Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

Impressions of the squid amiibo single-player content:

- 20 missions
- 4 are levels from the SP that you have to finish with limited ink. These were actually a bit challenging.
- 11 are timed levels from the SP, with unlimited kraken ability. These are pretty much a joke, I don't think I died once on any of these.
- 5 are timed revisits to the bosses from SP, with unlimited kraken ability. These were also a joke, though I did finish the last boss in my first try with only a minute to spare.
- you earn
three pieces of armor, a minigame, and a weapon blueprint. Though the weapon shop can't actually produce the weapon on the blueprint, and instead gives you a repainted splatshootter? Kinda lame, hopefully fixed with an update.
- maybe around 2-3 hours of content.
- overall it was fun, and a good way to earn in-game currency quickly, but I wouldn't recommend the amiibo just for the content alone. If you want the armor, the actual amiibo itself, and/or you are just dying for some more single-player action then I would say the squid amiibo is worth the purchase.

I'll post my impressions from the boy and girl amiibo tomorrow and Wednesday.

so, what's the weirdest plaza post you guys have seen? Just happened upon something unusual and went in to read the full post:

uh....

Everyone's trying to replicate the success of an old Mario 3D World Miiverse post that said "this game is fun my mom and dad have been fighting a lot." Just dumb attempts at looking like a little kid being sweet to make you go "aww."

These communication errors have been plaguing my online sessions. Been able to finish only 4 matches today.

Try to connect Nintendo tech support.
It helped a guy on Reddit (in the comment)

Add me people :D
Rito2Ru

I've seen newbies (level 1-5) take out level 20 players lol

And you can join anyone in turf war regardless of level. Its only ranked battles where you need 10 and up.

Add me as well. Blunoise, I just don't post a lot I'm general but I'm playing everyday.

Aww man, I'm sure this has already been discussed plenty but watching some streams of the US version really made me disappointed with the EU localization. Now I wish I didn't find that out.

NOE pls :(

Yeah,
the amiibo weapons are reskinned versions of the base Splatter, Roller, and Charger weapons.
Kind of a shame, but it's probably better than having something really good that only a slim few players will have.

About the spoiler.
Won't be "fixed" in an update. The intent is for nobody to have a real advantage over others due to the amiibo, they are just cosmetic.

GGs to everyone that I played with.
What black thing? I'm not familiar with that.
You see where the Miiverse drawing and speakers are? You can place a sprinkler below it or on its side.
Was in an awesome room with DaBoss just now (shoutouts to Tentatek Splattershot/Charger synergy, those lines were appreciated!) and stupid me left the controller for too long, now I can't get back in. :(

Ah well, time to get some take out.
That isn't a Charger, it is a Shooter called the Rapid Blaster AKA the worst weapon in the game for combat. It can get Charger like shots really fast, but at that point, you're better off using a Charger with how defenseless it is.
Oh fuck you DaBoss
I just don't do enough damage quick enough. Nothing like seeing that astonishingly powerful roller raise thinking "get out of range asap and keep firing" only to get smashed. :lol
Dynamo Roller <3

It seriously is the best cause of the long wind up time for it compared to the normal roller which makes it even more satisfying.

Though I was using the Gold Dynamo Roller that time. The Splat Bomb isn't as useful as the Sprinkler. You can draw people out with a Splat Bomb I guess.
I'm always legit frightened when he's on the other team, it's making me stay on my toes.
I'm scared when anyone on my friend list or someone on GAF is on the other team (which happens often). I would like to have an easier time, thank you very much.
So tell me, if you've been leveling up at a steady clip and you cleared out the current inventory in all shops, you gotta wait the full day to see multi-star items still?
Yes. You should get to the mid-high teens in terms of level so you can just get 3-star gear as well.
So both the gf and I are enjoying the game, any easy way to switch users in game?
Unfortunately, no.

It's interesting to re-watch the Splatoon E3 reveal to see how the early maps evolved into the final versions we see in the game. The oil rig especially has gone through an overhaul.

There was a dark map, I guess that was old Warehouse.

And even Underpass looks completely different.

Bring back the old maps!!!

EDIT: Actually, I played on the Old Underpass at EGX in London last year...damn, it felt different.

After some troubleshooting with the error I tested MK8 and it doesn't work either. It worked just fine 2 weeks ago.

Kind of fucked up how I have to suddenly act like an IT superstar to handle this shit. Guess I'll let my WiiU collect some dust for couple of weeks and see if anythings fixed.

I'm going to go for another round with the splatter pro, then try out scope and rapid blaster.

Someone calling a weapon bad only makes me more intrigued.

I get why people are pissed about the amiibo stuff but it's only because they don;t have it. The content is ok, an easy diversion to get a minor in-game money boost and some cosmetic items you won't use. The mini game is gash. But that's good. It's a funzie extra that doesn't really do anything. Hell the big thing about the squid amiibo is it gives you a youtube soundtest.

The figure is nice and a cool bit of memorabilia but in no way losing shit over in a false scarcity sense. And this is coming from an ex Games Workshop addict.

I think once they take away the two maps per four hours thing, I'll buy the game. Dumbest thing ever. I NEVER play games for longer than four hours at a time, usually closer to 1-2 hours. My opportunities for play time are limited to a couple of hours late at night, so I would get frustrated by the lack of variety.

So that Kraken roller is basically support. Inking up territory until your special's full to charge in with. Then place beacons at sneaky spots behind enemy lines.

I can dig it.
Wish you could tell this to the players who I see who decide to place beacons really near to our start point. Sometimes they even super jump to them. I'm talking taking 5 seconds to jump somewhere you could swim to in less than that :(

Having that third entrance to the main part of underpass is a big help.

Some timestamps for the minimaps to see the big changes:
Saltspray rig: https://youtu.be/8KLQz-7gCnI?t=2m58s
Urchin underpass: https://youtu.be/8KLQz-7gCnI?t=3m4s

The minimaps themselves really lack info in the prototype and it seems you could zoom in for some reason.
