Dolphin - Emulating Wii and Gamecube Games

Anyone managed to get Silent HIll Shattered Memories working without audio crackling? Seems tied to framerate and no matter the settings certain scenes bounce around and the audio crackles and drives me nuts.

Is there any way to reduce the stuttering in Metroid Prime for Gamecube? I have dolphin and the ISO both on an SSD, and its just way distracting. The wiki says just to play the game and let it cache the shaders but I'm a good 2 hours in and the stuttering is still happening far too often.

PC specs:

i7 940 @ 3.6ghz
12 GB Ram
SLI GTX 670s
Windows 8.1

Also tried 3 different dev builds, with the latest being from a few days ago.

Tried the 60fps hack on Mario Sunshine yesterday and it ran beautifully. I'm sure it's been discussed elsewhere but is there a way to get the sound to run at regular speed rather than 60fps?

If you want the best experience:
Ishiiruka Dolphin build.
High Res Texture pack
60fps patch offset: 804167B8 value: 3F800000
and right click the game, properties, enable the double video rate hack.

Ishiiruka build with Asynchronous Shade Cacher enabled.

The latest builds have significantly reduced the stuttering with high res textures, almost non existant stutters, people are updating their packs to the new format now.
Twilight princess runs pretty sweet.

Ahhhh I've heard people mention the Ishiiruka builds before. Where do I get them?

I'm having a bit of problem. I'm trying to play Four Sword Adventures and Link keeps moving on his own. This doesn't seem like a damaged controller because it's not happening in steam games at all. The controller seems configured correctly and I've redone it multiple time but Link will just randomly start walking in any direction on his own. Any suggestions?

Try increasing the stick dead zone.

first day using dolphin

been playing mario kart wii and have gotten this error twice that says:

"executable memory doing over 2GB. WriteRest: Op out of Range 0x8e7d001c uses 0x13660c0"

what is this and how do I get rid of it?

The only other reference to this issue I could find is this bug report. Try the PR build that's listed in there (https://dl.dolphin-emu.org/prs/pr-2184-dolphin-latest-x64.7z) and see if it fixes the issue. If not I would file a new issue so the developers can be notified.

Looking back through old images, this is like - crazy impressive for a Wii game.

Also this is ridiculous. BBK had some great screenshots.

never heard of this game, looks beautiful, is the game as good as it looks or what?

Its not quite as it good as it looks.

But honestly, thats probably because it looks pretty freaking amazing.

The combat is pretty much a fall through, and the story is very... Japanese, but I wouldnt say in a horrible way or anything.

Its definately enjoyable, but certain aspects, like the visual art design, greatly outshine other aspects, like the gameplay.

I wish I could get Wii games running better on Dolphin. I tried SMG and it ran like ass. The games look fantastic though.

Any ways to play F-Zero GX without the massive slowdown in the Sand Ocean level?

Edit: Never mind, turning on "Skip EFB Access from CPU" kind of fixed the issue.

So i keep getting Write Errors when using Clean Rip.
Using a USB, trying basically every version to see if it changes.
This was with SMG and LOZ:TP. Anybody have a fix to the issue?

Lol so I hadn't built a new revision in a year and a half so I pulled the updates from the git and built it. However it was still showing version 4.0.720 dirty ehich was way old. Turns out they moved the git repo but someone has still been commiting changes to the old one as of 9 hours ago. Oops... Now up to date so I guess I should rerun all the tests I did over the last few days.

I am having trouble with the controls in Super Mario Galaxy. I am aware it is not the best game to be played with a regular controller, but that is how I want to play it this time. It is working fine for the most part, except I can't shoot the crystal thingies on the lumas. I aim at them with the right stick and press the button, but the crystal are always shot to different (set) location regardless of where I aim. Here is my controller setup:
Here is where I can't progress because of the issue:

You have both B and 2 on the left trigger. That may be the issue.

Don't know if anyone could help me with this, but im at a loss as how to fix this. I just got my wii u pro controller working on my pc. Works great in everything I try but dolphin. When I start the emu. my pc blue screens and restarts. Worked fine before I installed the drivers and programs for the controller. Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks to the latest build it looks like I can run Xenoblade Chronicles as perfectly as I could on the Wii, so I was wondering if I could get any suggestions on how to make the game look as gorgeous as possible. I have the fullscreen resolution set at max as well as the internal resolution (4x native 2560x2112), but if there are other settings that can make it look even better I would love to know about them. And yes I've downloaded the HD texture and controller packs.

Also I have a few questions:

1. When I hit ESC to exit Dolphin, the program just freezes. I have to CTRL+ALT+DEL to shut off Dolphin. Any way to fix this?

2. When I run the game, I have to wait about a minute or two from the "reading disc" screen upon boot up. Any way to speed this up?

3. Once in a while I'll get a very slight audio stutter in the game. It's negligible but if there's a way to fix that as well I'd like to know about it.

4. Also the screenshots when saving a game are static messes. Pretty sure there's a fix for that but might as well ask here too.

5. Lastly, is there a setting in Dolphin to automatically hide mouse cursors?

I'm running 6x IR and the maximum MSAA, looks pretty great with the HD texture pack. As for the rest:

1) I think ctrl or al enter exits you out of the window. From there you can close it normally. Or it was the pause button, either way it helps :-P

2) Nope, this is normal. Let's you enjoy thr game without hiccups further in. Something to do with loading the texture pack.

3) That's likely the shader cache building. Happens whenever a new graphical effect is executed for the first time only. Keep in mind that the audio engine isn't perfect either.

4) You can with EFB to ram but it slows down your FPS significantly. Not worth it imho.

5) Should be but I don't know where.

How are you getting 6X? Mine only goes up to 4. Are you using D3D or Open GL (which is more recommended?)

Any other settings I should tick in the Enhancements, Hacks or Advanced tab that may boost performance/quality?

Also, is there a way to set up a game-by-game shortcut so I can launch individual games as Steam shortcuts through Big Picture Mode?

Beyond those questions, the only thing I still haven't figured out is properly closing Dolphin. It still freezes whenever I hit ESC.

Depends on your specs. He should at least give it a shot and see if the framerate hit it acceptable or not. I have no issues with EFB to RAM on my rig, at least when running Xenoblade.

EFB to RAM is a massive performance hit. The only time it's not is if your systems not being stressed at all with it off.

Go to your Dolphin settings map, which is in Documents for me, go to Config -> gfx_opengl and set EFBScale one integer higher than it is. You can do this a few times until you notice a performance hit, then set it back to the best setting you can run. There aren't any good 'hacks' that improve image quality without breaking something for the rest.

The closing may due to something else, I don't have any problem with it. Perhaps a bug in your build?

It doesn't add much though and he better runs higher IR or AA. I'm more willing to have better grass than a picture on my save screen.

Well crap, she was younger than I am... Does anyone know how it happened?

From the other thread:

Tragic as this is, please refrain from openly speculating about the circumstances behind her passing. Unless there are confirmed news reports or information released by the family, we're presuming that it is private information and none of our business.

A horrible loss for the gaming community.
