Sure, I'd be up for that. I'll leave the timing on when to create the thread to you. It'd be neat to hear what kind of stuff folks would want in a weapon in the game.
Oh, crap, missed that. Yeah, guess it's just a matter of getting the money for online code then!Local coop is in already though.
Well, true, but that's kind of what I meant: PoR was designed with two characters, whereas this seems built around one character. So how would they make it work with a sudden extra character? Like DS3 where the're just there for cinematics, or what?Just make like Portrait of Ruin and assign a "leader" player that can change rooms, also use HoDespair features for communication and stuff.
I'm not a fan of that particular implementation, but I'd like to see a weapon change IGA's "slash slash, backdash/evade, slash slash" combat system up a little. Give the enemies a bit more HP and make them slightly more aggressive to change up the combat. Tie it to that weapon only so it is more a "challenge run"/alternate take on combat than the main focus.
I like the Metroidvania formula, but honestly it's gotten a bit stale. Furr--er--"Dust"'s combat is kinda brain dead easy with that projectile and twirl attack, I'd like to see a bit more engagement.
SotN's... directional magic system wasn't the best, but I'd like to see a weapon take that style and change the combat up a little.
I find it really lame that you have to spend $100 to have your name included in the credits. I am sure this is deterring some people from backing. You get your name in the credits in near all kickstarters.
A backer is a backer.
So a Nintendo release is not happening, even with the surpassed funding goals?
I'm not portbegging, just want an official yes or no answer.

Son of a bitch, after the original 10 "Design a Weapon" $2,000 tiers were claimed, they added another set of 10 but it now costs $2,100.
I wonder how much I really want the "_______ of the Unknown Soldier" to be in this game... Or even what kind of weapon it would be.
They've basically teased Vita/WiiU stretch goals being much further down the list of stretch goals due to the fact they'd have to essentially make a second version of the game to work on those platforms as UE4 won't work on them. Don't expect to see them till we're seeing at least 2.5-3 million dollar stretch goals.
Man, 1.8 million.... must be such a good feeling getting cash for a dream project on the basis of your reputation alone. I'm really excited to see how this turns out!
But it isn't Activision, EA, or Ubisoft who are deluded... It's everyone else trying to be like them. But neither Capcom nor Konami nor most other companies can be like them because these three publishers, Activision, EA, and Ubisoft, release the same set of games year after year. Every year will have a Call of Duty, an Assassin's Creed, a FIFA, and a Madden and those four games are guaranteed to be in the ten top sellers of a particular year. It's more like a top six with four IPs as undefeatable constants.
Compare this to GTA or Smash Bros. which are huge IPs, but never have annual releases... or something like the Halo franchise, which is also a huge annual IP, but one that could not even break the top ten. FIFA, Madden, Call of Duty, and Assassin's Creed are constant annual top tenners.

What's wrong with 2?A Castlevania 1/3 style level?
YES PLEASE
IGA has been overwhelmed by the support his game has gotten so far, and now that hes back in Japan hes ready to get back to work. When you back now you arent just putting a down payment on the next stretch goalyoure adding dollars to the development budget that wouldnt be there otherwise. All your support will show in a final game thats bigger, better, and more polished than it could have been without your help.
I think I'd rather they just make a separate game with that kind of funding. Get enough money to straight up make an 8-bit/16-bit styled spin off (more akin to arcade visuals of that period perhaps?) that hits the currently slated consoles AND Wii U/Vita/3DS(/PS3/360 because well fuck it) perhaps. Something a bit akin to classic CV to match with Igavania. They've basically teased Vita/WiiU stretch goals being much further down the list of stretch goals due to the fact they'd have to essentially make a second version of the game to work on those platforms as UE4 won't work on them. What Castlevania games would you guys recommend to a relative Castlevania newbie.
Last I remember I've only played Symphony of the Night(which was fucking amazing) and one of the games for GBA(I feel like it was the first one, I never beat it though). Hows Dracula X Chronicles?
Kind of redundant in the face of what Iga's games were like. Those were more like a more fully realized version of the same thing albeit liberally cribbing from Metroid. What about 2?!
I don't know what Nintendo did to piss off Epic Games to make them release the engine on mobile and Ouya and not the Wii U.

On the other hand, I can see some aspects being worth revisiting IE encompassing the landscape and not just a castle (OoE came close but that was broken into stages), but that's more appropriate as the basis for a new game entirely.
That's what the rest of the game isWhat about 2?!
Which is better with a new game, it'd probably be easier to do justice to CV1/3/X and their ilk than to attempt to cover a small scale version of 2 whose core gameplay is roughly the same. Better for a new game borrowing more from that, retro style or not.Kinda my point. 2 with its multiple towns and locations, was an entire world not just one location recreated in 2D. There's room to explore that sentiment a bit more.
One section of the castle will feature an area that Miriam can traverse in beautiful retro graphics. We've been referring to this section as the 8-bit Level internally, although it may be closer to 16+ bit depending on how we mix it with the full game. While a full-blown 8-bit game doesn't fit into the game's budget, backer support will allow us to have fun with the development and create a little retro magic in our game.

DXC is a remake of Rondo which is a great Classicvania. It also includes the original Rondo and SotN. As for Iga games I would recommend you play them in order: Aria, Dawn, Portrait, and Order. IMO if you go straight to let's say OoE, your appreciation for the other DS games diminishes greatly. Like playing P3FES after Persona 4.What Castlevania games would you guys recommend to a relative Castlevania newbie.

I'm pretty sure its a simple issue of hardware. While more powerful, the WiiU gpu is a bit too old compared to what is available inside the ouya or most recent smartphones
99.9 percent sure he won't. He was likely paid on a salary, no royalties or anything. Kojima was probably the same way too and we know how high profile he is.If I buy older castlevania games that Igarashi has developed (such as symphony of the night on PSN), Does IGA still get royalties for it?
Basically I want to support IGA, but if he doesn't get any money from it and only Konami does, forget it.

This reminds me. I already have physical copies of SOTN, Circle of the Moon (I bought the GBA back in the day because of this game), Harmony of Dissonance, Aria of Sorrow, and Dawn of Sorrow.
I adore the Metriodvania games but still need to get Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. I haven't kept up much with handhelds as much anymore and luckily those seem to still be cheap brand new cause the GBA games are ridiculous expensive new.
Order of Ecclesia is really the best of the bunch too, except SotN obviously.

Taco. Taco of the Unknown Soldier. Do it.
I'm imagining Miriam wielding a gigantic taco and whacking the enemies with it right now.
I don't know if Iga would let me put that in the game.

Either that or the attack button just has her take a bite and chew for a bit.
Edit: Actually that sounds like an awesome idea. Time to start a kickstarter to try to fund it imo.
Heh. Finish it first and your opinion will change.I've been playing OoE, and while pretty nifty so far (beat the Skeleton Cave), it's not anywhere near as good as SotN.
Nice to have a female hero for a change though
