Pricing errors aside this is the worst opening day for Steanm sales in a while.

Words from someone who has most of the games.

It's a phenomenal opening day for people who are new to the platform, of which there have been millions over the past year.

Don't Starve? Metro? Hotline Miami? Homeworld? Isaac? Valkyria? Xcom? Papers Please?

These are some of the best games in their respective genres. If you don't have these, then you need to buy them.

It more likely didn't.

they bumped up the price by adding those online money cards for this sale.

No. They didn't. People who have the original game in their wishlist can see the original title now raised to $85.

If you go on the page for the item, there is NO GAME listed at the $84.99 posted, even before the sale.

I guess GTA V should have done nothing and not give out the crappy monopoly money.

That's literally what they should have done.

Soooooo, Silent Hill: Homecoming for 10 bucks...that's gotta be the best sales price it's ever had, right? Wonder if it will be a daily this year.

Oh wow, Earth Defence Force is on sale for the first time that I can remember. I'm gonna wait it out and see if it becomes a daily/flash deal, even though that's pretty unlikely.

I already have XCOM: EU and I want to play EW. Should I purchase the complete package or should I wait for EW to be discounted further. Right now it's only at 50% off.

I'm seeing EW at 80% off. Canadian store.

EDIT: The regular price for EW is $54.99? What.

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...
In case anyone is interested, I am working on our traditional yearly Indie game steam sale thread now. Still need a while, but I'll also need your help to hunt down some good deals later on.

This is the first sale ever on Steam I'm just staring at the front page with nothing to buy.

Shit guys I'm hitting that point now

Yea, once you've picked all the low hanging fruit from previous sales, there's not a whole lot to be excited about.

I still miss the crazy publisher collection deals they had several years back. That was the height of steam sales for me.

Yea totally. All my friends that are new to PC gaming are super excited but as the tired old vet I am I'm not pleased. I was hoping for at least a good GTAV sale. Just like 20 bucks off but they fucked us good.

So Elder Scrolls Online isn't discounted at all right now... we probably won't see it on sale at any point, will we?

If it's not discounted at all, it will likely never be in this sale. Unless they were sneaky and made it so that it only gets discounted if it gets to be a flash or daily, but even then you can be sure it will be a tiny discount.

Considering how this first day has gone, it's like game publishers are begging me not to buy their stuff - and I am more than happy to oblige.
