Koji Igarashi Kickstarts Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (2.5D, backdash, 2018)

Well put $110 down for the Alchemist's Treasure. Happy to see this burst through the stretch goals so fast.

I hope the the basement stretch goals include Vita and WiiU version. Maximum coverage. Assuming no new platforms are stretch goals, I'll be getting the PC version.

Wondering if the majority of people haven't noticed all of the stuff about having to unlock further stretch goals or what... there are two sections on it on the page.

now we see how long it takes for people to "unlock" further stretch goals.

can't help but feel like that was a mistake.

Those social achievements are getting smashed though. I think we cleared a lot of them. Got like 6,500 followers on Twitter and almost 5,000 likes on Facebook.

A few of those have almost certainly been 'unlocked' already, it just seems like no one is updating the page right now.

SotN was by far the best game in the series, in every respect. From there a lack of imagination and recycled assets, workmanlike, as if on a contract to produce 'x' games.

That's actually why I'm pleased to see this and backed it straight away - a fresh start, we won't be seeing any copypasta Skelerangs this time. Fuck those guys.

I wonder. Perhaps there's a "saltiest poster" competition.

Personally, I consider Kickstarter the best thing to have happened in gaming in the past decade. (See also my avatar)

Yep. Even if this particular Kickstarter is just a way to help a publisher part with its money, I'm all for it. If it gives creators the oppurtunity to make games that people want it's only a good thing :). If anything that only makes backing this one that much more of a safe bet, you're essentially pre-ordering the game or a Limited Edition box at this point.

I
That's super subjective. Personally I find OoE's and PoR's soundtracks universally better than SotN's.

People know and I think at least the two-additional-stretch-goals should be visible, but no one is updating right now.

Hopefully the first backer update is something like "wow, we got funded so fast! oops, we'll update more quickly after today" :P~

Ah, yeah.. perhaps this is going quicker than they anticipated? I figured someone would have been handling it live, at least for the duration of the stream.

Jennifer Hale is top tier talent but playing as Shepard would he distracting. What other good VA candidates are out there?

You'd be surprised at her range. She played two characters in Guild wars 2 (queen Jenna and Female Sylvari player), and played the trans character in Dragon age Inq.

The Soul and Glyph systems; lack of imagination? System pls.

I like how the ks is so far ahead of expectations that they apparently didn't even have anyone ready to man the page while they ran their show today. Just get someone on MS paint and write in a couple more goals.

In for $61, just in case they throw something in for "over $60" =)

Looking forward to it. Now to completely forget this is a thing until just before release.

First time I've kickstarted. It does seem a LOT like a pre-order, but the devs show you a little bit of their plans and make you feel a part of it. "Here's the things we're planning on doing anyway, but now you can feel you helped!"

Whatever. I feel I helped. Love all the igaVanias (sorry Duckroll) and have been wondering when the hell someone would give us another. Admittedly I expected it on the 3DS but PS4 (well, newest-gen exclusive) is making my imagination go crazy.

Yay!

I think I somehow forgot that the game already has funding and a publisher, while the kickstarter is a way to measure/prove interest plus add more features to the game.

I'd imagine that a lot of the people that want this game will already have bought the game on the kickstarter, so I guess this money goes back to whoever is the publisher of this game?

The Soma series of Castlevania games had perfectly serviceable plots with some of the better parts of the series in them actually. From Soma being the new Dracula, to the revelation of Dracula as a form of Chaos that Soma then becomes and stops the rebirth it all was pretty darn good.

I'm hoping for a good central mechanic beyond weapons. Not-glyphs or not-souls would be great, obviously. Just please, not some awful subweapon system that levels up with use (*glares at Portrait of Ruin*).

The art looks great, IMO.

What kind of Castlevania fan are you to immediately recoil from it? It's manga style... but even less of a cartoony manga style than was found in the first Dracula X or the DS games.

It's nearly ideal unless you're allergic to manga... but even then I think "are you a CV fan who's lived under a rock since 1991"? Manga been all up in that series since forever.
So what? I like the Bram Stoker inspirations. These modern character and weapon designs are impractical and ugly as fuck.

I mean look at this unwieldy shit. It looks like a snow cone from the crossguard and apparently goes from round to edge. Or it's supposed to be a cross between a sword and a lance. Who the fuck knows?

Can't we have practical designs?

Even Order of Ecclesia is guilty of shitty weapon designs.

We get it. You don't like the romantic weapon designs.

Practical designs are boring as fuck. I'd take Miriam's sword over generic barbarian's sword any day of the week.

Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;

And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

So I'm seeing people bring up IntiCreate and Mighty No.9 with an air of weariness. Can someone quickly explain to me why? Sorry, I didn't follow Mighty No.9 much (no interest in Megaman), so I didn't know there was a backlash to that game.

How could they even do it when Wii U doesn't even support the game's engine?

The same way they're doing the handheld versions of Mighty No. 9? I mean, it's not impossible, even if it would result in a fundamentally different looking game than what they're aiming for.
