Which of the Rune Factory games on DS is the best? I wanted to play the games when they came out, but never did. I want to get the one that's the best.

Pretty sure 2 is considered superior, though I've only played a bit of it, and a year or so of the first.

Rune Factory 2 is quite superior.

They're both structured differently so it's worth it to play both. 2 is the better game though.

I think it's about time I pop RF2 back in my DS, I kinda couldn't figure out who I wanted to marry so I put the game down before actually playing.

Ok, I'll get 2 since it's supposed to be the best. Do the Rune Factory games have a time limit or can you play them forever like some of the older Harvest Moon games?

You can play them forever, but they have a much clearer form of progression. Especially 2.

I bought 2 and I've played it for a few hours. There really isn't much to do yet besides gather plants.

I don't know what it is, but playing that game is giving me a headache.

You can't like... farm? Do favors for the villagers around the town?

The RPG aspect doesn't really flesh out until later in the game.

Yeah, RF 2 doesn't really start until you get married etc. That said, 2 is definitely the superior one. Although, the girls in 2 aren't as fascinating as 1's were. As someone put it, Mana is a poor man's Mist. But on side note, if you got a wii, get Rune Factory Frontier instead :D

Not yet. I got those free seeds from Mana, but I can't afford any other seeds yet. I blew all my money on a sword. :lol

Haha I see.

You can earn money EASILY by completing tasks outlined on the bulletin board in the town. You may have jumped the gun a bit by buying the sword, seeing as how you don't really get the most out of the RPG elements until later in the game.

Does grass not regrow? I had some planted and cut it and it didn't grow back. I had to buy new grass seeds.

Is there any way to upgrade my tools? I'm getting tired of refilling my watering can every 10 seconds.

You probably cut the grass too early and removed the roots instead of just making feed. It becomes a darker shade of green and the rune will appear (as it would with a full 3x3 of other crops)

And assuming you are still in the first half of the game, you'll notice all your base tools can be charged to level 2 (purple) which will do a 3x3 for watering, tilling, cutting, etc. Otherwise plant all your crops in the top rows and recruit a Goblin Pirate for watering help. (Unlike RF 1 the monster aids start in the NW of plot then go across the whole field, down a row, and back across, they don't only do tilled tiles)

I'm surprised how quickly the game is moving. I haven't even finished my first summer yet and I already have 200,000G and can marry Mana if I want to.

I got Dorothy's proposal item now too. I tried asking her to marry me to see her wedding scene and she rejected me. :lol
