never expected anyone but Bungie to see it. Then Bungie posted it to their weekly newsletter on Wednesday, and the Internet exploded."

Unfortunately, Henry has suffered a backlash for his naiveté, drawing insults. His mother has been accused of being a bad parent for allowing him to play.

Thankfully, members of the community have stepped up to offer support. The Dads of Destiny clan has reached out to Bungie to request assistance for Henry. Others have stepped in to help him level faster.

"Hay (sic) guys my name is actually Henry, I am currently 11 years old and just got a ps4 for Christmas I legitamitly (sic) ranked up my warlock to level 31, some of you are haters but some of you are supporting me, I accept both," Henry wrote in a comment posted to the video below. i indeed was trying to cheat but he convinced me into doing it right before the video started, he currently has a YouTube and does this everyday... I accept the fact that I got 'rekt' not so many people are supporting me so I kind of feel discouraged do (sic) can you please leave out the hurtful comments I tried to cheat yea I deserve it, but it doesn't mean you have to say mean things about me... Thank you for your time."

As you can see at the end of the video, Henry boldly confronts his malefactors immediately after the incident. He doesn't resort to foul language. He treats them with civility. His mother tells us that this is a valuable lesson for Henry and others.

"I think this is a great opportunity to reiterate to the gaming community about the importance of not trusting anyone online, even if you think they are your friends," Kramer says. "Protect your hard work by being cautious. As Henry’s parents, we are constantly reminding him of this, to be careful, never share your personal information, always be on the lookout. But the truth is, no matter how many times a parent says this to a kid, when you’re in the actual situation, it’s easier to trust people you think are your friends because someone you actually know in real life vouches for them."

On a personal note, as the father of a ten-year-old and a six-year-old (who absolutely loves watching me play Destiny), I hope that those who would consider reaching out to insult Henry and his family reconsider. We didn't share this video to ridicule, but to show the potential dangers of using Share Play with strangers.

Hopefully, Bungie is able to make an exception and assist Henry. And for those who might be interested in helping him recover his progress through play, his PSN ID is in the video below.

Nah. If you're getting your rocks off bullying kids a quarter your age you deserve to be shat on.

I'm not a big fan of chopping someone's hand off because they stole an apple. The guy is obviously an asshole but instead of revoking all of his digital licences, perhaps permanently banning him from Destiny and its sequels would be a more just consequence.

If I invite someone into my house, even if it was to discuss nefarious activities, and they start destroying my property, I could have them arrested. There was a clear violation here, and if were Sony I would ban the perp's account and console. If they don't, it looks bad for SharePlay.

Also, Bungie should restore the kid's account back to a previous state. You know they can do it, even if they claim they can't. Justice should prevail, the documentation and proof were recorded.

No but you can bet he won't ever willing give a stranger control over his game system/computer ever again. It really sucks what happened to him but this is a lesson that will stick with him for a very long time. It could of been worse as others said could of given control over the families personal computer and the person getting personal or banking information. Maybe this going viral will be a lesson to other kids about trusting strangers with your console/pc/online accounts.

I think everyone's tried to glitch in destiny at least once.

Yep :(. Kid is only 11.

He's not even old enough to play the game lets be honest okay. I have kids as a matter of fact I have an 11yr old son and one who is 12 and BOTH know well enough to not do stupid shit like this. Sure the guy who did it was a dick outright and I'm not defending it but if the kids parents were worth a shit they could've taught this young man not to do something like this for among other things this exact reason. Sony isn't to blame because there are safeguards in place for children on PSN if his parents cared enough to set his account up properly. Bungie isn't to blame here either and kids will be kids and without proper guidance harsh lessons such as these are learned the hard way and ultimately the blame is the kids parents because this never should've been allowed to happen in the first place.

So does that mean the person who trashed his account doesn't get punished? Nope, that isn't how it works.

If Sony/Bungie is to punish the guy who trashed his account with a ban, it would only be fair if the kid earns a ban as well for attempting to cheat the system.

Can't have one without the other.

Pretty sure when enabling SharePlay in the video, the kid gets a message on screen about how it's his responsibility for anything that happens next, and he quickly just skips over it?

Personally I don't think Bungie should do anything.

as if that's ever stopped you or any other person here from playing or watching something that's not for their recommended ages.

1. Destiny is ripe with exploits
2. The kid didn't set out to exploit, he was manipulated by the troll to try it.
3. Are you so craven you can't discern the difference between the victim and the attacker? The troll did this before, to a person who wasn't trying to glitch.

Oh well, we certainly lowered that bar haven't we? From now he won't step into some strangers car outside into, well at least he won't let some guy take control over his computer or game system.

And in the case of a game system this is about as bad as it gets anyway.

Yes he could have given control over the family computer. But it wouldn't make any sense because the risks are way higher for that than giving some guy control over your game. Also it is a feature that is much less obvious.

This is not some valuable life lesson, if anything he'll probably distrust strangers on the internet now, which yes, prevents things like this from happening again, but also sounds like a negative thing to me.

That's not a credible defense to my point sorry. The fact IS he's not even supposed to be playing Destiny and well here's a real reason why. He was trying to cheat and ran into someone smarter than him and this happened that's the lesson learned here. Along with him not having parents who apparently give a shit about what he does online. If this were my kid and since I do have two kids 11 and 12 I can speak from experience I wouldn't be defending them and I would explain that when you cheat nothing positive comes of it. I've had this conversation with both my sons and I'm saying if the kid in question had some parental guidance this probably wouldn't have happened.

So is BuzzGoku the same guy as Kermit? Man...I hope Anon or 4chan brings justice to this piece of shit.
Wow, this angers me quite a bit more. What a worthless piece of shit that guy is. Seriously hope he has to answer for his behavior as it's clear from his post history that he is not a person worthy of respect.

Lan Dong Mik

And why would I want them?

Right on. Henry seems like a good kid and showed maturity beyond his years when he went back into the chat room and didn't cuss or scream at them, but handled it calm and cool. Had that been me I would have been throwing a fucking fit of epic proportions. I hope Bungie hooks the kid up. This Kermit guy needs to be taught a fucking lesson though. Sick fuck.

Yes, the troll put the idea in his head that the glitch was there in the first place.
The troll builds your trust by being friendly, then manipulates you into shareplaying with him. Along the lines of "hey wanna see this glitch? Or let Me try to use your ghorn your character looks so pretty, I've never used a ghorn before!"

So our proof is a one-sided conversation?

Yeah, I can't go along with that. It's inconclusive.
But there is enough proof for you to condemn the kid and equivocate a ban like the troll?
I'm certain buzzgoku's perspective would totally change your mind. Lol
