Based Kendrick. Well deserved.

350-375k is the number being thrown around, but considering the fact that the record went on sale a week early on digital (and then was taken down temporarily on iTunes) and has had a staggered launch for the physical, his numbers being slightly lower (relatively speaking, 375k in 2015 is a huge first week in rap) was to be expected. He's going to have a giant second week number though. I expect platinum by the end of April.

His Spotify numbers are ginorminous too, so he has that going for him. As of yesterday, 11 of the 16 tracks were still in the Spotify Top 50.

97 goddamn, congrats K.Dot!

quick edit: and to think the album was supposed to come out today :lol Thank the lord for Interscope's screwup \o/

At some point the RIAA is going to have to create a certification standard for streaming.

I hope that happens this year.

To be fair to Cole, he's about to go platinum with a CD that got 3 weeks of promo and has zero rap features.

That's a MAJOR accomplishment.

But yeah, no one in the new school is seeing Drake on the sales tip. Hell, the only guy who outsold him first week since Nothing Was The Same without cheating (looking at Jay-Z) was Marshall.

And I think Kendrick's solidified himself as the musical Leader of the New School with TPAB.

Damn!!! So this means it should have surpassed Stankonia as the all-time best reviewed rap album. Annnnnd its overall ranking will have gone up from #8 as well! Wow. Man, again, I'm so happy for him.

EDIT: Yep #2 best reviewed album on Metacritic lolol. Yall this is crazy.

man the numbers would've been much better if they didn't botch the whole release.

Absolutely nothing ended up happening on March 23rd lol
In the end it wasn't even that fucked up.

Album ended up getting 7 days of tracking on sales instead of 6.

Only thing fucked up is that the physicals were only on sale for 3 days first week.

By April? That'd be pretty crazy given the circumstances and genre of music he's in.

GKMC had great legs, so I wouldn't count out TPAB, especially with all the massive critical acclaim

I been lookin for you my whole life, an appetite
For the feeling I can barely describe, where you reside?
Is it in a woman, is it in money, or mankind?
Tell me something think I'm losing my mind, AH!
I say where you at, from the front to the back
I'm lookin' for you I react, only when you react
Ah, I thought I found you, back in the ghetto
When I was seventeen with the .38 special
Maybe you're in a dollar bill, maybe you're not real
Maybe only the wealthy get to know how you feel
Maybe I'm paranoid, ha, maybe I don't need you anyway
Don't lie to me I'm suicidal anyway
I can be your advocate
I can preach for you if you tell me what the matter is

y u do dis Kang Kendrick?

I need to rectify my love of the album with a cd purchase. I was planning on vinyl, but someone told me vinyl shipments for lots of records were delayed due to shortages. I'll double dip for sure, this is going to be a banger car album for me on long drives

God damn. Between this album and Sufjan I might become suicidal

Is this real life?

If he truly hasn't heard of Kendrick before today, Overly Dedicated would be a great place to start.

Track his progression from there through the three LPs. He sounds like a totally different dude in 2015 compared to where he was then.

EDIT:Or he's talking about The Blacker The Berry as indicated above.

y didn't he let it finish ;_;

That's honestly very interesting w/ the correlation, especially since both albums has jazz elements. I'd probably check out Ten Freedom Summers but that userscore isn't very convincing.

It's very good if you are a jazz enthusiast. Extremely ambitious project, produced over 34 years and recorded in 2011. It's a history lesson for Jazz essentially, but if you aren't a big fan of Jazz, then it will probably be a tough listen, lot of free jazz, and tracks to represent social themes. Extremely important musical project though.

I think the user scores might just be troll scores, I doubt the majority have listened to a 4 Disc Jazz epic. Probably just backlash at the high scores.

I love how K.Dot's tied with Deftones's White Pony and Diamond Eyes (and some others) in the all-time highest user scores. Some of my favorite albums right there!
