SFV is exclusive to PS4/PC, But what about SSFV or USFV?

because pc and consoles have different markets, and people really think they reside in the same marketshare of the gaming populace. they don't. there is an overlap, sure. but there is a reason why ps4 can sell up to 20+ million and pcs are still as popular.

PC's a much larger market

SoE does not equal Playstation. Which is why SoE is no more and got sold off a few months ago.

This is a weird attitude to say Sony has when they have an indie game in the same situation, Everyone's Gone to the Rapture. If Sony has this attitude now, shouldn't that game be coming to PC again? It's partially funded and developed by Sony, just like Street Fighter.

rapture is fully published and funded by sony as far as we know.

and sf is too big. capcom wouldn't want to limit it to ps4 only, and sony doesn't care if it goes to pc, so sfv going to pc is probably why capcom ok'd the exclusivity, and the compromise that sony is willing to take for it to be ps4-only on consoles.

SFV coming to Xbox is looking unlikely. I believe they're going to implement regular DLC updates instead. Having to send out new retail releases for new content is a thing of the past with the advents of PSN & XBL as viable content distribution platforms.

I'm under the impression that this is a PR spin to keep the deal as disassociated from the Tomb Raider clusterfuck as possible. It's Street Fighter, a multi-million selling franchise.

I'm under the belief that SFV would have happened sooner or later whether or not Sony got involved, it just wouldn't have come out nearly as quickly or with the same scope.

BruceLeeRoy said no so I'll go with that. I remember some other people hinting at a full exclusivity so please feel free to correct me.
The game is co developed/funded by Sony isn't it? That makes it even less likely.

You can keep the hope alive if you want though, perhaps I may eat some delicious crow someday.

Capcom won't split their userbase in several pieces again.

They want all players in the same game and PS4 - PC crossplay points towards that.

Super/Ultra/Turbo/whatever will be DLC to the main game, not standalone release.

Even if there is a chance an updated version were to come to Xbox, that chance would immediately be squashed because Capcom doesn't want to separate the fanbase. Cross-platform play is a big deal here and Microsoft won;t have that because they are kind of dumb like that. Its the same reason we won't see FF14 on an Xbox platform.

They lost KH, MGS and FF exclusivity.

No sure what point you are trying to make, but it doesn't apply to what we were are discussing at all. A new game in franchise being being multiplatform as opposed to exclusive or something form the PS1 era being ported to PC is really stretching it that is all you can up with.

Name me a PlayStation game that was billed and released as an exclusive and showed up somewhere else within a short time frame? None of those games you mentioned was ever ported to Xbox either. Is Kindgom Hearts HD Collection or MSG4 on Xbox or PC. Are any Final Fantasy games that were released as PlayStation exclusives available on Xbox? Some PS1 FF games are PC, but no PS2 era games are that I know of.

When was the last time a Playstation announced exclusive even actually ended up coming to another system? I know its happened a lot with the 360 but I really can't think of many examples the other way around.

where in that post did i say pcs are in a smaller market? i said they reside in different markets.

then again i know what your post wants to instigate. sorry, no one is going to bite.

It's not trying to instigate anything. There is an extremely large and hungry userbase of active steam accounts who purchase games, therefore the market segment is, well... not as different as (say) mobile gaming would be.

Ive said all along Super/Ultra would go to other platforms. Its just my gut feeling. Why in the world would they even hint at any news about the Super version at this point? Its the entire point of the exclusivity. Thats why we havent and wont hear anything for a long time.

Very rarely. But it's also incredibly rare for one of them to hit PC too.

Serious question, as I see this pop up all the time. Do you guys mean crossplatform play between PC and Xbox One, or PC, Xbox One and PS4? Does/would Sony allow crossplatform play between PS4 and Xbox One?

Fairly certain so did Capcom. Like that was literally the start of their story when interviewed about, Capcom went to Sony about it.

Where?? iirc that wasn't the case. Am on mobile and cba to find the news piece but Chinese room devs went to SSM for production support and the like because of the scale of the game + funding. No way Capcom would be in the same shoes as them.

I don't know about Sony but MS certainly wouldn't allow it.

""When we first began working on what's next for the vision of the Street Fighter franchise, we reached out to PlayStation," Ono said through a translator.

From http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2014/...built-ground-ps4-notable-quotes-sony-presser/

Maybe they can trade SFV for Dead Rising with Microsoft and Monster Hunter with Nintendo!

I really hate how Capcom's games are spread out all over different platforms :(

Ono not only secured help to make the game with Sony's help but it's also pretty clear he has a major understanding with them about growing the competitive scene.

There is no way Capcom would have given him half a million dollars to blow as prize money for Capcom Cup 2015, and this is for USF4.

And considering the way the PS4 is selling WW, Capcom will hardly regret their decision to make it console exclusive eitherway.

I figure Sony doesn't own the Street Fighter IP so anything is possible

Sony doesn't own the IP, but there's obviously a contractual agreement between the two companies for this deal. So not "anything is possible". There're terms and clauses that Capcom would have to adhere to.

No Street Fighter V until 2018 - Capcom producer

This was from a year before SFV was announced. Sony is making SFV happen.

As TomShoe said above, and I agree: no doubt in my mind that SFV would have happened without Sony's involvement, but it's sensible to think that Sony backing up a truck of money would help speed things along and possibly increased the scope of the project. But ultimately it must have come to a business decision at Capcom between the money and exposure, or Xbox sales. I can see why they took the deal.

Capcom will treat SSFV as a separate game and it will most likely be on the X1. To think an SSFV is not going to happen is ludicrous.
Wanna do a bet? If a SSFV for the Xbox One gets announced before 2018 you'll get to choose an avatar for me that I'll use for a month. If not then nothing. Let me know if you're up for it.

May I ask: Is there any confirmation that Sony actually funded the game?

For what its worth, I do think it'll remain exclusive and there wont be a Super / Ultra version. It seems to be working OK for KI and I would assume capcom would want to avoid any DLC issues like in the past.
