Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

It'll seem so short later on. Partially because the later levels require significantly more points and partially because you'll average more points a match. I've only had one match today net me less than 700 points, whilst on Friday/Saturday/Sunday I would regularly do only 400 or so.
I just want to unlock those dang weapons everyone has D:

Why is every damn match of mine either a horrible blow out for me or a modest victory? :/
Yesterday was a terrible day for me lol
Consecutive losses for quite a while

I don't understand how some of you guys are able to win like 20 matches in a row without getting matched up with a crappy team against an amazing team. I'm lucky to win 2 matches in a row because everyone seems to be amazing at this game except my team.

Oh man. Ive been there, and I found a solution that works wonders for me.

I stopped caring.

No. Really, I just more or less ignore what my team is doing, and paint.

After I take one of the large squares or the middle ground, which i always do, if my team comes up and secures it, good for them. If they dont, whatever, ive got ground somewhere else to paint. If they lose the middle ground and our base area, and everything i take for them, even better, more points for me.

If i run out of middle ground and base ground to paint, i paint the enemies base area, I particularly enjoy leaving a mine a few feet in front of their spawn point

Losing lost all its bite for me once I started sitting at scores at 12-1600 while the high scorers of the winners were at 900-1200, even with their 300 point bonus.

I've found that using it's full reach has great effect. Try painting by walking backwards, and on long stretches like Skatepark, Arrowana, and Warehouse, it can make up the difference in seconds. Be sure to arch your shot up a little so that the paint drops instead of firing forward, giving you a clear coat really quickly.
Thanks for the tip.

Oh, man fuck the dynamo roller. Never noticed it until past match. Got worked over thoroughly.

You should see who the first player is in the lobby. That person is typically the host. That person should leave so someone else becomes the host. That would probably help.
doesn't work for me, Wii U doesn't support flash it seems

will try tomorrow. Google tells me that quite a few people have problems with the Wii U wifi
Try this: http://speedof.me/

Given up. In about an hour I've completed three matches, all the others have been disconnects. Rest and tested my internet again, ping's marginally higher than usual but everything else is fine. Urgh.

What weapon are you using and what sort of playstyle do you use?

I like being a jack of all trades. I try to break through and lay down lines for people to use while getting a loop around the area first. If I get splatted on the first run around, I'll switch to support by coating missed areas and backing up people engaging in hot spots. I just like mobility and support I guess.

Impressions of the squid amiibo single-player content:

- 20 missions
- 4 are levels from the SP that you have to finish with limited ink. These were actually a bit challenging.
- 11 are timed levels from the SP, with unlimited kraken ability. These are pretty much a joke, I don't think I died once on any of these.
- 5 are timed revisits to the bosses from SP, with unlimited kraken ability. These were also a joke, though I did finish the last boss in my first try with only a minute to spare.
- you earn
three pieces of armor, a minigame, and a weapon blueprint. Though the weapon shop can't actually produce the weapon on the blueprint, and instead gives you a repainted splatshootter? Kinda lame, hopefully fixed with an update.
- maybe around 2-3 hours of content.
- overall it was fun, and a good way to earn in-game currency quickly, but I wouldn't recommend the amiibo just for the content alone. If you want the armor, the actual amiibo itself, and/or you are just dying for some more single-player action then I would say the squid amiibo is worth the purchase.

I'll post my impressions from the boy and girl amiibo tomorrow and Wednesday.

How many more weapons does the dlc provide?

I've only gotten errors when connecting with friends (started since yesterday for 1 or 2 people when I tried to join their match) :<
Randoms were still ok before I stopped playing a couple minutes ago

Yeah, I think I'm getting the hang of the Aerospray RG, just fits my playstyle the best

Kill my teammates, they're useless to me

lol I don't discriminate who I splat

Do I now possess the Ark of the Covenant?

This seems to be laboring under the impression that running from a bubbled player, allowing them to ink all over the place uncontested for a few seconds, doesn't leave the game in roughly the same state as if someone had shot an inkstrike at that location.
Well, sure, it's possible for the Splattershot Jr. to cover a lot of ground by the time Bubbler wears off. Inkstrike still has some advantages over Bubbler though:

a) Inkstrike has infinite range. You can use Inkstrike to help allies push, root out entrenched enemies, or cover an area that's inconvenient for the other team to deal with. You're less likely to leave yourself exposed once Inkstrike does its thing as well.

b) You can fire Inkstrike to cover a non-trivial amount of space at the end of the match. Ink Bombs cover decent area, but not as much as what an Inkstrike would give.

That was the last one for me tonight. Good games everyone! You just can't get this level of Splatoon outside of GAF lobbies.

Something that I need to start paying attention to is to be careful when changing into squid form. The grate flooring in the mall area has led to my watery demise multiple times because when I dodge up there I instinctively hit the squid button lol.
