Thanks! So close, just need to finish this dungeon and get the remaining two endings. I actually got BLB on my first try, but that also means I don't really know the pattern, so I guess we'll see how long this takes. It feels pretty damn nice to have full health again, though.

Final Boss wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

Died to Gehrman the first time trying to tease out the parry windows. 2nd time, steamrolled him with lots of parrys. Then had the Moonlight Presence boss. I was short on BV, but still managed to get it first try. Was fairly easy, but did have an annoyig attack that drops you to almost no health.

Optic Blast (as I call it lol) attack! Sometimes you can't even heal too unless you back way the hell up. Of course, you can regain some health once MP is idle after doing Optic Blast, but very risky if you can't get much back.
Heck, doing co-op that move will 100% kill you unless you are behind it or maybe roll at the right time? Anywho, I like the Gehrman fight better, the scenery, music and the way he walks is just way too epic

Wanted to fight the "Vileblood Hunter" to finish Eileen's quest (since I did the trick to make him kill himself in my first game to see if it worked).
I was so close to beat him. I just had to shoot one bullet. ONE DAMN BULLET. And he was dead.
But no, he killed me before I could do it.
I tried and I tried again, couldn't beat him, it was late, I was fed up and tired so I made him kill himself because fuck him.
Not really proud of it, but fuck him :|

How do I unlock the Lower Pthumaru Chalice? I have been going back and forth on both Hintertombs and the rest of the Pthumaru Chalices. I just need 1 Ritual Blood (4) in order for me to unlock Ailing Loran Chalice.

So I found something strange or I am being really dumb. I beat the game the other night and went to ng+, but decided to start a new game instead. I went straight to Father Gascoigne right away and went to check out the girl in the window
and she wasn't there and for some reason it was a random dude who gave me the tonsil stone right away. Does the game change?

Nope. Same thing happened to me with Gilbert in NG. That dude seemed to appear everywhere at some point of the game.
It's after you reach a certain level. Around 60ish.
It's in the central pthumaru chalice.
Got the stone around level 50. I think you get it at a certain point of the story or with bunch of insight. Also don't search tonsil stone via google christ...

That is probably a bug you shouldn't get it that early and you can't even use it for awhile.

Dont need any insight for it or bosses. It's based on levels, so then its around 50ish. I've boosted 4 chars to anywhere between 60 and 100 and i always get the stone without insight.
But yea it's a bug, cause every door gives the stone
It has nothing to do with insight, you get the stone after beating Amelia.

How do you get your character up to 60 before VA? Isn't it a insane grind that early?
I belive it has something to do with the forbidden woods, if you use the skip glitch you get the stone.
"Available from any red lantern NPCs after killing Vicar Amelia and entering the Forbidden Woods. The same voice will greet you at these doors, offering the stone and the same dialogue." According to fextralife.
By using a glitch which gets you to the forbidden woods.

The little spiders didn't do anything and stopped spawning during phases. It became the easiest fighter ever. Oh well, on to Cainhurst!
Didn't know you had to go to the woods, but it's still nearly the same requirements with just an extra step, you can get to the frontier pretty early in the game.
EDIT: wait, your level is irrelevant, I always got the stone even at low level.

Any tips for how I should move forward with stats? I've only boosted, health, endurance, strength and skill so far with a bit for bloodting. The last one,arcane, doesn't seem to have any use right now and I'm just ignoring it, but I'm afraid it might bite me in the ass later.

depends on your weapon of choice. i never added any points to arcane or bloodtinge.
all my stats went to end / vit / str / skill.
End if i wanted 'one more swing' b4 running out of stamina during a combo
vit if it was obvious i needed it in a new zone
str or skill, depending on what raised my attack better.
i used a str/skill weapon obviously. if i hadn't, i'd switch str/skill with relevant stats.

as above poster said, it depends what weapon you've chosen to stick with
arcane also boost damage of certain items, molotovs is one, so if your in to using items then it will help there
also not sure of where you are but there are some items that require arcane to use, i think the first one i got required 15, so i boosted up to that, but to be honest once i could use the item i felt it wasn't worth it.

forgot to mention it also increases the damage you do with gems thats add fire damage etc.
also it won't bite you in the ass, just you might not be as effective with some stuff.
i dunno if this is your first souls game or not, but the preconception of these games being brutally hard and that you can fuck yourself over character wise is a myth.
don't worry so much, just concentrate on what you want to and enjoy yourself.
Don't worry, I played them all multiple times. It's just that these stats are new and some like arcane don't provide much info on what they're used for.

In the forbidden woods, by the caged dogs there's a path to a cave. Theres a couple of ladders that take you to the area behind the gate at her clinic.

I did it on my first try. In fact I've killed the last three bosses on my first try. The areas are definitely getting harder, but the bosses aren't.
Anyway, I'm going back to Upper Cathedral Ward to finish that off. But overall how close am I to the end? I feel like I must be getting close.

Well, you need to go to
the hidden cathedral with the Tonsil Stone to get teleported to the Lecture Hall. I think I tried to get there via another Amygdala (like the one on the Cathedral Ward) but it didn't work.
Even for an arcane build, it doesn't become useful until late in the game. I'm making an arcane character for PvP, and the start of the game have been much harder than even my first play-through because there's not much you can do with arcane early on and I don't want to waste points in STR/SKL. Poking Emilia with the gun spear for 10 minutes is something I don't wish to repeat.

Yeah I had considered that possibility, though I didn't try it out because I had no reason to go to the Nightmare Frontier and the door to Yah'gul wouldn't be open yet.
I'm just gonna kill Vicar Amelia so I can go visit the Hypogaean Gaol and visit Old Yarnham from behind.
