So hyped for this game. Hell I half want to get it on Vita and PS4.
Dang they were so far off the mark with their target pitch:

Do we know if they've dropped UE3 for mobile platforms? Would make sense for sure and I'd be more excited about the game on Vita knowing that. The team doing the handheld port is Abstraction Games. They've been good on Vita, so while the port being delayed sucks, I'm confident it'll be solid. I'd much rather they dump UE3 anyway, since it's not a great engine on Vitaand doesn't even run on 3DS.
Ugh, I should not have given them money for the PC physical.

What do you mean?

Q: Why are the handheld versions coming out after Sept. 15th?
The handheld versions were originally meant to be simpler ports, but we found that the amount of work necessary exceeded our expectationsthe 3DS and Vita versions will actually require remaking the game from the ground up. Because of this development, the handheld versions will be released after the other versions.
Yeah...UE3 Vita? No thank you.
Anyone know?
Also, it seems that Wii U version, Xbox One version and PC/Mac/Linux version also get a physical release.
Same release date too. Maybe it would be good to update thread title !
That was never a "target".
Then why show it? Seriously, if it's not what they envisioned, they shouldn't have shown it.
Huh? The developer, Inti Creates, was the developer behind Mega Man Zero 1-4, Mega Man ZX and ZX Advent, as well as Mega Man 9 and 10. The founders of Inti Creates were ex-Capom staff who worked on the late NES and SNES Mega Man games, among other projects (the president was the director for Mega Man 7 and Mega Man X2, for example). There is no development studio in the world with as much experience making good Mega Man games as Inti Creates, since they have made the best.Hmmm, well I am not expecting it to be that good without the actual people who made MM games fun and created those level designs and memorable bosses. Impressions haven't been good either.
I'm actually not that surprised it got this far though, the hate for Capcom basically funded this game. I'm hoping
Hoping
Possibly
That they changed a few things with the game by release and it will be much more interesting a game.
It's Concept Art, every game ever has it and the games almost never end up looking like that.
Concept art generally doesn't have a floating UI. It doesn't matter if they exclaim it's concept art. When FFXIII showed that totally misleading early footage and slapped a UI over it, it was ridiculed.
I mean, it's not crazy to be disappointed in how it looks after looking at that art.
I fully understand what you're saying, but it was pretty clear since day one that the game would not look that way.
Was it? This isn't a smartass question, I'm honestly asking if people who pledged day one knew that it wasn't going to look like that.
They are not completely alike, but I feel like Shovel Knight ate this game's lunch somewhat.
AND has free, post-launch DLC coming.
I would just be a bit bothered if I had contributed to the 2nd crowdfunding campaign to get VO in, only to have a publisher come through and pay for all this other VO work. I didn't, as I found the whole idea behind that a bit off-putting (and I didn't want VO anyway).
It's just typical risks/crowdfunding shenanigans that a project this big (with as much money involved) is bound to fall into. I wonder when they knew that Deep Silver was coming on board, and what they would be bringing to the table funding wise.
This other publisher coming onboard at the very end is pretty bothersome and I'm surprised people are not more upset over this. Backers put up tons of money just to have a publisher swoop in at the very end. Why were the backers even needed if they could have gotten a publisher to fund this in the first place?
Also having to rebuild the vita version from the ground up? The design of the vita's development software is specifically designed for easy porting from PS4. That's why tons of games come out on PS4/Vita same day. What a bunch of nonsense.

Yeah, I pledged early and I knew that was just concept art. They said from the get-go that were making a game with 3D graphics using the Unreal Engine. I was under no misconception that they were going to be making a 2D game. Anyone who was under that illusion wasn't reading the text in the Kickstarter. Was it? This isn't a smartass question, I'm honestly asking if people who pledged day one knew that it wasn't going to look like that.

Note: All images on this page are concept art and not actual in-game screens.
Actually, it is pretty normal to have floating UIs in concept art. UI design has concept art all the time. For example, the developers for the 2.0 version of Final Fantasy XIV released this piece of concept art to showcase the new UI and intended look for the new version of the game. UI concept art isn't shown off to the public all the time, but it is the nature of a kickstarted project to show a lot more behind the scenes early development concept work than is normal for a videogame project.
They always said it was concept art, though. They absolutely never said the game was going to be 2D.To me that was their target. It was on their Kickstarter page front and center. You can say whatever you want but their were using that image to sell the idea of the game to people.

I think you are mixing things here, there is one thing called physical box on the reward tier, that is only a box with no game, you will get the box in the mail and the code to download the game in your email (from the $20 tier) and then there is another thing outside the reward tier, a complete physical version for pc/mac with a disc. This version is done by fangamer not deep silver, the game will be the same but the external design will be different (yet to be seen).
That was never a "target".
You know, maybe not. But it gave people something of an expectation. And it looks doable considering everything we've seen in recent years. If they didn't want it to be seen as a "target" then they should have put a disclaimer on it. I totally see why people get upset over the game looking so sterile when this is so full of character.

No physical for handhelds and last genCan't wait to get my hands on the physical Vita version ^_^
They really should have gone with 2D :/ It'd have been much cheaper, too, and the 3DS / Vita ports would have been easier, too. But yeah, it was disclosed from the beginning that this was going to be 3D.

They did put a disclaimer on it. Everything in the kickstarter said: this is concept art that might not be indicative of the final product. People just ignored the disclaimers and other text that was very clear about this being a 3D game.
I'd prefer the X team to work on it myself but of course that belongs to Capcom.
