Not to happy with the cane either. Its damage was painfully low against the CB. I won't upgrade it anymore and just switch to whatever skill weapon i find next.
To be fair, every weapon has pitifully low damage against the CB, axe included. From was obviously expecting people to use critical attacks against him.

With this I learned that contrary to other Souls games, a Double KO isn't automatically your loss! My blood echoes were waiting for me in the boss room and I got the item correctly before the end of the death screen.

I like this change.

They actually did this? Shocking.

Worked perfectly thank you. So I take it cheesing is a viable and valid way to defeat enemies in these games. I would normally frown on this but fuck, this game is hurting my feelings how hard it is.

Don't worry. I beat three bosses, went back and still got wrecked by those dudes as I was trying to get some vials.

Ugh, Cleric Beast is a pain in the ass. Should I lock on or not? He keeps doing a huge leap and hits me three times with powerful attacks. Doesn't seem dodgeable. I shoot him in the face twice and whack him a couple times after that but then my bullets seems to do nothing after that point.

So four bosses down and
the price for everything in the store is higher
?!?

Is this permanent? Is there something I can do about it? Please don't tell me what If so.

I think it is tied to your level.

What level were you after beating the 4th boss? I'm struggling and feel underpowered

I like how the cane feels in terms of animations and the range is quite nice, but I don't know how the damage feels compared to other weapons. I might wait before upgrading anything and try out other weapons as I find/buy them.

Estus, if only because I didn't ever accidentally use them all up because I kept thinking triangle was the two-hand grip button. That and Blood vials are just a matter of farming to keep a constant supply and Estus was a hard limit that didn't require grinding to maintain.

Hm good point about farming.

Try getting in real close and strafe around to backside. If you get hit, regen health by attacking.

Yeah the cane is annoying. In whip form it has barely any impact and attacks slow, in cane form it's mediocre.

What? The whip is amazing for handling groups. My only complaint with it is that if you attack after a dodge you do a stupid heavy attack.

Motherfucker. MOTHERFUCKER. I had the cleric beast down to 20% health and was about to finish it when he just jumped, slammed down on me even though I dodged, and took all my health.

One more time. I've gotta get it this time.

I stuck by the side of his smaller arm and locked on to his lower half. As with all Souls game, you gotta let go of the lock-on sometimes. I spammed roll when he did his jump attacks and I managed to bring him down. Gotta abuse the regain mechanic.

Trying to use a Beckoning Bell for the fourth boss but it has yet to match me with anyone after like 10 minutes. It's launch day, i feel like this shouldn't be a problem. Anyone having any luck with this?

It also has decent range(especially with the heavy), but I find the normal cane form a safer way to handle big groups because it actually has a reasonable amount of impact and attack speed.

Found my way into
Old Yharnam
with around 14k echoes and decided to make my way to
gatling gun man
, only to get destroyed by him and some other hunter looking NPC. Now I have to venture back in order to try and retrieve my echoes. Oh boy.

But on the side, I want to ask again. Where do I go after defeating Father G.? Am I in the right place?

I was probably level 35 or so? I dunno. I went to the fourth boss after exhausting seemingly every possible other place I could go, and then I killed it on the first try. I also think my grueling experience against the third boss (easily 15-20 attempts) properly trained me to fight this one with ease.

where is Alfred/the password?

also did anyone buy the "bolt resistence" set for the
Prison boss? DARKPEERL or whatever.
I wonder if it's worth 6 points of Insight.

The cane is all show and no damage. Luckily I just unlocked the axe at the vendor.

Hmm interesting. I just switched from axe to cane to try it out and I'm loving it. So fast.

Axe was good too though.

I think I skipped the first boss and ended up trying to fight the second boss first......it was Father something

Yea, you're in the right place.

I also hate how the whip bangs off walls and stuns you. And in an area with a lot of tight corridors, its pretty bad, even if the cane's moveset is decent.

I am however liking the saw spear.

Got to the Cleric and took him to 33% health before dying.
Seems weak to fire but I only had one Molotov. Time to farm for for Molotovs.

So crazy how I get stuck for a day in same loop and then on my first try after work I kill the first two bosses on the same life. Walked away with 11,000 souls. Like what the fuck?

Does anyone have any tips for a From Software noob? I spent one hour on the second area, central something, and I didn't get anywhere. Furthest I got was to the bonfire and I get slaughtered by everyone.

Any tip would be great. I am lost.

yeah so I've played and completed Demon's Souls, Dark Souls and Dark Souls II... I can't play this fucking game until they fix these load times. my god. PAINFUL.

So I've been playing a good deal of it. I am very new to this series, only dabbled a bit with 2. I'm making good progress, managed to get the boss down to near dead on my second try, which is cool. Doing lots and lots of exploring. But I have encountered an issue. I'm stuck. I've reloaded and this is where I am. I was able to walk in and cannot walk out, is there a way to warp back to base?
