Man the Pthumerian Descendant boss in the last chalice is a huge dick. I cant seem to consistently parry him, my shots sometimes just pass right through him.

Any tips?

I had also problems parrying him so decided to just dodge and wait for opening to strike once or twice and that worked for me.

Guys are there any enemies that drop chunks? I tried to farm yesterday at the
Unseen Village (skeleton werewolves) and Upper Cathedral (blue-eyed werewolves)
with 172 discovery and mostly got shards and some twin shards.

I'd love to upgrade some weapons at +9 before going into NG+. :(

I use the blue eyed werewolves myself and it is a slow process. 200+ discovery. At least you get some good echoes and it is pretty easy.

Haven't touched this game for a few days now, itching to get back to it but I've backed up all my saves for a hard drive upgrade tomorrow, so I will have to wait until that is done.

Apparently a new patch is out. Patch notes?

Get over 200 discovery (mine is at 229) and you should be getting chunks from the blue eye wolves at least one per every two runs or something.

Any [spoilered] tips on taking on Defiled boss #3? took out the first two today and it was challenging to say the least. coop'd with 2adept.

Phase 1, stay in front, bait the slam attacks, hit the head until you get a visceral. When she rips of her arms, move to the legs, slowly chipping away, beware of the foot stomp, when she jumps, don't move, rinse and repeat

Same tactics as the two bosses before. Don't get greedy and look for openings. Last phase
hug her butt and attack the tail. This should make her only use jumping attack away from you.
It is little slow tactic as that area of the boss has high defense but it is by far the easiest way to deal with the last phase.

Not for Bloodborne yet?

It's an update for the PS4. I also checked Bloodborne and no update for me.

I got an update file, but my feeling is that my game data somehow got fucked up and it's re-downloading the original title update.

Game is currently back to ver. 1.00

Thanks for the tips guys.

Wondering if From will change the drop rate for the chunks in the future, the low drop rates along with not having the option to reset the enemies in the area sounds like a not so fun combination right now. :/

Buy Bold Hunter Masks so you respawn at the lantern and so will the enemies. Load times are shorter too if you do that

Been doing a bunch of depth 5 root chalices with all three offerings. They can be incredibly unfair at times but I'm enjoying it a lot. Some rooms are so ridiculous that they become like a puzzle, how can you possibly clear this? There was one room with a bunch of witches around the room shooting fireballs and then bell maidens up above summoning red spiders that would jump down, just crazy.

The rewards are amazing though, all the best runes like 15% HP, 20% stam, 30% visceral dmg, 100 discovery, etc. And I finally got what I think is a near perfect cursed gem with 27.2% physical and only 3% increased stam usage. The weapons are mostly useless but there are some exceptions, the Lost Chikage has a circle slot like the guns which can fit some very strong blood atk gems, and I imagine the Lost Ludwigs blade would be useful for an arcane build since it only has one radial slot.

When he does a quickstep towards you you can parry him, seems a lot easier than trying to parry his attacks.

I farmed them for quite a while with 320 discovery and got way less than that. Be very careful what you spend your chunks on people.

This may sound stupid but I didn't know that after using a BHM the enemies respawn, that's a game changer.

I'll farm some echoes so I can buy a lot of them and start farming those chunks. :)

Last night I beat Vicar Amelia. I'm getting nervous because I feel I'm due to run into some creatures that are going to fuck up the arachnophobe in me. Do those critter-type creatures show up in one specific location / stage? If I'm going to do this, I'm going to need a heads up on when they're supposed to show up. I also know they're going to show up in the chalice dungeons (I've only cleared the first set of dungeons so far).

Hunt your nightmares.
around a lake, in a dark castle and some of the lower depth chalice dungeons

you have a ways to go before you run in to any s
piders
. there's one big boss battle with them, and then much later in the game, near the end, there's more

Wasn't the update for the 23?

i thought so, but some people in here and in the 2.51 firmware thread said they've gotten updates for this game

Those phys atk up 27.2% gems you got, did you get them from normal enemies or just bosses in each layer? I'm still wrapping up the defilled dungeon, but will definitely start doing some more lvl 5 dungeons with those modifiers soon. Thing is, if they only drop from bosses, that would mean that once I kill a boss that may or may not drop them, won't I have to reset the dungeon and make it once again, thus "wasting" materials? And farming them can be a bit hard some times.. If they drop from regular enemies as well I can keep whatever chalice I've created and just run the dungeon over and over killing strong enemies hoping for a drop.

Was it one you yourself created or you used some shared glyph? Sorry for this barrage of questions but I'm really looking for some good gems (so far only found 3 atk+18%, but since I swap between 2-3 weapons I can't have them all in top shape and it would be amazing to have some more good gems). The best I have so far are a bunch of cursed 19,8% atk but with either beast atk down/kin atk down or straight up hp depletes 9 or weapon durability -51, which sucks for the katana.. Some people claim that farming certain enemies in mergo loft is a good source of cursed gems, but it's a crapshoot most of the time.

Will check up on the thread later since I have to go to work, but thanks in advance and once again, sorry for all these questions man!

I've gotten the firmware and driveclub updates this morning but no Bloodborne. If you've had a Bloodborne update today, check the update history and tell us what it says. The last entry for me is v1.02.

Click options on the Bloodborne tile and then Update History.

So I had Bloodborne on when a storm creeped into town and cut the power to everything. My save is corrupted. Hold me GAF. ;_;

Same thing happened to me yesterday right after I killed
martyr logarius
on my first attempt. Try uploading whatever is saved to your online storage. I lost two bosses that I beat, but I didn't lose everything

I just kept on playing the same way, spamming parries until I got lucky and managed to kill him haha. I didn't like the fight so I didn't really feel like actually preparing a strategy.

Parry spam is the way to go. You can have, like, a 20% parry rate and still win in a lot of hunter and boss battles.

Even cheaper, you can use the Chikage or the wheel to commit suicide in a convenient place (so you can recover your echoes easily) and respawn the enemies.

I'm very close to the end of the game. If I want the trophy for getting all the weapons should I buy them before the end or will the badges carry over to NG+?

Uggghhh

The lamp placement in
The Forbidden Woods
seems crazy. Just died with 78k souls on me at the boss. Gonna be a long hike back....

lock on and strafe at a distance for phase 1. Bait the slam attack and get some hits in whilst she's paused.

When she takes her arms off, sprint to her arse and hit her tail. In phase 2 the only thing she'll do is jump forwards provided you're constantly behind her hitting her tail. It will take ages but you will take 0 damage in the second phase.

I got the 27% gem from a boss but it seems like "minibosses" defending a lever or chest can also drop very good gems if they have a fetid or rotting aura. You don't need to use any materials to create a root dungeon if you use someone elses glyph, so you can farm other peoples dungeons as much as you like. On the other hand you're soon gonna be swimming in materials anyway, thankfully they sell for a ton of blood.

The gems from chalices are way better than Mergos. Even if you do non-cursed dungeons you can easily find gems up to around 21% without any downside. The cursed gems go much higher but they are often unusable. Gems with HP depletion, -ATK or durability down are basically worthless, gems with -beast or -kin are great for pvp and the increased stam gems are the best by far for pve.

Thank god... I just need to find a USB to do the ending trick then do the Chalices... but god do I hate the Chalices...

You should plow through new game+ to gain some more levels imo. Might as well beat the game again. You may be very good though and can handle the cursed dungeon.
