Its agonising on the X1 as well yet Msoft is doing it...
Well... remember the xbox 360 ended up over 3x the OG Xbox userbase
So in reality that 5% was more like 15%+
The thing is they have a 360 x86 emulator, maybe they can start selling these on Windows 10 if they felt like tinot every game has a PC version and these all would unique to their own store with compatibility with 360 players. Every PC is a 360... never happening but something to think about.
When I had my fat PS3, I never used the backwards compatibility. Honestly I don't care to play PS3 games on ps4. But to each his/her own I guess.
"Unfortunately there are just not sufficent enough software engineers in the world for everyone to do everything."
I've played a few games on my X1 using BC so far and honestly they perform great.
If you don't get PS1 and PS2 Classics working on PS4 Sony you're dead to me
And not blocking used games doesn't appease "poor people"?What's the point of appeasing poor people who can't afford new games? Sony is doing the right thing.
Not really sure what exactly is "complicated" about it.
If you own the game via GoD or physically and Microsoft get permission from the copyright holders then the game will work via the purchased method.
Seems simple.
It's not something I'll use a great deal. I have a big back catalog of 360 games that I'll get some use out of but It's a damn sight better than PS Now IMO which I'd have to pay monthly to access games I already own.
Backwards compatibility isn't used (according to Sony) because it was only on the early PS3 models. Most PS3 owners didn't use it because they didn't HAVE it (I mean PS2 games, btw). And they can't say anything about backwards compatibility on PS2.
LOL at thinking making 360 games run on x1 which share very similar architecutue is near the same as cell, people struggled with cell for years and it took a unique approach to coding on ps3, not even close to the same.
Oh, in that case I'm just going to rebuy some PS3 multiplats as Xbox 360 BC titles
If you don't get PS1 and PS2 Classics working on PS4 Sony you're dead to me
Do I have to post them my games PSP Go style?I know local BC on PS4 of PS3 games may be basically impossible, but I just wish Playstation would take a page from Microsoft and at least say "The digital PS3 games you own that are available through PSNow are yours for free."
They should do the same for disc based games I own that are on PSNow, but I'm not a greedy man, I'll be good with my digitally purchased games.
People are really over valuing backwards compatibility. Is it a nice feature? hell yeah! Having only 20 backwards compatible titles is retarded and shows how much they really care about this (not much). Hopefully they prove me wrong, i just dont see this as a feature that will make people go out and buy one. of course My opinion and all that jazz.

Spencer has been a top player at xbox for years, please, he was as involved as any and behind the x1 as much as anyone. He was also behind their lack lustre first party for years. THis Spencer worship is odd and makes no sense. All MS was behind X1 not just mattrick , it's not how business works.
Where are they telling you what you want?Exactly. It's bullshit justification. We can only guess at their genuine motives. They shouldn't be telling people what they want and don't want. There's another reason and I imagine it has a little something to do with making money.
lol, really? Wouldn't focusing on new IP and current gen games make more sense for everyone?
Where are they telling you what you want?
Cause he's downplaying the importance of backwards compatibility while charging for the same service.
If the percentage of people who want it is so small, why are they even trying with PS Now?
Million of gamers are playing 360 games, they like them, why can't that carry over to xbox one?
Sony excuses are lame. Why bother with PS now then?
"Our fans don't want that, just like they don't want EA Access. We're just looking out for them."
It's not a huge feature, especially not 2 years in when a lot of people that care about this sort of thing have made their console purchasing decisions, but it's a good bullet point for something like E3 and gives them some good will and a nice pop. Ultimately it also lets people play their old games which, for the people that are into that sort of thing, is cool.
over 100 titles will be available when it is officially launched. All first party titles that are not kinect only games will make their way to BC.
kind of agree that its not a megaton...but its not a bad thing. those saying it is are just being silly console fanboys.
we are in the age of trade-ins/used games though...many people don't hoard games or keep their old consoles anymore outside of the hardcore. they are one and dones who trade in their games once they beat them to fund the purchase of other games. at most they'll keep a game for a year and trade it in when the next yearly edition comes out (madden, fifa, cod, etc.)
Holy shit at people trying to justify Sony's stance on this, so similar to the EA Access announcement thread.
What about the Xbox solution is messy, uneven or less than ideal? The Xbox solution is really messy, uneven, and less than ideal, tbh. If you can't have actual native BC I would much prefer a streaming solution, if it meant the games worked/looked exactly as they once did, and I wasn't barred by what's supported and what isn't.
