Anybody else having trouble finding people to co-op with? I am using no password, I am level 30 and I am standing outside of a particular ruined cathedral offering up my services, with no takers.

I'm literally right there trying to summon someone.

I'm trying with the GAF password now on Worldwide as I was set to local.

You need to equip them in your attire slots rather than try and use them from the inventory menu, which is what I think you're doing.

No level requirement. You don't "use" them you just hit the D pad down to where it shows your armor on the first menu and select the piece you want to replace and it'll bring up the pieces in your inventory.

And to think I had explained to someone earlier about putting weapons in the slots on the menu. I remember those equipment slots now that you guys mention it. Thank you.

Uh...wow, something very weird just happened.

In the graveyard with the tall, pale enemies with staffs I picked up a Top Hat and Hunter garb... and then
was lifted into the air by some invisible enemy or a nebulous void, almost killed and given frenzy then was teleported back down

The fuck was that?

Third boss related stuff: Is
Amelia or BSB
the third boss? I just fought the first one and beat her on my first try but I guess she's optional? If she isn't the third boss then where can I find
BSB

BSB is the third for me, at the end of the Cathedral area. Where is the one you are talking about?

Makes you feel better I must have fought him 40 times with the cleaver before I got him. 3rd try with the whip.

Holy shit. 8 tries and I almost threw my controller at a wall, can't even imagine 40.

How is the cleaver by the way. I started with cane and I'm in love with it but I know it's either you love it or hate it.

Haha i have seen this on Reddit

Will someone make a Lore thread once more people have beat the game? I'm looking forward to discussing the lore for the game (although, in typical Souls fashion, I don't have any idea what's going on yet).

So my friend is total noob and I'm trying to help him. He hasn't killed the first boss but has the reckoning bell. We are at the same latern and he used it, and I used the small resonant bell. We couldn't connect to each other even with the same password. Are we doing something wrong?

Anyone?

Same here. I have no idea what the hell that was. Stopped playing shortly after but that freaked me out.

Does Cthulhu ring a bell? Trust me, you don't want to see what picked you up there...

Almost off my graveyard shift, wish I could play when I got home but alas I work tonight again, need my beauty sleep. I'll probably boot it up just to see the intro or something.

If I was off work tonight I would stay up this morning easily, although I'm not sure how sleep deprivation would help my first Bloodborne experience

Found out how to unlock (weapon)
Ludwigs Holy Blade
=)

That cost though.

Also is it just me or does this game have a disproportionate amount of str weapons vs skill weapons, especially since the emphasis is on speed.

Can't stress enough to the people having trouble with the first two bosses. Molotov cocktails are amazing and will make both fights infinitely easier. Just make sure you time the throws right and you'll have that rush of happiness go over you as you see the message of you killing the boss.

Can't stress this advice enough, I went through my entire stock for the first fight; thankfully I beat him on my first try (used all 20 vials for it, yes I suck) because I wouldn't have know what to do if I had to fight him empty handed; you do crap for damage since you had to fight him without leveling up the first time.

Second boss was pretty straightforward if you've been practicing stunlocks up till that point, which is the key to an early end to the fight. Didn't even have any molotovs or even the
music box trick
, but generally was an easier fight than Cleric Beast. Incredulously managed to best him on my first try, but I went through almost my whole vial stock again.

Using the oil urn with Molotovs also more than doubles the damage that you can do to a boss, so I'd recommend that to people having trouble.

Inside of the Cathedral? She's at the top of the steps after the guys with the wooden crosses. Is BSB after an area where there are two
hunters
and in a room with like a glowing pot in the middle? I went to that area and fought those two but I had a lot of souls and didn't want to lose them so I ported back to the dream to spend. If BSB is there then I know where to find it.

Started with cane. Couldn't beat first boss. Switched to cleaver. Whooped boss ass. Get it to +1. Whoop everythings ass. Get to second boss. Defeat it on third try.

BSB is
after a graveyard like area filled with werewolves moving around on four legs.

Will try and find the other boss.

Played 3 hours, died so much at the first group of enemies around the fire pyre lol, then got the hang of it (played mage in demon/dark souls, so no experience with physical combat in these games) made pretty good progress and got to Father G.

I love the hammer part of the kickhammer, feels so good to hulk smash after dodges.

I'm actually surprised at some of the player friendly stuff in here like items that let you keep your souls when you die and enemies dropping HP replenish items like crazy and being able to hold 20 of them. I didn't play DS2, but this stuff definitely seems to make it more mainstream friendly once you get the hang of it.

One question I have is:

What's the point of the area where the first boss is? Like after you beat the boss it's a dead end. What did beating the boss unlock? I ended up just going elsewhere and eventually made my way to the 2nd boss.

Oh and is everyone's copy bugged in that you can't see ghost deaths? I click on the grave markers/blood and the grave rises but nothing happens and I'm assuming I'm supposed to do a ghost reinactment of a player's death like DS, right? Occasionally I see while live ghost players run by, but the death replays don't seem to be working.

I made it to the tower with the
Gatling gun
. Died fighting that guy up there. He sure doesn't let you have a chance to heal, lol. Going to suck getting back there. I wonder if I missed a shortcut opportunity or a new lamp.

I just beat Father G. Here is how I did it:

Run to the other side at the start, because the opening is not a good place to be. Find the area with two circles of graves. Use those for cover from his gunshots. I used the Hunter Axe, so I don't know what other weapons can do.

Wait for him to attack. Memorize his attack patterns between the two weapon stances. Right as an attack ends, hit forward and R2 to do a leaping slash while in 2H stance. This has massive range and stuns. R1 after that for a second free hit. Then dash backward. Rinse and repeat. You will take some gunshots, and you just need to accept it and heal through them. I never died on form 1.

Form 2 is much more difficult. If you can parry, great, but I suck at partying. Instead, side step a LOT. Sometimes you need to sidestep through 3-4 attacks in a row. Then get a swing or two in. Because he is fast and his health is low, your instinct is to rush him down. Resist that urge and play it smart. Sidestep, hit, etc. Don't overdo it on attacks, you can't lock him down with stuns.

It took me four tries to beat him, and all three deaths were trying to figure out form 2. If you get hit by form 2, you are almost certainly screwed too much to heal. He just moves too fast. I did get two heals off, but it almost got me killed even trying.

I beat him my second try.
First time I died almost immediately, because I had no idea how aggressive he was. I've gotten pretty good at parrying and so I did the special R1 attack on him 2-3 times for lots of damage. I also tossed an oil on him and lit him up with a torch once. What's really annoying about that fight is trying to dodge with all the tombstones in the way.

Why is everyone killing themselves in the Hunter's Dream?
There's like red blood marks everywhere.

I remember Dark Souls II had bloodstains all over the place in Majula when I first played it. Many weren't even near the cliff edges.

So it's been a while and I had forgotten to go back and report to the little girl. So I did and I messed up. I was trying to back out because I didn't want to make a decision.
So apparently I didn't give her the broach and then I told her to go to the Graveyard where Gascoigne was. I went there and a hunter attacked me, there was another hunter that helped me kill him. Seems she might be the PVP NPC as she says "keep your hands clean, leave the hunting of other hunters to me." Anyway the little girl isn't here, where did she go?

Here we go, the 8 hour struggle without BB is happening.

Be strong... be strong.

Beating Cleric Beast unlocks the Hammer in the shop.

If you got the shotgun, just shoot the fucker right off the edge. If you can get up to the top fast enough he will still be standing pretty close to it. Only downside is depending on how / where he falls you might not be able to pick up the item he drops. I got lucky and he landed just on a railing down below but the object still was floating off the edge. A bit more and most def would not have been able to regain it.

The closest warp point I believe is the start of the area? I think...

Calling it quits for the night. Got 3 bosses down Well 4 if you count
that Gatling gun guy
. I went ahead and bought
hunter chief emblem
being I think i'll need that to advance. Still not super sure where to go now but i'm sure i'll find my way

Is that supposed to look like what it looks like, or is that just an unfortunate combination of animation and angle?

Don't mean to brag, but Cleric Beast went down in two tries
and eight Molotovs, and twelve Blood Vials.
I picked the whip at the intro and was planning on doing a dexterity build, but the weapon you get for beating CB is pretty fun to use.

Not really sure where to go from here, which is great. I've been mostly on blackout but the few videos I watched made me worry the game was more linear. It's definitely not as open as the beginning of Dark Souls (although really that only felt more open since there's only one way you can realistically go), but I found my way into a few areas before I found the place where you fight CB.

Awesome game so far.

More importantly, how can you get killed there? D:

You know, I was wondering this. It looks like they were fighting something in the house, but I have no idea what.

Anyway, managed to make a lot of progress today. Took out the first two bosses and now working on the third. That guy's a bastard. I've had a hard time summoning help so far, which is weird because I get summoned quickly when I try it.

WHAT IN THE HELL SOMETHING INVISIBLE JUST PICKED ME UP AND CRUSHED ME AND KILLED ME

lol hilarious how many people are getting caught by that.

I went in full health just to see what would happen if that purple effect touched me.

Was lv 28 at the time so didnt take that much damage but yeah I can most def see how it can kill people :D

Anyone know how to to open the
large gate past the entrance of the Cathedral itself in the Cathedral Lantern area past the tall pale guys?

Did you buy that 10000$ item in the shop?
