17 Str, 14 skill, 8 arcane :0. It scales really well to strength and supposedly arcane when you power it to +4, (B str, B arcane) but I see no differences to my attack when I increase arcane. Can someone explain this to me?
I think arcane only come into affect once you infuse the sword with elements, in which case it start ignoring STR. ie, no point leveling both for the same weapon.

Awesome job the key is to not lock onto him.

Remember guys the lock on can kill you just as easily as the enemy
Yeah once I stopped keeping him locked on and got a better idea of his attack pattern he got easier, helped being a bit leveled up I think 16 as well. He's not a boss you rush in on, especially in the later half. Just wait for him to throw a tantrum, finish attacking and rush in a bit and then retreat. Trying to figure out where else to go now. I got to the point with the troll and the flaming boulder and just decided to stop where there's this cryptic ass church area and took that elevator back up to the Central Yharnam lantern. Parrying is to fucking satisfying too. I parried two of those trolls in a row and was like "get rekt!"

After getting wrek by a dozen times yesterday, killed
Vicar Amelia
today. Rocked her with my Holy Sword and some fire paper. Just had to be calm and don't fumble with the buttons. My heart was racing and my hands are shaking.

it is ABSURD how much worse I am at this game compared to dark souls

Should I use the brooch or return it?

I used it. Apparently there is nothing to gain from giving it back.

You gain a non-combat related item and I was told it's not the end of the quest

Yeah I gave it back. I got a few more right afterwards so I guess not a big deal. I was hoping the quest would continue if I gave it back. Haven't seen a next step yet.

Crap...I'm intrigued.

Why not?

I got ten insight and I bought the PvE and PvP bells so that I can enter other peoples games. Now I have eight insight. And there were video's posted which say that the game gets harder the more insight you have.

See this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cKEM7NuyQw

And see all of these posts:

More insight =
game gets harder

Insight being a difficulty scaling would explain so much about why some people are having these difficult boss fights and others don't. I've watched people with different insight levels fight the same boss and there were whole move sets that would and would not appear.

Anyone have more info on Ludwigs Holy Blade? Stat scaling doesn't seem to be straightforward on it, like other items.

Knowledge is both a blessing and a curse.

More insight =
game gets harder

The more insight you have the harder the game becomes.

Is there any way to improve the ammount of health the blood vials give you?

I am having major problems with running out all the time.

How is the kirkhammer ? is that the hammer in your back and the light attack with the sword ? is the heavy config lets you handle your gun like cleaver/threaded cane ?

I'm lost roaming around the castle, been right up to the top and got the
wig
. Not sure where the boss is.

Make sure you explore the area. You can find I believe two sets of armor and several unique weapons there. To get to the boss, it's after the elevator if you've reached it and involves navigating the rooftops. It's pretty straightforward once you get there. Kinda hard to describe through words.

Is there an in depth guide out there detailing exactly how multiplayer works? Like how summoning mechanics work? Me and my friend were having some issues where it seemed like we had to be standing in the exact same spot to summon but im sure ur supposed to be able to go off an do ur own thing while waiting. Just want to add that it seems to me like summon signs were a much better method at doing this kind of thing, why the change?

Also, is there a way to respec later on in the game like ds2?

How do I get the Holy Blade?

I beat Vicar already, and based on peoples post, i should already be past that part.

The one in Old Yarnham is pretty annoying, I have a particular vendetta against that saw spear toting fuck.

I've had the most trouble with him as well. I baited him to the wooden stairs and and riposted til dead. Occasionally, he would also get caught up in the flames which helped.

So i spent quite a few insight already playing with a friend. I am at the point where I can fight the bsb, but I get wrecked fighting him. I have 6 madmans knowledge and believe I have collected all of them so far. I do not have the resonant bell yet.

So two things.

Why aren't rats dropping madmans knowledge? They seem to only drop throwing knives.

And I read you can buy them, but where and when?

What was the name of the armor set that you should have equipped in order to
become friendly with mr. Gatling Gun?

I was getting ao frustrated with this when I first started. I almost gave up on it. But holy shit am I glad I kept going. Once I figured it out, it's givin me some of the most satifying moments I've had in gaming in recent memory. I'm hooked. I'm thinking of picking up the souls games now.

How do I get into the house
near the lamp in the forbidden woods?
IS this a shortcut that will open up later or can I get in right now?

Oh another thing... If you're two-handing Ludwigs blade, L2 becomes a powerful attack that seems to stun enemies.

Goddammit, these fucking load times! Seriously, they really need to patch that shit. I really do not mind dying. But if they're going to make a game where you constantly die, they should do something about the load times, or make it so there's little to no loading. It's really a game killer and makes me not want to play. I do not remember the Souls games having loading issues like this. Unacceptable!

I thought high insight just made some regular enemies have glowing weapons that caused Frenzy. Does it really make bosses harder?
