Yeah, that gate that's locked to the left of the second spawn point can be opened from the other side when you get close to the boss. I forget exactly how you get there though.

When you go down the path and go down the first set of stairs- go left.

Probably old news, but the Headset Companion App for PS4 updated again and now has audio profiles for the Bloodborne & The Order 1886. They also seem to work with the older Pulse Elite headset which wasn't the case last night.

I need tips for the
Cleric Beast. I'm having trouble, mostly because of the camera, but also because I suck right now.

1. unlock cam because the lock on will get you killed

2. dodge twice

3. you can cheese like half his hp with molotovs

4. if you did Manus in DkS1 it's basically a gimped version of it - just punish after each whiff, and have patience.

Shoot him in the face a few times, he'll go down rip out an eye. Do some regular damage for abit then shoot him in a face again until he goes down, rip his other eye out. He's now blind

Duuuuude I don't think we even played the same game, haha.... My experience was more chop at his ankle until a huge blood splatter sprays you, get killled, repeat, repeat, eventually win. Eyes being ripped out!!?

I wrote a forum about this but now entering hour two with no health portions and i keep spawning in the same area with no drops and I keep getting killed all the time. I don't get the combat system to much and now i'm this game more annoying then fun or challenging. What should I do? I feel like I might return it.

I posted this in the thread you made (you should have posted here instead): The Beginner's Guide to Bloodborne. This explains the menus and basic mechanics, and offers combat tips as well.

As for my advice, just take things slowly and be patient. Don't run at full speed all the time. If you see a group of enemies ahead, don't run up and start attacking. You always want to fight one on one if possible. Throw a pebble at one enemy. It will split off the group and come at you. Watch the enemy's attack pattern, and attack when you have an opening. Don't just mash R1; each attack has an animation it must complete before the next attack can come out. When locked onto an enemy, you can dodge with circle plus a direction on the left stick. Remember, you have healing items (press triangle). And use your gun; shooting an enemy in mid attack staggers it. In this staggered state, you can use R1 to unleash a powerful counterattack.

Practice fighting the early enemies and earn blood echoes. Use the blood echoes to level up in Hunter's Dream (you need at least one Insight to be able to talk to the Doll and level up). You can get an Insight by encountering the first boss (don't have to beat it).

Really fun game, but the fact that I got to grind up blood vials for every time I lose a boss fight :/

Oh well, all apart of gitting gud. Time to get back to that DeS mentality.

Options -> Arms

Menu is oddly less refined than Dark Souls imo.

Yeah tell me about it, I really miss the DS2 interface actually, how your character stands in that position and you can see the gear as you equip it without exiting the menu every time.

Restart. Maybe try a different weapon.

But if you're in the very first area you didn't lose any time and on your now informed run you get way more items than on your several hours in repeat run.

The double-punishment mechanic in this game is pretty mean.

Had put the game down. I have 2 essays due tomorrow, one is like 80% done. Going to wake up early with an outline to do the other. Sigh, senioritis from having a job lined up. Probably won't get a good long gaming session until Thursday night or Friday morning.

That might be even easier, cause I died so many times trying to figure out how that gun mechanic worked on him. Though
once he's blind he's so easy

Just a quick bug I found regarding the doll and leveling up in the beginning.

I acquired 2 insight from skulls before I got to the first boss and I used them inside the hunter's dream hub world. The doll didn't come to life, I had to exit and enter again right after and then she awakens.

It's a pretty specific occurrence but might as well post it just in case.

Yep, definitely don't remember having this much trouble with the Souls games. Also decided to run around randomly after the cleric beast destroyed me a couple of times more, and I found the second boss lol. Needless to say, I died really fast. I went into the Souls games with the mindset that I'll probably never finish these games, and I'm doing the same with BB. I'm gonna get dozens of hours of enjoyment out of it anyway, doesn't matter that much if I never beat the final boss.

I'm a Souls veteran and I found the area up to and including the first boss to be a pretty solid difficulty level. People new to the series must be getting wrecked.

Thanks. I got
one eye out before he killed me. I'm hoping I can get him on the next one.

So, I hear you
can't level up until beating the first boss?

Not until encountering it, but if you made it out without killing it, that probably means you died and lost all your blood anyway... Technically you can use the Hunter's Mark to get out of there, but that's kind of pussyfooting at that point, I mean c'mon just kill the thing.

Yeah, that gate that's locked to the left of the second spawn point can be opened from the other side when you get close to the boss. I forget exactly how you get there though.

There's a point just before that circular area where you can drop down (its obscured by barrels or something) and go in that direction, or you can access the top of the house from the bridge.

It would have been cool if the game had a mechanic to where when I cap out on blood vials I could save them somewhere. I understand the choice of only holding 20, but being able to store them somewhere and get them back when I die would make this so much better.

Spoiler for how to beat cleric beast:
Keep distance and shoot in the head. After 5 or 6 (can't remember exactly) shots it should drop to its knees then you want to do the powerful follow up attack. There are more bullets in the area so you want to pick these up, it has been a while since I have played it (alpha) but they are either just hanging about or you have to get cleric beast to smash the carriages. When you have more bullets repeat. You should run out, then you can either use Molotov's to finish it off or get in and out between attack patterns depending on your play style.

It's getting a bit tougher after the beginning area, and it's forcing me to focus more. IM loving it, but I have to take a break or I'm going to end up losing a lot of blood echoed.

Question: I beat the first two bosses, and am now onto
vicar werewolf lady
and
stank beast
, both of which have killed me a couple of times. From a progression point, which one should I be taking on?

Question 2: There are three weapons I'm interested in; the
katana
,
great sword
, and
scythe
. Could I get a quick hint about how close I am to at least one of them? The canes fun and all, but it's lack of power even at +3 is starting to wear on me.

The regain system should be fully utilized, aggression means a lot. If you continue attacking you'll come out with the same health you went in with. I'd say its similar to Ninja Gaiden where you can basically refill your health bar without ever using items cause of blue orbs(but obviously Bloodborne isnt anywhere near as lenient as Ninja Gaiden 1/Black or 2 for that matter)

They get sent to storage automatically when you have 20 and find more. It does the same for ammo.

I took down Father G after five tries, eventually (strategy spoiler)
I used the music box 3 times in phase one by keeping tombstones between us while activating it. As soon as he began to glow for phase II I ran up the stairs at the back of the area. The tombstones become a liability. The balcony provided a long, relatively unobstructed arena to dodge around his attack strings and get hits in on his recovery. The music box can be used one more time while he's in beast form for about 4 free hits.

Almost exactly what I did except
I parried exclusively in the final stage on the balcony. Took about 4 parry attacks I think with the axe.

Yeah it's a challenge just knowing when to use blood vials and when not to. Certainly when fighting a boss for the first time it might be wise to use only one or two because your chances of winning are on the low side, and you don't want to cripple yourself for further attempts when using vials may be the difference between victory and defeat.

I prefer the Estus flask, but still... I dunno maybe I'll come aroud to blood vials. Going back to the Estus seems almost too easy at this point.

Can't watch any of my normal streamers. All playing bloodborne and past me.

I was going to stream it, then I realized every top streamer is streaming it right now and I'd be like the 3,000th person on the bottom streaming cause I'm a nobody and deemed it pointless. lol
